Emails are mistakingly being flagged as Junk...repeatedly

Only recently (over the last week or so) have I noticed that emails from one particular sender are consistently marked as Junk, with that orange symbol in the junk column. Even when I click on it to remove it, and/or click on "Not junk", the email becomes marked again as Junk within a few seconds/minute. I find this so strange. The sender is my mother, who has been emailing me for years! I just closed Thunderbird down after removing all the junk tags and have just re-opened it and all my emails from my mother since mid-May are all marked as junk.....this is ridiculous. How do I permanently remove the orange marker next to each email?

I am using Version 31.7.0

Just to add: the emails remain in the folder I created for my mother's mail-they aren't being moved to the Junk folder (Thunderbird is not moving them there)....and so I don't understand why they are arriving in my "mum's" folder and being marked by Tbird as junk.

Installed TB 31.5. Everything looked fine til I attempted to open an email. When I attempt to do so, no content/body of email displays. Have tried many different emails with same result: shows To, From, Subject, etc on top left. Where message body should be, it is all blank. Have tried changing 'view message body as' options (original html, simple html, plain text). Nothing works.

Lost address book

Here's what I did: - Copied the <Thunderbird/Profiles> folder - Uninstalled Thunderbird 60 - Installed Thunderbird 68 - Copied <Profiles> folder into new copy… (читать ещё)

Here's what I did: - Copied the <Thunderbird/Profiles> folder - Uninstalled Thunderbird 60 - Installed Thunderbird 68 - Copied <Profiles> folder into new copy of Thunderbird - There was no Address Book, completely blank.

How do I get my Address Book back?

I have an Aug copy of <Profiles> that might have the Address Book in it but it will not have all E-mails. What files, exactly, would I need to copy from the Aug Profile to the new copy of Thunderbird to get my Address Book back (if that is possible)?

Any and all help is appreciated. I REALLY do not want to reconstruct my Address Book, it have 700+ addresses...

[I've only noticed this new behavior in the last few days.] No matter which address book I select, Write now always opens with "All Address Books". ["All Address Books" displays a combined list of ALL the contacts in ALL the address books]. How do it get it to default to the 'last used' address book please?

I've said it before but TB updates are getting to be as problematic as Window updates.

Don't the idiot developers understand why this is not acceptable? I can barely use Thunderbird tonight.

TB may be free but I make voluntary contributions to Mozilla but not for this shit.

Continue like this and very few people will bother to write add-ons for TB and very few people will bother to install them either.

TB say that updates have improvements but it's one step forward and 11 steps back tonight for me.

Can a volunteer answer this please and pass it on to development?

There really needs to be a "revert to my previous version" button. This sucks; I'm going to have to do a lot of work to get it working again.

I cannot read the INBOX index because the font in the application windows is miniscule. A capital letter is 2mm high on my 17" screen. No human being can read lettering this small !!!

The addon list under Extensions does not indicate that any have been disabled. I think that I need "No Small Text" and "Theme Font & Size Changer" to become operational.

OR it might be that long ago I changed something in about:config but I'm not a programmer; I don't remember this stuff.

How do I revert to 52.1.1.1 (64 bit, I think) ???

Hi everybody, Thunderbird keeps freezing for ca. 30 sec. while writing emails or sending emails. It does so often, but not always. This problem started a couple of weeks after I had upgraded to Windows 10. At the beginning, i.e. for the first 2 weeks, using an older version of Thunderbird could fix the problem. This problem lasts since 4 months now and makes working with Thunderbird a real pain. It is clearly connected with Windows 10 and not related to my profile because, after having migrated my profile to a computer with Windows 7, freezing did not occur anymore, but it returned as soon as I migrated my profile back to the Windows 10 computer. Numerous users complain about this freezing problem which occurs in numerous variants. During the past months, I have tried countless suggestions to fix this problem, as they are available on the web. Nothing worked. Is Mozilla informed about this serious problem? If not, does anybody know how to inform them and make them aware of it? (I could not find any useful contact details online. When I once wrote a paper letter to Mozilla in the UK in which I pointed to another serious problem that bothered users for years, I have never received an answer or indication that this letter was acknowledged.)

Tbird has sent messages about not being able to update, probably more than 3 months. I tried to uninstall/reinstall twice months ago. A few days ago I tried to do a reinstall of the current program, twice. I'm still getting the requests. I have another problem that has become even more troublesome to me. For that last 6-7 days my in box fills with what started as a combination of the current days emails & not eliminated emails going back 5 years, all randomly together. I am running on TB release 60.5.0.

In the TB previous release, TF&SC worked fine for text (font) size control on incoming and outgoing messages. In the latest TB release TF&SC does not support the text (font) size.

The text size is miniscule. I can use the "ctrl +/-". However, this procedure is a drag when TF&SC has worked flawlessly in the previous TB release.

Is it not time for TB to have built-in text/font sizing control?

Your help on this issue would be appreciated.

Hi, I am using Thunderbird as my main email client. I created a subfolder and tried to delete it by right clicking and hitting delete and also by doing the following that I had read elsewhere....I responded below in capitals. Just a note....when I right click and hit delete or do it from above in the Edit, delete folder. The cursor just spins and at the top it says not responding....after 4 or 5 mins, it stops spinning and the not responding goes away. The folder is still there and if I do it again with or without rebooting Thunderbird and or computer, it still does the same thing, spins and spins the cursor and at top says not responding. I just bought a new computer and want to move my emails and folders to the new computer once I create the the Thunderbird email account on the new computer but I don't even want to attempt the transfer with this folder hanging around. I am assuming it is corrupt. Thanks for any help you can give me.


First follow this process.

   Right click on sub-folder and select 'Delete' 

It should get moved into the 'Deleted' or 'Trash' folder.

   Right click on the 'Deleted' / 'Trash' folder
   select 'Empty Deleted/Trash'. 
   Close and restart Thunderbird.                                           DID THIS BUT IT IS STILL THERE.

Did it come back?

If yes: Make hidden files and folders visible.

In Thunderbird

   Help > Troubleshooting Information
   click on 'show folder' button 

a new window opens showing the contents of your profile folder name.

   Close Thunderbird now - this is important. 
   Scroll down and delete this file: foldertree.json                                        DID ALL THIS

(a new one wil be created when you restart Thunderbird later).

   click on 'Mail' folder
   click on pop mail account name 

Sub-folders are kept in folders with a .sbd extension. Example: if the problem sub-folder is a subfolder of the Inbox; click on 'Inbox.sbd' folder

So you would need to apply the same logic to locate the problem sub-folder. The sub-folder you want to delete will not appear as a 'Folder', but it will have the same name as your sub-folder. It will be an mbox 'File' (which has no extension). There will also be an index file with a .msf extension.

   delete both the mbox file and the .msf file of same name.     I CAN FIND ALL MY SUB FOLDERS BUT THE ONE THAT I CAN'T DELETE IS NOT IN THE LIST

So if your Folder Pane structure was something like this: mail account name > Inbox > > Bills > > > > Gas

> Friends > > Bob > > Anne

example to locate 'Gas' In the profile mail account name click on 'Inbox.sbd' click on 'Bills.sbd' locate and delete : 'Gas' File - no extension 'Gas.msf' file

example to locate 'Anne' In the profile mail account name click on 'Friends.sbd' folder locate and delete : 'Anne' File - no extension 'Anne.msf' file

After deleteing the files as specified.

   Close window - top right X
   Start Thunderbird.

I was told that If I were to change my web mail password, thunderbird would simply ask me for the new password and I could access thunderbird.

I changed my web mail password. I tried to access thunderbird and I was asked for my password. I put in the new password which was the new password for web mail.

I got a message to the effect that the log in information was wrong or that some other problem precluded a connection.

Please get back to me at the email address listed in the question. I am such a techno phobe that I fear that I won't know how to return this site.

I need to be able to use thunderbird. My web mail (Time Warner Spectrum) is horrendous

My OS is Win 8.1. My TB is 24.4. It worked fine yesterday 03-18-2014, but today it just runs and runs, no errors, no retrieval of email. I don't know what to look for or how to correct this extreme problem and have had to work with another email program that is not nearly as good as TB.

I have not added (as far as I know) any other program. There have been no notices of invasions to my OS.

I am not familiar with Win 8.1 protocols.

Since a few weeks ago, Thunderbird freezes every now and then after sending emails. I tried restarting Thunderbird in Safe Mode with no success. I removed Thunderbird from my computer, moved my profile folder elsewhere, reinstalled Thunderbird from scratch (thus getting a fresh new profile folder) and I get the same problem.

Some people report that changing the signature file to html solves the problem, but I do not even have a signature file on my fresh new Thunderbird install.

I have 3 accounts (2 Google, 1 imaps). I use my own "Local Folder". That's all that is different from a fresh new install.

This is almost the case at all stations in the company. Employees sometimes report me missing emails from Sent or INBOX folders. Mails are not deleted or moved. After logging in to the WebMail (by Web browser) service, emails are visible in individual boxes. The problem is solved by removing the account from Thunderbird, deleting the IMAP Mail directory, setting and synchronizing everything from scratch. Such situations are happening more often.

Please, solve the problem

The number of spam emails with attachments containing macros seems to have increased exponentially over the year. It would be an obvious option to add a function that automatically puts these into junk. If you don't want the option, don't set it. The spam filters do a reasonable job at catching most spam but ALL spam with attachments containing macros are not caught by the spam filter. I have NEVER received a valid email with macros in the attachments. I do not want them and I don't understand why no one is doing anything about it.

95% of the spam i am receiving is evading the Thunderbird spam filter. What is being done about it?

Whenever I open Thunderbird for the first time each day, the web page: https://www.bitcoinfyi.com/early-tech-investor-says-bitcoin-will-be-bigger-than-the-internet?utm_source=facebook opens automatically in my browser (in this case Firefox). If I start Firefox before starting Thunderbird, the web page does not open. I have tested this scenario extensively, so it's not Firefox - it's definitely Thunderbird. In fact, I went a whole day just using Firefox and not starting Thunderbird without seeing the bitcoin page.

How do can I stop this from happening in Thunderbird? What tools are available that would alow me to troubleshoot it? I would very much appreciate your ideas.

So far, I did searches within Thunderbird (i.e. I searched my e-mail messages) for "bitcoinfyi," "bitcoin," etc., but nothing can back in the result. I also searched about:config without any result. I ran several scans using SpyBot S&D, Malwarebytes, Microsoft Security Essentials, and my antivirus software (360 Total Security). None of these scanners returned any malware or spyware related to the bitcoin issue.

It always displays the same page - an article from April 23rd, 2018. I submitted the URL to Virus Total (www.virustotal.com) for analysis and review - Virus Total reports the site as clean. I typed "early tech investor says bitcoin bigger than the internet" into a Google search and found links to the article associated with cnbc.com, twitter.com, coinnewstelegraph.com, truthinmeida.com, etc. in the result. These sites seem to be referencing the same article.

I don't understand why or how this article has infected my Thunderbird software. I appreciate any help you can give.
