I've been running Thunderbird beta for some time, on one of my Macs. Presently at 101.0b3. It's fine, I don't have any bugs/issues, but I want to downgrade to release and keep my installation uniform.

Now, of course I've read many people do this -- they don't set up duplicate Profiles for it (guilty here).

But what I'm seeing is perhaps a need for some more portability. Namely, if someone has only IMAP accounts, would it be useful to enable export of accounts/credentials in a format that can be imported and is generally portable within the Thunderbird ecosystem?

I see there is an add-on, of unknown (to me) origin or quality -- but it only runs on an older version.

In my case, I have a handful of accounts and while I see you can individually export something from the accounts panel, I don't see any meaningful way to translate that to another version (ie: release) of Thunderbird. Granted, this is not a task that someone does every day (imagine??) but it's a thought.

I wonder, too, if there can be alternate mechanisms to store account information in a secure manner that can be portable -- ie: in the cloud, encrypted -- in a file, etc.

OK that went onto a tangent, sorry -- but as far as I can see, the only option I have is to install the release version of Thunderbird (my beta Profile backed up) and go through the tedium of manually adding accounts.

Am I missing something?

Hi! Can you please help me understand why this is happening?

1. When I randomly check my emails through the search function, the emails can not be found on the location it states they are. Ex. location=all mail , but when I search ALL mail , the email in not there.

1. I have SAME Email but the timestamp in Thunderbird is 1 minute less than the time stamp in the Gmail. Ex. In Gmail time stamp is 11:04 am , in thunderbird it is 11:03am

I encounter an error when sending a message with an on-premises exchange server. With Windows, an error window appears and is automatically closed. On Linux, the window remains displayed, which is problematic. In both cases, the message is sent and copied to the sent messages folder The windows error message says "copy to sent folder error" (obviously wrong) In console the error raised after QUIT command of mailnews.smtp with the error code 2152398868.

the error was reported by several of our users and I was able to reproduce it.

My Thunderbird app has not received or notify me of any emails for the past two days. I've had to use it on google in able to see my emails. It just has a continuous loading sign when i say get mail and nothing comes through. I have tried uninstalling the app and redownloading it too

I never could get Virtual Identity or Correct Identity to consistently work predictably, so after many months twiddling them, I removed them. Then I needed to test what I had to do to live without them. There's a problem.

(The email addresses and accounts are fakes, but you'll get the idea.)

When I send this message to myself at a different account:

To: to@gmail.com
Reply-To: replyto@gmail.com

me.to gets the message fine. When I compose a reply, I expect this:

To: replyto@gmail.com
Reply-To: to@gmail.com

But I get this:

To: replyto@gmail.com
Reply-To: to+arf@gmail.com

to+arf@gmail.com was a virtual identity. So it appears that something is screwed. But what is screwed and how would I fix it?

I'm trying to setup IMAP settings for an iCloud account using a custom domain. I'm running into a authentication problem. I don't get a lot of feedback from the error: Login to account "sss@yyy.com" failed Login to server imap.mail.me.com with username sss@yyy.com failed

I'm using an app specific password [0] and my iCloud account as the username which is also based on my custom specific domain yyy.com. I've also tried my iCloud alias which maps to aliasname@icloud.com as the username as well as "aliasname" without the @icloud.com. No luck with any of the permutations.

Any hints on troubleshooting this? Any issues people are seeing with iCloud IMAP and/or using custom domains with it that might help me with this?

On clicking on shortcut got "You have launched an older version etc" I didn't know I had more than one! Find I cannot get Tb any other way than downloading fresh copy. Have now lost all of calendar, and Tb now has "calendar" listed on left side, but no calendar present. How to get? Would it be a good idea to have the calendar stored somewhere separately so it can't be lost this way??

Since the recent Updates, I am having pronlems using Firefox and getting mail with Thunderbird. Firefox will open endless Tabs. After deleting about 5 or 6 of them, I can sometimes use one but just as often cannot use FF at all. Thunderbird refuses to OPEN! If after many trys, I can get Thunderbird open, I have trouble getting mail or, I get many of the same messages. It is a real fight to get any use out of Firefox and Thunderbird. If I knew how, I would revert to previous versions. I am using WINDOWS on a PC and have used both Firefox and Thunderbird for many years with never a problem until this recent update. bribling@yahoo.com

I'm not seeing my task lists in the Google calendar list when I add a new calendar. I still have the Provider add-on installed but it seems to be bypassed by the internal TB add calendar functionality. That is I don't see an add Google Calendar option any more only Computer and Network. Using Network and my gmail email address I get shown my Google calendars but not my task lists. I would like TB to catch up with tasks but can wait. Or am I missing some thing?

BTW I tried Mailbird and it shows me all my Google calendars and task lists, but its expensive so not an option.

Hi all,

I've tried various solutions posted here to move my Thunderbird mail profile to a new hard drive/installation of Thunderbird, and nothing is working. I didn't have the foresight to copy the entire Thunderbird folder out before my HD had to be replaced, and I just copied the individual mail folders inside the Profiles folder (which always worked in the past). Now, no matter where I past them inside the new installation (whether it's AppData > Roaming > Thunderbird > Profiles) or some variation thereof, I either get nothing upon launching TB, or I get empty folders where my emails used to be.

I'm desperate to recapture these emails - I launched a new business last year and all the track record of new accounts/links are in those emails. Can anyone help me? There used to be an add-on posted here but it was later posted that that, also, is now defunct. I also have about 15 years of old Eudora emails from my existing business that I rely on for a "paper trail" that I can't afford to lose.

If there is a repair utility I can buy, I'm willing to do that. I just need to know what to do here. Thanks for any help anyone can send my way.

Hi guys,

I used for a long time Mozilla Thunderbird for multiple mailboxes. Now, when I try to access one of them, I get this message: "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password".

I use Zoho services for mailboxes, but all the other mailboxes are working properly with same settings. I changed password, deleted mailbox account in order to try to set it up again, but didn't work.

Can you please help?

I have changed to Oauth2 and have used google to log in & get emails, so far no problem.

Now I still want to use a password to get emails every time I use thunderbird now I have Oauth2 set there is no need to log in.

How do I make a change still using Oauth2 so that I still have to enter a password

This is to re-open thread 1322371. I recently (2 weeks ago) upgraded from Ubuntu 18.04 to 20.04. In the process I did a general update of all apps (part of the global update process) and ended up with TB 91.8.1 build 20220413002405. The problem reported in thread 1322371 has started for this build (previously never seen) with the same symptom and work around. However, although I haven't really been scrupulous observing and analysing, I get the sense that it is manifesting itself only on the inbox. I have a mail system of over 4G of mailboxes now and there are some mailboxes that have quite a large number of messages in. It looks like the problem only happens with the inbox. Also looking at the old thread (people reporting all messages disappearing) I find that the messages disappear after using the quick filter (1. insert a string into quick filter, hit enter; 2. Do something with the shorter list of messages (read, move, delete etc); 3. all messages disappear; 4. (work around) click on another mail box then back to inbox: all messages reappear. Nice one :) Over to you guys

I manage multiple Thunderbird client installations and would like to use the user.js file as a way keep a few options consistent across all clients such as calendar category colors. I can see changes needed from time to time and am looking for a way to deploy these future changes as efficient as possible. Since each installation has it's own profile location and I can't seem to find a Windows environment variable to locate Thunderbird profile directory location, I thought it would be nice to have a command in user.js pointing itself to a centrally located file to read in the contents as if the contents of my central file were actually in the user.js file. This way, I could add this framework manually to each client, but then update my central file to make future changes applied the next time the client is started.

Here's something I've never seen in more than 20 years of using Thunderbird. It's more of an aggravation than anything else, but I'm asking about it because I hope it's not a sign of something more serious:

I receive: "Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.office365.com timed out. Try again."

But the message does send. This happens mostly with my Hotmail account, but also sometimes with either of my two Gmail accounts.

This started after an update to Thunderbird; one of the v. 91 updates, I think. None of my settings changed and I've done nothing different to the Thunderbird settings in years. I'm running Thunderbird on Xubuntu 20.04, 64 bit, and the current Thunderbird is 91.9.0.

Any thoughts? And thanks for your help.

Since Friday 5/13 I have not been able to send emails from Thunderbird. I have read just about every thread and did everything people have suggested but still having the same issue. When I try to send an email, it will give me the "sending of the message failed" message and when I move that down there is the "creating mail message" bar that is behind it. I've had our IT guy look at it and he cannot figure it out. Any help would be appreciated!
