Your site tells me that I have to go to the 'options' tab in order to change my password but there is NO options tab and no matter where I look I cannot find where password are stored or how they can be changed. I have windows 10. I've also tried using thunderbird on a different (windows 7) machine and can't get it to work at all. It's not exactly user friendly is it? I guess if you're a techie and love finding this stuff out then it's great but for a normal non-techie it's pretty hopeless trying to navigate around

Hi I have some questions on downloading Gmails to Thunderbird:

1. Can I simultaneously download 2 or more Gmails to Thunderbird? If yes, how would be the arrangement of emails will be? Will it be mixed together or separated?

2. Is there a limit as to how many Gmails can I download to Thunderbird?

I'm using Thunderbird for gmail in IMAP mode. In my IMAP folder, I have a Junk subfolder, and in my Gmail subfolder I have a Spam subfolder. What is the difference between these? Does Gmail determine Spam, and Thunderbird determine Junk? Are BOTH Spam and Junk used for the Thunderbird adaptive junk filter log?

Thunderbird crashes and hangs up many times every day. I am using a macbook pro, OS Monterey, 12.3.1 and Thunderbird 91.9.0 (64-bit).

When I try and submit the crash report I get an error page on submit that reads "Bad Request (400)". Trying this short thing in case the problem is how long that is ...

I would be grateful if there is an answer to exporting the Thunderbird address book not in the .csv format into my Win 10 downloads file. I have had a new PC and had a nightmare sorting out my address book. A CSV app restored them but all over the place and have spent hours sorting the name and email addresses. I have tried copy and paste, no luck. Tried all the five 'save as types' but again no real success. I want save them in a simpler fashion. The font cannot be used when creating a message "arial narrow" Is there any way to install and use it? The font works in office applications, but thunderbird does not have it. How to restore and use it ??

I have lost my computer in a lightning strike and had Thunderbird on the old one. I use Linux mint and Thunderbird was preinstalled. But I can't use it because it always asks me for a password. I never used a password on my old computer and so I am stuck with using the web based email. What is the problem? Were do I get that password from? Do I need it at all?

I've used Outlook 2013 to manage my gmail for a number of years. I recently received an email from google stating that versions of Outlook 2016 and earlier will no longer work for gmail after 5/30/22. According to them, only newer versions of Outlook will offer the required "sign-in with Google" option. If this is correct, I'd like to move away from Outlook because the newer versions of Outlook may not work with my Windows 8.1 OS. To avoid the expense and possibility that a new version of Outlook may not work on my PC, I'm exploring Thunderbird. I'm very concerned about losing emails both in my inbox and the sub-folders I've created within my inbox. Am I correct in assuming that since I'm on an IMAP protocol with google that I'd be able to pull all of that same email from my inbox, and sub-folders within my inbox directly into Thunderbird? If my assumption is correct, will Thunderbird upon import automatically set up the same sub-folders with contents under my new inbox? I know that I have some cleaning up to do, is there a size limitation on how much Thunderbird can handle? Thank you!

I am getting daily phishing emails from .gmail where there are obviously no Google controls to prevent. How can I block the entire domain in Thunderbird? Thanks

The answer I found is pretty obvious, one has to search at "Options/Calendar/Categories".

But where do I find the "Calendar" section? Even using the search engine on the option page doesn't show any results.

Very frustrating... A picture of the location would be very helpful.

I just switched over to Thunderbird after seeing so many people saying it's the gold standard and I am having nothing but headaches with it so far. Hopefully it's just my computer illiteracy that's the problem. Any help would be MUCH appreciated!

The first I'm facing is that emails I open (and even respond to) keep automatically marking themselves as unread. It generally happens several seconds after I click on the message.

Another issue is that some messages I click on won't mark as read automatically, unless I click on another email, then back onto the one I want to respond to a second time, at which point it will finally mark itself as read (and occasionally go unread several seconds later).

A third issue is that when I switch from one email account to another, rather than keeping all unread emails open showing, it will switch to show all emails and it will automatically open a random unread email, which I'll then have to manually set back to unread before responding to the email I want to respond to. It also means I have to change the emails shown to all unread again, as well as having to change the date (I like to have newest emails at the top - Thunderbird insists on having them at the bottom). I already have the pin selected, so in theory it should keep settings from one account to the next, but it doesn't.

A fourth issue is that I'm using Conversations so show my replies in the thread in the inbox a la Gmail. Half of the time my replies show and half of the time they don't, so I have to manually check in the sent folder to see if they've actually been replied to.

I've installed TB to replace my old Opera Mail which is getting too old for support.

I have over 25 000 mails from 2004 onwards.

Export from opera went fine, install into TB went fine and then i've realized that the mails were stored on C and my SSD C drive is too small for that (suggestion for the devs, make an option DURING install to avoid this....)

So I read the tutorials, moved the folder in appdata....then created a new profile which pointed to the folder I've moved to and I mist have done something wrong because I don't see any of the 25 000 old mails.

I created another profile and this time it asked me for my email details (login/pass) which I've entered but I'm back to the same problem.

How can I get out of this ?

I have saved my "original" email folder in which I have an "inbox.sbd" folder that seems to contain my mails and even the folders I've defined when I started setting up TB (before realizing it stored everything on C) so I' just like to use this layout but it won't work.

Should I create a new profile, enter my email infos and then overwrite the inbox.sbd with my old one or is there a sort of "reconstruct" option hidden somewhere ?

In the email client I have just come from the Unread folder contains all unread messages irrespective of the folder they might be in. The Unread filter in Thunderbird appears to relate only to the highlighted folder. I have many folders, the list being long not all are visible on the 'home' view. This means that messages in folders far down the list are only visible if I scroll down looking for them. Is there a way to modify the Unread filter to ensure that all folders are searched for unread messages and displayed together? I am using TB 91.8.1.

Why can't we have a "not junk" button? Am I missing it? Seems pretty standard in all mail programs. Or in the right-click menu? Yes, we can right-click and Move to Inbox, but that's three steps, as opposed to one.

I woke up yesterday and found Windows telling me I needed to restart my PC to install two new monthly updates: KB5013942 (Windows 10) and KB5013624 (.NET) and the related servicing stack.

But after I did, I suddenly found that Thunderbird no longer had the ability to send e-mails -- only receive. The paper airplane icon was greyed out.

After checking some other things, I ran the usual uninstall and the ability to send e-mails was back . . . but it's gone again this morning, and the updates seem to be back. And of course Microsoft doesn't have this as a reported issue yet, either. I hope the problem can be fixed soon -- before my update pause ends.

UPDATE: To clarify the paragraph immediately above . . . this morning, the two Windows updates I'd uninstalled were back -- so, after inputting this question, I re-uninstalled them and re-booted the PC . . . but this time it didn't help. I'm STILL not able to send anything from Thunderbird. For everyone else's sake, I hope I'm the only one who has this problem. But for purposes of getting attention to the issue and getting it FIXED, I hope it's appearing on more and more screens. . . .

I have TB 91. set to a pop server using SSL/TLS but got a message from gmx saying I will not be able to receive emails on TB AS IT USES OUTDATED SECURITY ... After the protocols TLS1.0 and TLS1.1 have been deactivated, the transfer of emails between your affected device or program and our GMX servers will no longer work; i.e. no emails will be transmitted to or from your GMX email account using TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1. Third-party email programs such as Outlook, Thunderbird or pre-installed apps in which you have set up your GMX email account.We recommend that you only use newer devices and programs that support the latest TLS 1.2 or 1.3 encryption protocols and transfer your emails securely. I, like a gjillion other people, received a notice from Google/gmail saying I'm likely to lose access through Thunderbird unless ... blah blah.

I was running TB v59. If stuff works I don't make changes. It makes life simpler. I did a heap of online reading and research about this and found lots of advice. I did the following;

• allowed cookies
• removed passwords
• changed authentication to OAuth2 in both IMAP and SMTP

I got the pop-up gmail/Google window asking me to login. My password is accepted. I am asked to allow access to gmail through Thunderbird. I allow. TB hangs sending security information and then crashes.

I assumed that it must be because I was on an older version of TB. I updated to the latest v91 and checked that the OAuth2 settings are as they should be. All good.

TB waits of a bit and pops up a failure notification. This happens every time. If I click on "Get Messages" or I click on any of my folders, I get the gmail login popup, and I am asked to allow TB, AGAIN, and then failure. I cannot get past this.

I have done enough searching again, but I cannot find anything that helps. Can anyone here help with some guidance please.

I was pretty happy with the FLAWLESS(!) Frontier.com Internet Service UNTIL they unfortunately hired the disorganized YAHOO-Server Service: this UNFRIENDLY YAHOO is once-in-a while interfering when I'm trying to LOGIN to my DEFAULT(!) THUNDERBIRD ...does NOT ALLOW me to LOGIN to THUNDERBIRD AT ALL ...ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!!!
