I am getting regularly getting a random notification sound even when no E-mails have been received.

It seems to be when Thunderbird is automatically checking for E-mails, so for example if i have it set to check for new e-mails every 5 Mins I will get a notification sound every 5 mins or whatever I set that time to.

How do I turn off this sound without affecting the notification when a new e-mail is received.

How is this supposed to work? I am hoping to have a couple of folders from my IMAP configured email account automatically synchronized to LOCAL FOLDERS. But under the 'Synchronization' tab there are not a lot of options, and really only a 'download' button. But does that really synchronize? prevent duplicates? Someone smarter than me, please advise? I have installed the latest version of Thunderbird. I have adjusted the settings . Everything looks fine, but how do I save those settings so they are applied next time I open Thunderbird?

I am using Windows 10. I want to save Table View and Descending Sort Order.

Hi, I just upgraded to 143.0b2 on Ubuntu 22.04, and the bottom status bar disappeared I didn't find anything related in settings, nor in config editor Thanks, Xavier

Pressing "enter" seems to double space next line my text automatically on platforms, and pressing "alt+enter" does single spacing next line. Is there anyway to change it to single spacing? Some older help threads mention going to settings or tools to find the "composition" option but that doesn't seem to exist anymore?

I thought Thunderbird once linked to my yahoo account would save all my emails so I could delete them from Yahoo. I did a test email sent through Yahoo and it shows up in Thunderbird. Then I deleted the email from Yahoo but later I see it is also deleted from Thunderbird.

Hmm? Is there a setting to keep Thunderbird from deleting. Otherwise am I really just archiving all the email into some unusable format on my hard drive?

Local folders are taking up a lot of disk space on my local drive. Is there a way to have Thunderbird access local folders on a network of USB drive instead of the installed volume?

Not a huge problem, but VERY FRUSTRATING! After years of reliable performance, my personalized incoming mail notification sound (wav format) suddenly stopped playing. The 'test' function in settings works fine, but NOTHING happens when actually downloading messages. I've tried EVERY possible FIX, but NO LUCK. Any suggestions? Thanks

Hello I recently noticed that mu Mozilla Thunderbird software did not include anymore all my email addresses in the unified inbox. I can still see all addresses in the left pannel, but two of them are not included in the unified inbox, although until recently they were! Including the main one, the starred one! How can I include them back? I have 143.0 (64-bit) version Thank you

I switched from Gmail, but there's no trash can icon on cards, which is very inconvenient. I don't need advice like "Press Delite" or "Right-click and..." I want to be able to delete emails efficiently without taking my hands off the mouse, like in Gmail or Outlook. Can't I add it as a setting or add-on?

I have looked in the support section and find the suggested articles confusing so this is what I am trying to accomplish.

I wish all messages stored and deleted on Thunderbird to be reflected on the gmail server. So ... if I delete a message in Thunderbird that will be automatically deleted on the gmail server. Easy. I guess this is settings. But the challenge is which settings to play with.

If it is relevant ... I have many folders set up on the Thunderbird client which are not on the gmail server.

Any help really welcome.

Why is threading enabled by default in TB after installation? I add an existing IMAP account to the program. I set sorting by date. If someone replies to an email from a month ago, it's difficult to find it in threading. It used to be possible to enable it manually, but now it's enabled by default. TB can also lose attachment opening preferences in programs after an update, such as .pdf or .doc. Note that some PDF documents don't display correctly in the built-in preview and require the use of Adobe Reader.

when i do copy and paste from documents, mails or websites i always do it via right-click and paste without format (idk the correct english term, cause i am using the german edition).

Often the text is displayed without format (thats what i want!) but when i send my mail its written in the copied Format (e.g. Times New Roman). Its a little bit confusing that there is text format, when i insert it. The opponent is getting my mail in wrong format. How can i change it? Am i using the paste wrong?

Since yesterday my incoming email are not shown as they should, it looks like HTML code .... not an expert! I attach a screenshot of the email I received for the security code .... How can I change the layout back to the normal layout? Thx for your help!

I can't quickly find a way into my Thunderbird emails since they stopped putting an email icon on the opening pages. Why did they do that and how do I get into my email quick enough to verify my identity in everything else?

I've recent moved to Linux and Thunderbird from Win/Outlook. I have a singifcant message base that I've successfully migrated to Thunderbird, most in bound email but witha chunck of outbound too. This all appears in Local Folders, with the outbpund stuff in Sent Item sub-folders.

Card View suits my well, however when I look at the Sent Items local folders, I always see the from address (i.e. me) rather than to "to" address. This is pretty useless, however I can't see any way to influence if it shopuld the from or to address in Card View with local folders. Am I missing something?

Card View within a 'normal' email account shows either to or from as you'd expect, and therfore works fine.
