Umm, I've been bouncing around support.mozilla.org for 15 minutes now looking for the forum for asking Thunderbird questions. I always seem to get redirected to a page that only has Seamonkey. Could some kind soul please point me the right way to find Thunderbird?

I raised this issue earlier and Agnes responded. However, the response did not solve my problem, which I do not blame anyone for. I would like to provide some more information which might contribute to a solution: Earlier this year as the result of an IMAP server problem, I lost some mail that should have been saved in local folders but weren't. I have used TB for many years but due to my unfamiliarity with directories and file structures, I subsequently relied on the services of an online IT expert to help retrieving the mail from a previously saved profile. Somehow he copied and pasted the folders and data into the directory Mail/Local Folder/Archive.sbd/TEMP.sbd. Archive and TEMP folders both contain the same .msf folders, which is a bit weird! However, while whatever he did works on the "old" laptop, it doesn't work on the new. I can see the TEMP folder and data in the profile copied to the new TB installation, and the conundrum now is to figure out how to open it in TB on the new laptop? I tried to upload a screenshot of the relevant directory and .msf files, unfortunately the process is very slow, so I have abandoned the idea for now. Can anyone else offer some guidance?

I have created a "master" subfolder (e.g.: "Yearly ALL") in my email account. As 2020 approaches, I want to copy the entire subfolder and all the subfolders beneath the "master" subfolder to a 2019 archive folder (e.g.: "2019_in").
What is the easiest method to copy, yes copy, the entire master subfolder "Yearly ALL" to be a subfolder within my Archive, within "2019_in"?
I surmise by copying. I'll have two sets of identical messages. Then after the "copy" is successful, I can empty each subfolder.
Likewise, by using a "move" or drag & drop I would need to create all new subfolders and reenter all my rules, about 60.
Below is my master subfolder with about 3.000 messages in all the subfolders which go down about four levels..

I'm running 68.2.2 and the install file is Thunderbird Setup 68.2.2.exe. But everytime the app loads, it asks if I want to update. Clicking through to the web page, just downloads the same file. Done this about 10 times. (Yes I don't have much of a life) Op Sys is Windows 10 Home, ver 1809, build 17763.864.

However again Win 10 did not allow this. So I have come up with this answer. I pasted the screen shot into the e mail that I want to send to agnes. Then I found that I could save that e mail into a file. I am now attaching that file which contains the e mail which contains the screen shot. This is a very difficult way to reply to you Hpwever I have the file in a folder but am not allowed to attach it to this mail as the file is in fact an email
I am now becoming pretty stuck. I suppose I must try putting it into an image. It won't take a word document. Nor a PDF

Outlook (exchange) with the help of Owl was working in Thunderbird until yesterday.
Microsoft has a recurring issue (aside from the Thunderbird issue) in which you keep being asked to "fix" your Microsoft account by logging in again. Many people have reported this issue to Microsoft.
In Thunderbird, this was workable because Thunderbird would simply display the login page, able to login each time Thunderbird opens to retrieve Outlook messages
This no longer works.
Now, the Login page for Outlook flashes on and immediately closes, with the message in the bottom tray reading: "login expired. please log in to your account and try again." No way to do that but to launch Thunderbird again, and the situation happens again.
If I add this same outlook account AGAIN within the same session, that account receives my messages, after which I delete the first Outlook account from Thunderbird.. every time. Not a workable situation.
I love Thunderbird for all my pop and imap accounts and really don't want to have to use two apps.

I have been using autoconfig (thunderbird.cfg) for many years. After switching from 52.9.1 to 60.9.0, my script began to behave strangely. Among other things, it changes the contents of some preferences using the pref() function. In particular, ldap_2.servers.public.uri. Earlier, when calling pref ("ldap_2.servers.public.uri", "new value"), the contents of this line simply changed, but now a new section is created containing the old values "ldap_2.servers.public.uri", "ldap_2.servers.public.filename" and "ldap_2.servers.public.description" under the names "ldap_2.servers.public_1.uri", "ldap_2.servers.public_1.filename" and "ldap_2.servers.public_1.description". On the next change, they become "public_2", and "public" again becomes "public_1". As a result, instead of changing the way I access the server depending on my IP address, I get a new address book every time thunderbird starts.
How to return the old behavior of the pref() function or change the value of named preference in another way?
And by the way, why now getPref("extensions.enabledAddons") always returns NULL?

I have been using thunderbird for ages in the "just mark as deleted" mode, and I send EXPUNGE ("Compact") when I am ready to, and not before. Lately something has been expunging without my commanding it. A local log reveals that tbird has two IMAP connections open at all times, and one of them sends a "close" command (which implies expunge) just before it exits, and possibly at other times -- messages vanish spontaneously a few seconds to a minute after I mark them. Nothing I can do with server settings makes this stop. Can you please put back the old behavior, where it never sends EXPUNGE or CLOSE without being explicitly commanded to, when "Just mark it as deleted" is selected for the IMAP account? 60.9.0 "release" update channel, on MacOS X 10.14.6.

My most current computer (bought 1 month ago) had thunderbird set up and working with gmail. Suddenly today it cannot access. I deleted the account and reloaded it into Tbird but I am getting an error that my name or password is incorrect. But my other 2 computers that also use Thunderbird are accessing the gmail account just fine with the same username and password. I tried rebooting the computer, and I checked the imap settings for the servers and they are identical across all computers. I am using OAth2 and I have gmail configured to let less secure apps work with it. If I change the gmail account password I can access on my old faithful computers once I input the new password. Sadly the newer computer still rejects the newest computer. And this occurred today all of a sudden. I was getting the gmail for a month until today and I did not change anything or update. Oh, in case anyone asks - I did disable my firewall but that didn't help. BTW, all 3 computers operate on Windows10.
Anyone have any ideas?

I've tried closing the program and reopening it but still no success. Please help...
