115.5.1. It has been months now since the redesign and this is still so buggy I encounter bugs constantly. Most critical is if I highlight something and try to drag it to a new location it gets deleted. No undo function available. What was highlighted is just gone permanently. I try to remember to instead copy and paste then delete from the former location but I keep forgetting and lose everything. Entire paragraphs I wanted to relocate. If I do try to copy and paste it doesn't paste on the first attempt. It pastes the second time.

At this point I think I have to switch to Webmail for sending out an email. I just can't deal with broken Thunderbird any more.

I just copied my whole profile folder from a Debian 12 (Thundebird 115.7) to a Ubuntu 22.04 (Thunderbird 115.8). I expected when running it, to find it in the exact same state because, as what I'm aware of, everything is stored in the profile and nowhere else on the filesystem.

But, I found that: - my favorite folders (around 10) weren't there (well, only 1 of them) - A lot of mails were in "unseen" state (not the unread/read marker, but that star that appears the first time you open a folder for mails that has just been downloaded), where they were already seen

So my concern is about where/how are those values supposed to be stored, and why they don't seem to "migrate" as well? And, may there be some other things that didn't come too?

I am receiving the following message: The RETR command did not succeed. Error retrieving message. Mail server.comcast.net responded: Message 9 expunged.

The message number does change each time I try to download my messages. Thanks for any help. Rob

In early November I made a payment to Mozilla for Thunderbird. The program updated and all seemed well.

What I didn't realize until far too late was that the "delete after xx days button" was pushed and all my emails have been disappearing ever since then. Some were critical. And they are gone forever. Even my archive file is gone. If Thunderbird is going to do a full restore to defaults during any upgrade, that should be announced clearly. My life, and my grand daughter's life have been impacted by this glitch in the Mozilla system and I now regret having paid them a nickel.

CAUTION: watch out for the upgrades and check your file immediately afterwards. And if you ever need to contact Mozilla? Forget it. I liked the Netscape connection with Firefox but this situation really cuts deep. Particularly since it was so unnecessary.

Hi there,

Been using thunderbird for some time and is far better than outlook.

I was going to open a feature request but can't find any option on github. Will like to see a remove empty directory feature where a user can scan for empty folders in email accounts or in a selected area, by right clicking and then simply move the empty folders to the bin. Very often when moving emails from Gmail or other providers, one would end up with empty folders which would have to manually be deleted.

I recently changed hosting company for my email address. When I put the new server settings (IMAP) into Thunderbird, it happily showed me the new emails, but all my messages from the previous server suddenly disappeared. Are they really gone, or are they stored somewhere?

most of my emails are going directly to trash. also, some emails in trash that I delete will end up back in trash. I know, its kind of crazy.

Most of my emails are going to trash, once in a while I may get one in my inbox, not very often. I now just go to trash for my emails, I am not very tech good but have tried and my son also tried, but we couldn't fix it, we probably may it worse. So I am coping by using trash as my inbox. I know this is not a permanent solution and would very much like to know what I did wrong and get it fixed so I won;t screw it up again. Thank you for your time.

I have checked SMTP server settings - appear to be OK as the internet supplier expects. This suddenly started to happen about a week ago. other Emails sent via hotmail and gmail not now affected .

I had to get SPF or DKIM on my suppliers mail server to allow gmail emails to be sent.

All email addresses receive emails so that part is OK

To all a happy holiday season. It's time for another rousing rendition of an oldie, but goody! "Unable to login in at server. Probably wrong configuration,username or password."! Windows 11 version. So I utilize 3 different gmail account addresses. Accounts 1 & 2 loaded up fine. Account 3 has the exact display name, gmail address, and YES, the correct password. I have checked this on gmail from my windows 11 laptop, and my android email app which used Firefox as the browser to get to Google. Soooo...I know, right, it's been posted and somewhat answered here a zillion times. However it's never straightforward on whether its a corrected reply. NOTHING, and I mean, I've looked in every nook and cranny, uninstalled Tbird, reloaded. Cleared everything, cache, registry, tickets to see Taylor S. Nothing works. Yes, I checked for upgrades. Rebooted. Stepped away from computer, watched Seahawks win win win. Came back to computer. Still...nothing magically changed (you know that sometimes airing-it-out does work). Can anyone help here? I have Thunderbird on my laptop and also on my desktop. I have had for years.

I have not experienced problems. I like Thunderbird.

However for 9 days now I can'r receive emails on my desktop even though, with the same settings I can on my laptop.

I have spoken at length with my broadband provider (Sky) and my business web hosting company (Ionos). Neither has been able to help. They both recommend contacting Thunderbird (ie Mozilla).

I am using the same email address and server password as I do on other devices including Sky Web mail on a browser, successfully. However it doesn't work with the Thunderbird desktop email client I have installed (which is also the most up to date).

Please help

The portion of my screen that displays all my emails will not let me shrink it down to three or four emails showing. I have many times used the up/down screen arrow to expand or contract it in the past. Currently it will not shrink down to less than 8 emails displayed. This reduces the amount of an email message that can be displayed. I have tried unloading and reloading Thunderbird with no change.
