The last two times I have posted a query here, it was posted twice, even though (to the best of my knowledge) I only hit the 'Submit' button once. This is causing difficulties in receiving & reading replies. Is there a way I can delete the duplicate query from your system, or ask someone to do so? Many thanks.

However when I open Thunderbird there is a security alert in the web panel.

Please add a feature to disable the unread message counter on certain folders. I don't want to see how many messages I have in the Trash folder, they're in this folder because I don't want to read them, but this counter annoys me

imap.gmail.com is configured and working on my main desktop PC via Thunderbird. The account is used strictly for sending out Word mailmerge emails. The setup is using Oauth2 and the IMAP syncing is fully functional. I'm trying to set up an identical IMAP account on a laptop PC to access and synch to the same Gmail account, but am getting a "setup-failed" message. I have used all the same parameters as the desktop setup, but no luck.

Hello! I have used Thunderbird for many years. Lately, it waits much too long to prompt compacting all accounts. When "Compact all folders when it will save over ..." is set down to 1MB total, it still does not prompt until it has to clear 30 or 40 MB.

It didn't do this in the past, prompting me every 2 or 3 days at higher settings. So, I'm curious if this is "normal" now and I need to manually compact, or if there is a problem with 'Account Settings > Disk Space > Compact all folders' ... ?

Hello everyone, I've a question about (local) disk space for IMAP accounts. I have an IMAP account; at the beginning I've checked in "Synchronization & Storage" the flag "Keep messages in all folders for this account on this computer". After a while, after I had received many emails, I've unchecked this; I was expecting the disk space occupied by the account to be released, but it didn't happen. I've also checked in the "Advanced" button, just below the flag "Keep messages in all folders for this account on this computer", that every single folder is NOT checked for offline use.

How can I recover my disk space without losing any email?

During my messing around while trying to solve a UI problem arising from a migration to a new-to-me used Mac, I found a way to change the font size in the "Subject" field of e-mails in their own window, and as an experiment made it larger. It did not change the other problem, which has been solved.

Now I can't re-find that place in any of the settings, and want to change it back to the default. Please, someone, anyone, where is it?

For the longest time I used Eudora until the developers dropped it.

I did play with GMAIL for a while but I'm not too fond of having oligarchs know my every thought.

I even gave Outlook a trial for a couple of years but I grew tired of the damned add-on developers gouging me.

I tried Thunderbird and liked it a great deal. So much so that I happily make a monthly payment to show appreciation.

Okay, so, I switched to Windows Pro 11 and installed Thunderbird. I don't like it at all. Few controls match what I knew and I have better things to do with my days than go digging around to try to figure out what was perfectly comprehensible six months ago.

So, my questions are -

Is there any chance that you will ever add a nice simple button that says "Revert to Earlier Interface"

If that doesn't have a chance in hell of ever coming into being, can you suggest a decent email program that isn't from Big Coder and that can replace Thunderbird?

I'm not stupid or lazy - I worked in IT for 35 years - but I'm long past the point where trying to figure out what the other guy did to a favorite application was enjoyable. Stable and functional is good. New and mystifying is not.

I have lost years of folders for one of my accounts. I know the path of C:\Users\kturl\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles, and have clicked on all the folders there to set up the path to the history. And a related issues, I can only see the Inbox for the account. Is there a phone number for help or can someone help me? This has been going on for now 4 months. Thank you.

I am receiving legitimate invoices from about 6 different suppliers. On my email inbox they are all listed as coming from the same person (who is one of the 6 suppliers I have used.) The only common thing I can see is that they all appears to be using the same accounting software. Is there a setting somewhere - perhaps I have ticked a box accidentally - that causes this to happen? How can I change it so that the legitimate sender is named on the inbox list?

I installed Thunderbird 136.4 (64-bit) today on a new windows 11 Pro PC. I created 4 - POP3 accounts. The 1 gmail address downloaded all older emails from the servers, but the 3 TDS email addresses only downloaded a couple of months of emails. I can't find a setting that will find and download older emails. I checked the online TDS accounts and they have years of emails on them. Anyone else have that problem? Is there a solution anywhere?

According to the Thunderbird 136 Release Notes there is a new Appearance" Settings UI to globally control message threading/sorting order.' How do I find this setting?

Running Thunderbird 136.0 (current as of 14 March 2025) on Windows 11 machine. E-mail account is hosted on office365 and has a personal (i.e., myname@mydomain.com) SMTP error " Connection to server outlook.office365.com timed out" Parameters were set per recent article on thunderbird forum for office365.

New folders created in the 128.8.0esr (64-bit) version of Thunderbird are set to "Threaded" even with the configuration of “mailnews.default_view_flags” value set to “0” for Unthreaded.

For two weeks now Thunderbird has been acting screwy. I have posted a request already regarding those issues but haven't received a reply. (multiple postings of emails/deleted messages reappearing in inbox after being 'deleted', disappeared Notifications options in Settings, duplication of sub-folders which reappear when deleted,and so forth). The entire program appears to be corrupted. SO- now I've been attempting to download a fresh version to make make it right again but get an error message I can't open the download replacement/update/ (c first image) (c-images)

Please help. I have urgent need to send files.

For many years I have enjoyed using Mozilla Firefox Web Browser and Mozilla Thunderbird email client. Apart from the occasional glitch, everything has run well until I installed the latest Thunderbird Version 128.1 esr, earlier this month. I had used Message Filters to move inbox emails directly into my Local Folders. Now there is no option to either create a new folder or create a new sub folder. I tried to convert a little used Local Folder, and lost the sub folders. I don't know where they went and cannot restore them. Q1. I just do not understand how to use this new version. Do Mozilla have an instruction manual for using the V128.1 esr? How do I alter the previous version installation to be compatible with this one? Q 2. If, for the time being, I would like to stick with the familiar previous version, how do I do that? Mozilla are convinced V128.1 esr is a big step forward. I need your help to convince me to change and how to do it. Regards, Colin

I've just resumed using Thunderbird, with a new installation on a new computer, after a long period of having only my ISP's web interface. I'm having a problem with adaptive junk filtering: it thinks everything is junk until I tell it otherwise.

By default, it leaves putative junk messages in the Inbox, but displays a yellow ribbon above a junk message's preview with "Learn more" and "Not junk" buttons. In this configuration, having it assume everything new is junk is just a nuisance.

But eventually I will finish training it, and I'll want it to move junk to the Junk folder automatically. Then this behavior will be a disaster.

Using made-up numbers to illustrate, suppose I get 1000 messages per day. Of these, 998 are from addresses it recognizes, so it knows that 993 of them are junk and 5 are legitimate, because I've received email from those addresses before, and I've told it what to do with them. That leaves 2 messages which may or may not be junk.

It should leave those messages in the Inbox, preferably with some kind of warning, and let me decide whether they are junk or not. Instead it's going to move them to Junk, and I'll never know I got them unless I review all 995 new messages in the Junk folder... which would defeat the whole point of having a junk filter.

Is there a way to make the junk filter default to "not junk" when it doesn't know? I've looked at the configuration dialog, and I don't see one.

Here are the installed settings: 1° IMAP = outlook.office365.com Port: 993 Connection security = SSL/TLS Authentication method = OAuth2 2° SMTP = smtp.office365.com Port: 587 Connection security = STARTTLY Authentication method = OAuth2

When I go to Outlook.fr via my browser, I have no problems accessing the Name account (Mail address + Password). What do I have to do to make it work? Thank you for your reply. Have a nice weekend.
