Is there some way I can change the order in which email accounts are presented in the left panel on Thunderbird (91.9.0 (64-bit))? Perhaps a config file within the profile?

I note that in the preferences/settings, you can activate the account with the mouse, but you can't drag/drop to change order (maybe a useful feature to have?).

Latest version of Thunderbird installed. Today, all attachments come in as winmail.dat files. I have removed and reinstalled LookOut (fix version), twice. Restarted TB and computer. No luck. PDF viewer is not compatible with my version of Thunderbird. Cannot open any file. I use this program exclusively. What am I missing? Thanks in advance. P.S. This seems to be a recurring issue.

In a previous thread 5 years ago, it has been asked how the e-mail filters can be backed-up. Back then, the suggestion was to locate the msgFilterRules.dat in the profile folder.

I just created a new user profile in Thunderbird 91.9.0 and I created some new filters, but the file msgFilterRules.dat hasn't appeared in the profile directory. Has the file been changed? Any tips on how to back-up the filters? Using Ubuntu 20.04.

SOLVED: one has to do the following steps:

1. Go to Help>More troubleshooting information>Profile Directory > Open directory 2. Right click, open in Terminal 3. type the command "find . -name 'msgFilterRules.dat'

this will list all the filters, dependent on different e-mail servers

I recently updated Thunderbird to 101. from a much earlier version, and of course it destroyed all my custom settings. I found most of the addons I had previously were no longer valid. I managed to get a lot of the previous functionality back with settings and other addons, but one still has me stumped. When I bring a message up, I have it set to fully occupy the screen. There are some buttons at the top of the message header I was able to get working, like Reply, Forward, and Delete. But 2 that I use (or use to use) a lot are the Next message, and Previous message buttons. I can't seem to find any way to get them going again. Is there some way to get a link button, or icon for these in the message header?

Hi, Quite recently, my main INBOX (unified folders) does not have the incoming counter working. It used to pick up everything from all addresses. I have obviously done something to make this happen, but I don't recall touching anything ! When things are running ok, I just leave 'em alone. Coincidentally I'm sure, but it started around my last 'update'. Any ideas please ?

I'd like to be able to configure the format of numbered lists, both for a particular list in an email, and as a default template that will apply to all future emails that I compose.

I can find no documentation on how numbered lists are supposed to work. Mine are currently giving me roman numerals at all levels, e.g.

1. Top level

 1.  Next level
   1.  Lower level

I've come across some interesting options, including particularly https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/que.../1052897, which I've tried, but it doesn't work for me.

Keep losing my emails on my pc after 3 weeks using Thunderbird. Tried checking settings many times but cannot fixed the problem. I basically want to keep my emails permanently on my pc once downloaded from my email server. Also I once downloaded I want to clear emails from the email server which has only got a limited capacity. Please help or advice where the settings are to do the above thanks a lot. I have already spent many hours on this but cannot figure this out. After 3 weeks Thurderbird removed all my emails on my pc

Hi, every time i upload csv file to run in local outbox, it sends email on the basis of time . Is there anyway to sort emails by correspondent name and send it accordingly.

Is there anyway to reset the dates or remove the dates from drafts. i have multiple emails to send, and for some reason , I would like to either give same date/time to the selected emails or completely remove it.

This button has never worked for me. If I want to manually check for emails, I have to use the down arrow beside it and select one of my two email addresses. Do I need to check a box somewhere in both account settings to tell Thunderbird to use the control?

I am trying to create an HTML signature block. I need to add an image to my signature. In the Help for adding signatures, it says to use the menu item 'Insert > Image'. I cannot find any such menu item.

The version of my Thunderbird is 91.9.1

Please indicate where I can find this function.

is there a setting for mail composition that shows a line ending symbol for the email's content? I mean something like the pilcrow (looks like a reversed uppercase P letter) in Microsoft Word.

Or is there an add-on for that?

Your system is a DOG, I had to reset my laptop and when I reinstalled Thunderbird, I didnt know there was box to Check/uncheck about leaving emails on your server, so to dumped all my emails older than 14 days.

I did try the forum to try and find a repair and only got 1 comment from a Matthew ( I think)

Total waste of time!!!!!

I have swapped to Outlook, cost a little but far better for safety.

I would like to hide the "Switch to the calendar tab" and "Switch to the tasks tab" toolbar buttons that appear in the Thunderbird 91 top bar (title bar?).

I've tried the methods suggested for prior Thunderbird versions that employ userChrome.css, and they do not work.

Is it possible to hide these toolbar items?

Hello I try to move emails with the filter function (from x to z). Both folders exist. I can not choose the destination folder. It is dimmed and says "Destination folder not available". Thank you Heinrichxx

For years when I compose an email, my address book appeared on the left column.

Somehow today it disappeared. How can I get it back to the above location when composing an email?

There is a website that I block every day from my email. And every day it shows up again with the same email address. I use the message filter "from, contains" . Yet every day the same web site appears.

The site is " newsletter@zerohedge.com". How is the site bypassing my message filter? Other sites I block do not do this.
