Is it OK? Or did I a mistake?

A Pop-up entitled "Enter credentials for <my email> on imap.gmail.com" has appeared recently. This "page" headed "Google", says "Mozilla Thunderbird Email wants to access your google account. This will allow ...Thunderbird ... to Read, Compose, Send, and permanently delete all your email from Gmail". If I click the "Deny" button the same thing pops up and I cannot get to, not download any of my new emails.

It seems to me that if I "allow" this, it goes against all the privacy in Thunderbird settings and gives permission to take control of my account.

How do I get rid of this and get "back to normal" (this has only started in the las couple of weeks)?

I'm about ready to delete Thunderbird and try something else - this after 20-odd years of using Thunderbird with little or no problems.

I hope that not everyone receives 5 or more phishing emails a day like I do. The phishermen have learned that if they put a lengthy enough name in front of the email address that said address won't be seen unless the email is opened. The fishy looking email address is of course is the first tip off that the message is phishing. Some however manage to use a plausible tag in front of the @ and somehow use a legitimate xxxx.com after the @. I received two of that type this week from a phony Uber account. I've forwarded them to Uber.

The current Tbird release does not allow the user to add the "From" column to the list displays. That would be useful. Anything more that you could come up with would be be appreciated by many. BTW I am using the DKIM extension, and so far it seems to be helpful.

My wife and I are in our late 70s and both had careers in data processing. We are aware and careful. In another 10 years, who knows.

Recently I have started to see Thunderbird trying to insert passwords or Yubi key codes in the body of messages without my initiating that. I sent a message this morning and I deleted the codes, but T-Bird started re-inserting them.

Any idea what can cause this behaviour?

I mistakenly deleted my password from Thunderbird's Password Manager. I have my primary password to log into Thunderbird but don't have the password to sign into my account. I've been trying for days now with no luck. How do I set a password in password manager?

I'm happy to have been donating a little something each month for a while now. I forget where I set this up. However, the email address they are using to send me a thank you to, is out of date and I don't know where to change it.

E-mail stopped working. T-bird doesn't respond to "send e-mail" to address book. Something to do with an invalid information and encryption. T-Bird worked fine yesterday. This is a very recent development. Help. Thank you.

I have some questions about Thunderbird email. If an email is suspected as being 'junk' do I just delete the email and will future emails be blocked from that sender? I don't actually open the email.

Related to this, I usually 'unsubscribe' from marketing emails, but when I click on the 'unsubscribe' many ask for my email as "verification". Why? They HAVE my email to which they've just sent their junky marketing info. I don't usually respond. So how can I unsubscribe without sending my email address, which they already have. If I just see it is marked as 'junk', and I just delete without opening it, is this as good as "unsubscribing"? Is this request for my email necessary or a phishing scam?

Have configured Thunderbird server settings with the OAuth2 authentication. However, still unable to receive or send emails. Error message: "smtp.fontier.server does not recognize authentication method; change authentication method in settings." I believe I have made the suggested changes, but Thunderbird email still not working. I would like to visit via phone with a Thunderbird rep as the Support page has not given me any solutions. Please let me know if I can call and visit. Emailing me won't work.

Lately I have been getting junk mail which it reached almost 700 junk messages which some of them offensive to an old lady!!!! There has to be a program that can prevent this from happening!!!! And if so how can I get it o subscribe to it to have the messages scan and only allow those messages that are in my contact list. Thank you so much for your help or suggestions to help get rid of unwanted junk e- mails. Neoma
