Hello. How can I choice (or modify) de background color for a selected text, or for new text writing? In the formatting menu bar in the "write" window, the icon for selecting the text color works well, but the icon for selecting background color acts on the whole page, not on the selected text. Thunderbird 115.8.0 (64 bits) on Windows 7 Pro. Thank you for your help.

Hello; I am trying to create a group email/mailing list. All of the contacts exist in my address book. When at the "to" line in email header nothing transfers. I tried to make a "new list" but it only offers space for 6; I need 10.

I need a solution to setting-up a group email which will be needed frequently. I followed the instructions on the Mozilla help page but it has content which doesn't mesh with Thunderbird (latest version) such as there being no "mail groups" when going file > new > ???? I have done this successfully on Outlook and Safari, but no luck on Thunderbird.

Thunderbird will not connect to my bt mail. I have tried Mailbird, Outlook and others and they will not connect. I have checked configuration with BT and they say all OK. Have changed password - no change. Manually configured with password - no change. My PC has had a new SSD since and still will not connect. I have Broadband with BT so I get the same privaligies as Premium. I have malwarebytes and that allows them to connect. Up until a couple of weeks ago it worked OK and then suddenly it stopped working. Had my local Techie shop look at it - no result. They said it must be BT, but spoke to them again today and they say it should work - certainly with outlook. They recognise connection, but says either config or password incorrect. Changed password again, but no change. Can you please tell me where the problems is. Thanks

Before I updated to Supernova, when I opened Thunderbird and there was an update available, a window would automatically open in Thunderbird showing the available update (screenshot attached), which allowed me to read the Release Notes to see what was being updated, before applying the update.

However, since updating to Supernova, this no longer happens.

I have always had my settings set to General / Updates / Check for updates, but let me choose whether to install them and as I said, this worked until updating to Supernova.

So can someone tell me what I need to do, to get the update window opening automatically again?

Dear friends,

until now, the displaying of individual attachments (photos - jpg, png...) was automatically adapted to the width of the given window when viewed directly in the message.

However, after the penultimate update, the attachments (photos - jpg, png...) no longer fit the width of the given window and are enlarged so that I can only see a part of them. If I want to see the whole photo, I have to open it in an external program by double-clicking it.

Today I updated to the latest version - 115.6.1 - and the problem persists.

Is it possible to influence it somehow or set it somewhere?

I inadvertently changed the background of my Thunderbird to black with white text. I have NO idea what I did or how to get it back. I tried this: Menu app icon (3 lines) > Preferences select 'General' Scroll to 'Language & Appearance' click on 'Colours' Text = white Background = Blue uncheck - do not select 'Use System colours' 'Override the colours....' select 'Never' Click on OK

I was finally forced to upgrade from win7 (which worked) to win 10 (me no likey) because of a required program which would not even install on win7. After the upgrade, which obliterated my hard drive of several important things, I am reinstalling TB. I always used an NAS directory for Thunderbird, and have email records going back nearly twenty years. I installed TB 115 and have tried several ways to get it to recognize my profile directory on the NAS to no avail. I tried copying data into the default directory the 115 install is looking at. The about:profiles shows it is looking in the correct directory, it produces a parent.lock file in that directory when I run the program. It does not give me my email, or contacts. I do not use the calendar or to-do lists.

My system is an AMD K6-6400K with 16 GB and a 500 GB drive. Though programs are loaded on the drive ALL data is stored in an NAS. There is about 375 GB available on the C drive.

I have used the cmd line to pull up profile manager, added a profile, pointed it to the data that is on the NAS, a parent lock file is created there too but it shows me no mail.

I have edited the profiles.ini file manually to have the program look at the directories, both the NAS and a local directory which has had the old files entered. Neither worked.

I tried opening TB and creating a new profile and pre-loading the info there, nothing. I've been at this for days now. I have uninstalled and removed manually all TB folders and reinstalled older versions to give that a go but without effect. I am no Luddite (Many years ago I owned a system integration, assembly and install company doing networking for the military as a civilian contractor.) but someone has to explain this to me like I am a five year old. There is no reason having my email back should be this difficult!

PLEASE give me a hand?

My TB directory appears in C:\Users\owner\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird My old data folder was on a network drive at M:\Users\owner\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\profiles\k5zbs5az.default When I manually enter the M: address in the profiles.ini file, it "corrects" it to C:\Users\owner\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\ even though the switch 'relative' is off.

[Profile1] Name=default IsRelative=1 Path=Profiles/zpfeu8eu.default Default=1

[Profile0] Name=default-beta IsRelative=0 Path=C:\Users\owner\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird

Running the Mozilla application with a specific profile using command line arguments brings up the program but no mail. It creates a lock file in the correct directory, but no joy.

I get no pop up error messages.

Our IMAP server is set up with something called "Dynamic Delivery", which replaces each attachment with a link to the file stored on a server. It then scans the file and replaces the link with the original attachment.

The problem is that I'm using a filter to remove the message from the server immediately, so I get the "stripped' copy of the file with just the link, and evidently the link is invalidated once the message has been scanned.

Is there a way to get Thunderbird to delay before downloading messages? I think that would solve the problem almost always. I don't want to have to leave the messages on the IMAP server, there's a retention cutoff and I want my messages to persist.

Been using TB since before it was Eudora. I am still on rev 60-9-1. I use an AddOn that allows me to edit the subject line - this is an ESSENTIAL function, since senders do not use any orderly system for the subject, and I need to change it around in order to search & find them later.

When was it made an integral function - and if not, by now, why the hell not?

Seeing lots of grief about rev 115. What other POP mail apps for Macintosh still exist? All web based mail viewers have lousy interfaces, not to mention that you have to download mail one at a time, and then its just a bunch of files on your computer.

If I upgraded from 60-9-1, how high can I go without it creating a new install and having to go thru the process of saving my Profile.ini etc in their hidden directory and putting them into the 'fresh' install ?

I can send messages. My ISP is Earthlink and I am running Thunderbird 115.8.0 on Windows_NT 10.0 19045 on old laptop. This seems to happen when I get new installs of Thunderbird. But usually if I do the following, then messages can be downloaded:

empty the provided folders [Inbox to Trash] compact folders clear history, cache, & disk space delete Inbox and Inbox.msf in my profile delete Mozilla cookies in Firefox [yes, I realize this is not relevant, but I am desperate] close Thunderbird, sign out of Windows session, and Shutdown or Restart

This time I have even tried Troubleshooting mode, but nothing seems to help. Another clue, Thunderbird is not always asking for my ISP's password like it usually does at the start of a session.

Hello all I just started my thunderbird after years of outlook. And I have donated money I hope this helps to keep this alive. With recent 2FA changes I have had to move here. it is years of old emails and for now I am getting them to review later.

But everyone seems nice here.

When I am downloading I notice limits on number of messages in one mailbox in Thunderbird. One mailbox is everything inside one email username right?

Sometimes it stops at 10, 000 Is the limit based on thunderbird or the email server I am getting my emails from ???

I create templates to keep copies of regular correspondence. I copy this text to paste into reply's to enquiries - (yes I know that not the purpose of a template but its the simplest way to have copies of regular reply's on hand) As of today - text copied from a template will not "paste" into an email - it will only "paste without formatting" - which means layout and hyperlinks are not supported . Has worked successfully for a couple of years - but now no. I haven't added any extensions or upgraded systems - it just stopped today - so annoying - any ideas

I currently have Thunderbird(TB) using POP with a hosted email provider(HEP) with my own DNS. I am going to transfer to a different HEP where I am told I can keep my current mail address/name . Is it possible for me to continue using my current folders after I transfer? My searches have come up with various responses for an IMAP setup but I haven't been able to find anything for my POP setup. Could someone help me with this please?
