I installed Thunderbird (T-bird), and on the "Set Up Your Existing Email Address" tab, I entered my Xfinity e-mail address/password and clicked on "Continue". T-Bird is able to find the proper configuration in the Mozilla ISP database. I clicked the IMAP radio button and then "Done". That opens a popup window with the heading "Enter credentials for <my-email-address> on imap.comcast.net, but the window never prompts for anything (a prompt for my Xfinity password is what I expected). Instead I just get a message headlined "Unable to connect", with the subtitle "The connection was refused when attempting to contact localhost". This is followed by three suggestions for why that might be the case. I verified that: 1. The Xfinity site is NOT "temporarily unavailable" - I can log into Xfinity directly and see my messages. 2. My computer's network connection is operational since I can load any website at will. 3. I do have Windows firewall enabled, and I suspect that is root of the problem. How can I permit T-Bird to access the web??? Thanks.

For the last 2.5 months, the quick filter function has been painfully slow, taking up to a few minutes to deliver all of the results. We were on v128, but read that this was a known issue, to be fixed in release 131(?). We just upgraded to 139.0.2 and the issue is still present. We have ~12K messages and we're running Win64 on a Surface Pro 10.

Should we downgrade? If so, which version?

The incoming server is managed by my Synology NAS server (MailPlus server), the identifiers are Incoming server : - protocol: imap - hostname: c-serp.fr - Port: 993 - Connection security: SSL - authentication method: normal password - username: contact@c-serp.fr - Pwd: -------------------

Outgoing server : - protocol: smtp - host name: smtp-relay.brevo.com - Port: 587 - Connection security: STARTSSL - authentication method: normal password - username: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX@smtp-brevo.com - Pwd: --------------------

All these settings work perfectly on outlook 2021. But on Thunderbird, nothing works.

Why is this? Any suggestions are welcome

Now trying 139.0.2 on a old laptop the subfolders are not mixed in the root anymore, but when opening TB, the subfolders are only partially listed. The listing changes every time.

TB then creates/downloads the missing ones/the subfolder structure but then leaves them all displayed as open/uncollapsed, which is a massive folder tree to navigate down. Takes ages and is a total pita.

We could even live with being able to collapse all the folders in one action, but there is no command for that.

I read elsewhere it may be a problem with OAuth so changed to app password, no difference.

Maybe it's the very large quantity of subfolders...

I note that the profile folder is the same size when TB is opened or closed....indicates that TB has the folders downloaded but needs to sync to display them?? No idea really.

But, we've been avoiding updating for a year and a half, need a solution or another client.

I just installed Thunderbird 139.0.2 on Mac OS Ventura 13.7.6 and set up my Exchange account. When I get the messages I do get a list of the messages.BUT when I click on a message, the message does not come up in the message pane. When I double click on a message a new empty pane opens. I can't see my messages. What am I doing wrong?

Thunderbird 138/139, Windows 11 Pro 23H2. While composing a message, after a few lines the app freezes. Both the compose window and the main TB window freeze. Only opening the Windows Task manager allows me to close them. This did not happen with earlier versions.

If I save the message every few seconds while composing I can get most of the message back and continue after restarting TB. This behavior is the same in both the normal and troubleshooting TB modes. I can't even find a crash log to send to Mozilla.

Where shall I look next?
