When I open Thunderbird I get a message that there are no E-mails to download however I get the audio signal that there are messages there. When I click on get messages they are downloaded OK. Seems like the audio is correct and the message wrong. Any ideas please.

I was exploring this new 115 of Thunderbird and ended up wiping the message viewer off the screen.

To start with, I have my TBird 115 as it came "out of the box." Three columns, Inbox folder tree on the left, Cards List in the center, and message pane in the right side.

I messed everything up when I widened the Cards list to the right edge of the window, where the <---> arrowhead disappeared and all there is to the right side is the window resize arrow from my Linux system and that awful slim Jim scroll bar.

I recovered my message pane using F8 key; it is below my short list of email in the Cards View. See the attached screenshot.

I would like to return things back to as they were with the three columns as described above. I forgot, too, where I turned on Classic View. There is a checked box in Settings somewhere. Or is it a menu? I need some help, please.

May I suggest a limit somewhere short of the right-side edge of the window and short of the scroll bar to only widen the message pane "so far," such that one can recover from pushing it that far, using the same means to return it with the double arrow.

OS: Linux Mint 21.3 Cinnamon Thunderbird 115 MintBox Mini 2 Pro computer

I'd like to be able to configure the format of numbered lists, both for a particular list in an email, and as a default template that will apply to all future emails that I compose.

I can find no documentation on how numbered lists are supposed to work. Mine are currently giving me roman numerals at all levels, e.g.

1. Top level

 1.  Next level
   1.  Lower level

I've come across some interesting options, including particularly https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/que.../1052897, which I've tried, but it doesn't work for me.

Please help!

My home page of emails only lists the headers and no longer shows the first few lines of the body of the message. No matter what I try - in view etc - I can't get it restored to what I used to have. Please help! Thanks

I'm a longtime Thunderbird user, but I've never used this Thunderbird "get help" site and I don't know how to respond to Matt to give him details and thanks. How do I respond to his response? Ralph

Hey, I would like to move my thunderbird profile (including all the old emails) from my old PC to a new MacBook. Before I buy the MacBook, I would like to verify that this is indeed feasible. I have migrated my Thunderbird profile from PC to PC and found it very intuitive. Is it essentially the same process for migrating the profile from PC to the MacBook? I assume the folder would be slight different but there will no not be a conflict due to the data format, right? I would be grateful for a brief confirmation / some advise. Thank you! Simon

At a point this evening, I was unable to send mail using Thunderbird. SMTP outgoing mail.wowway.com Port:587 Shows error message: Error message: C20 from mail server. Just so you know WOWAY.com is Wide Open West located (HQ) in Colorado. They employ Synacor to do their email server needs, great, another variable. I need to send email, from this desktop workstation. Clue, I even use win 7 sp1 on a self built rig that matches the hardware and software. BUT, believe it or not, today was update Tuesday which is just a security rollup from Microsoft these days. Hmmmm. I have tried everything. Thunderbird ver: 102.2.2 (32 bit) although my whole system runs on 64 bit. Sounds almost patchworthy, I'm not the only one.

Good morning. I badly need help with Thunderbird, which has been acting very strangely for some days. To make things as clear as possible, let me first give the details of my setup. I am using an iMac running OS High Sierra. These are my Thunderbird account settings:

Server type: IMAP mail server User name: mail@myaccount.com Server name: xxxxx.hpdns.net Port: 993 Connection Security: SSL/TLS Authentication: Normal pw

Outgoing Server (SMTP): xxxxx.hpdns.net - xxxxx.hpdns.net User name: mail@myaccount.com Port: 465 Connection Security: SSL/TLA Authentication: Normal pw

The problem: Endless churning when I attempt to download emails, leading eventually to a “server timed out” error message. However, a further wrinkle: sometimes a few emails will come through anyway. When I try to send a message, more churning, then an error message saying “Sending of message failed. The message could not be sent because connecting to the Outgoing server (SMTP) xxxxx.hpdns.net failed. The server may be unavailable or is refusing SMTP connections. Please verify settings and try again”. Sometimes, when I try again, I get a different error message: “Your draft message was not copied to your drafts folder due to network or file access errors”.

What is particularly confusing and distressing is the seemingly random and inexplicable nature of the problems, and the fact that until about ten days ago, Thunderbird worked fine. Any assistance would be very welcome.

A suggestion for Thunderbird developers.

Currently attachments are hidden behind a collapsed menu, why?

Could we please start with that menu open? It would save me 50 clicks a day, which might be a few hours a year.

My thunderbird always requires a password when accessing from a new travel location. To solve this, I need to enter outlook from the web, then verify with a second email, then reenter the password in Thunderbird.

Can Thunderbird/Outlook not remember my Notebook device?

I am using a Mac with Big Sur (macOS Monterey, Version 12.7.4), and my email is POP, using Thunderbird Version 115.9.0. I retrieve the mail header first, then I click on "Download the rest of the message" if I wish to read the full message. When I click "Download the rest of the message" to see the contents of the actual message Thunderbird downloads the rest of the message but then displays the next message in the list of messages.The message I had wanted to read now becomes the previous message in the list. I then have to go back and click on the message itself to see its contents. Please correct.

Dear support team, My thunderbird freezes temporarily whenever it is checking for emails (IMAP accounts). It is as if the thread that takes care of the GUI/user interaction is blocked while the emails are being checked. I have version 102.4.2 on a Ubuntu 22.04 system (lenovo thinkpad T440s), but it has been going on for a couple of months already (so the problem must have appeared already with several earlier versions). I had exactly this problem already before a recent OS update from Ubuntu 20.04. I have also another computer with Ubuntu 20.04, where I use thunderbird, with the same IMAP accounts set up, and where I never had this problem. Every time I open TB, it crashes and displays 'Not Responding'. I have tired to open in safe mode but the same happens. Sometimes it opens up crashes so I leave it and it slowly starts to work, then it works okay for about an hour then crashes again.

I can't get a crash report as TB wont open and I'm unable to click any buttons.

I have tried %APPDATA%\Thunderbird\Crash Reports\ but only get 5 or 6 txt files containing about 10 to 11 numbers? Not sure if this helps?

Internode have stopped providing email services, and are using The Messaging Company. I want to re-estiblish my Thunderbird account that I was using previously. Can someone explain (simply please) how to re-activate? Many thanks Sue

I use ionos mail / thunderbird for edited email from public] @919roslyn.com I now get messages for multiple addresses from the ionos mail server. Ho\w do I limit to only [edited email from public] @919roslyn.com

Something has updated and I have lost all of the email folders I have built up over the last 8 years or so, I can't even access all the thousands of deleted emails, nothing. I have tried doing stuff with "profiles" but no joy so far, can anyone make this simple?
