after using Thunderbird for years, new incoming email now display as: LP/dfHZJml//VOFFsq+rhu5OJP4DCm6cS7aNBZz0K1VLckif83iE0ZZkBM+RBJ3qjtpfOARokH9i with many more similar lines -- always the same text string though. I have restarted the app, the OS, safe mode, reinstalled the app -- nothing makes a difference. The email are displayed correctly on other machines running other email clients.

It doesn't always happen, but when it does it is usually the 2nd and 3rd emails from the top of the Inbox. So it might not be a reception issue, but a display issue.

Last week my TB stopped working all of a sudden, wasn't doing anything, no errors messages at all. I reinstalled it and it picked right up where it left off. Now today, I come in and again it won't work, but now it says it is because of my profile being for an older version.

How did my profile get updated to a newer version and since I just updated my TB to the latest version, why isn't it working now?? I tried to go back to the version from last week and it still doesn't work, but it also doesn't work with the newest version. I really need my profile to work and I'm really upset about this. Can anyone help?

I currently use Thunderbird 128.3.1esr (32-bit). I monitor 5 different gmail based accounts from it. The primary issue is that I have removed one account from the "settings : Account Actions " dropdown several times and every time I reboot my windows box the old account returns. A lesser issue but still a distractor is that my Message View Layout returns to the default on the same regular reboot. How can I permanently delete the account??? and if it's a twofer, have my message view choice remain?? Thanks. Bob.

Dear Thunderbird team I am an avid user of TB (home desktop Windows PCs), but I have been resting on my laurels on v78 for a few years now. I know, shame on me. I would like to upgrade to a stable "modern" release (emphasis on "stable" please). Can you please advise if I should aspire to end up on 115 or 128, and how I might get there ? From reading some older blogs, there is advice that says.... first go to v91, then v102, then v115, and so. That seems a bit tortuous, but I am happy to do so if that is still the recommended approach.

Also, can you advise on how I manage my Profile through all this, do I need to do various exports/imports as I move through these different versions, etc.

Every time I try to download my messages a screen pops up requesting that I sign in. Two problems: 1. Text is WHITE on a WHITE background - can only see part of the login credentials when you click on the field [part only, not full login name]

2. As you can see from the attached screenshot, I cannot access the "Next" [or whatever button] at the bottom of the screen. As you can also see, there are no screen resize options [top left hand of screen] and I cannot "move" the page so that the "Next" button is visible.

I have effectively been locked out of my emails for 7 days - I have given up trying to search for the answer because I don't even know how to phrase my question.

IMAP folders get unsubscribed when deleting, moving or renaming a folder.

There are two other threads I found where this has happened, but no one has come up with an answer for this, and the threads have been archived. This seems like a bug to me as it only seems to be happening with Icloud accounts. Should I report it as a bug?

Hi Guys, I wonder if you can help . I have had Monzilla Thunderbird App for some while , primarily used for email, and access to my email account with Microsoft and has always been a bit of a pain to say the least. That I fear is because it was never set up properly by myself in the first place.

However, at the moment I can't receive any email from my PC ......."bards@btconnect.com " unless I sign in via a webpage. However, access via my smartphone using supplied Outlook email app, no problem.

So I am hopeful that you guys can help me sort out my PC access once and for all.

The current problem has arisen after receiving a forced donation / subscription page from Mozilla having made my donation I still do not have access to my email and folders.

Brief history: i. Originally PC access to account via Monzilla working fine, (donations made at intervals to Monzilla). ii. Microsoft then changed security systems and servers and with current setup at the time I couldn't get access to email incoming or outgoing ( problem with Imap / PoP3 servers). iii. Fix provided by Monzilla with new account denoted as .... bards@btconnect.com (OWL) whatever OWL stands for I do not know, (annual subscription required). iv. Even with the use of this get around , I still had problems sending mail this I believe was a problem down to default passwords and old server settings. (confliction between default settings and original account settings and use of OWL ? ). v. As mentioned above the current problem has arisen after receiving a forced donation / subscription page from Mozilla having made my donation I still do not have access to my email. problem with server settings again. Don't know what's going on ? and I am thoroughly confused and would appreciate some help getting things back on track. some messages in my TB (128.3.0esr [64 bit]; macOS 15.0.1) do not show any content or show only completely random numbers, letters and other characters. Sometimes what helps is moving messages between the folders.

There is not such problem when viewing the e-mail via webmail.

The curse of the behemoth yet again? I refer to the ‘new’ imposition imposed by Microsoft with their ‘new’ authorisation and authentification nonsense when attempting to log in to account/s via Thunderbird. Why this is necessary when it is possible to log in via the usual manner direct is any body’s guess. My personal opinion is that it is a sordid and underhannd way of forcing us to subscribe to Outlook 365? Cynical me? For numerous reasons I need and use 6 e-mail accounts, sadly all Microsoft (outlook.com, hotmail.com. .co.uk and last but not least live.com). No need to explain why the excellent Thunderbird is used and has been for nigh on 15 years+. Over the past couple of months I have tried every conceivable configuration supplied by the support team and other poor users in the same position as me. None have solved my problem. I surely cannot be alone? I do not object to change if it is of benefit but this is madness. For the time being Thunderbird is redundant and the daily grind of signing in individually via Microsoft faces me everyday. Both time consuming and arguably pointless. If someone has a definitive solution please let me know. There must be one?

I want to configure my E-mail default reply signature to use English only. But I haven't found any options for it. Many sample only told me config it in "Account Settings" -> "Composition & Addressing" but there's no options to configure the content.

Specifically, I want to achieve when I reply an E-mail, the reply signature "On Fri, 2024... xxx@xxx.com wrote" always in English, even if I'm using zh-CN version Thunderbird.

hello, just got a new Outlook email, which works fine on phone Android samsung App and outlook web mail. it refuses to set up on thunderbird [ up to date version] on Windows 8.1 PC- showing a message like " user authenticated but not connected" No idea what that means! I previously posted a question and it was answered by Matt however, the answer did not bring me a solution. Here it is again: I had a folder named Documents where I used to store important emails, receipts etc. I believe that after compacting the emails my folder disapeared along with 90 % of the content and now I have a new folder named Dolcuments 1 which I did not create myself. Can some one tell me perhaps how can I recover my previous folder ? and NO the repair option for the folder doesn't work.
