Freezes while composing message Thunderbird 138/139, Windows 11, in safe mode and troubleshoot mode

Thunderbird 138/139, Windows 11 Pro 23H2. While composing a message, after a few lines the app freezes. Both the compose window and the main TB window freeze. Only openin… (читать ещё)

Thunderbird 138/139, Windows 11 Pro 23H2. While composing a message, after a few lines the app freezes. Both the compose window and the main TB window freeze. Only opening the Windows Task manager allows me to close them. This did not happen with earlier versions.

If I save the message every few seconds while composing I can get most of the message back and continue after restarting TB. This behavior is the same in both the normal and troubleshooting TB modes. I can't even find a crash log to send to Mozilla.

Where shall I look next?

Hi! I'm trying to set Thunderbird as the operating system default under Win 11. I tried to follow Mozilla's instructions: 1. Open the Settings application by pressing and releasing the Windows Start button, then clicking the gear icon. 2. Click the Apps icon, then click Default Apps in the list. 3. Click the icon under the heading Email to show your choices. 4. Select Thunderbird. The trouble is that at n. 3 there is no choice. For a few days a banner persists on the lower left of the message window. It obscures content. ""Upgrade to Thunderbird Release"" I have checked twice to make sure there is no update available. Why does this annoying message persist after I run the update. I have rebooted the application multiple times. I do not want to click "Learn more" on the annoying banner promoting "Get monthly updates. with new features and improvements in the new Thunderbird Release" Is it malware? If the application is up to date why are you forcing me to "Learn more"? This is not a good user experience. My MacBook Air is up to date. Thunderbird release 128.11.1esr

Recently I have started to have emails fail to deliver to a certain domain and the message that comes back is

550 DKIM Sender Invalid - envelope rejected.

I am using Thunderbird v128.8.1 esr (64-bit). Extensions installed are: 1. Attachment Saver (Deimios, v.0.2.2) 2. FileLink provider for Send (Teal Dulcet v2.1.1) 3. Remove Duplicate Messages (Eyal Rozenberg v0.6.1)

I have been in communication with this client for several years and not had this problem before. When I send email to the same recipients using WebMail there is no problem, it is only when I send from Thunderbird.

I am not using any encryption type of setup.

Has anyone come across this before? Does anyone know of a solution?

The folder '[Gmail]/Sent Mail on me@mydomain.com' could not be compacted because writing to folder failed. Verify that you have enough disk space, and that you have write privileges to the file system, then try again.

I have a ton of space and have not changed anything on the PC?

Any ideas?

Recent new system. Previously used Office Outlook and backed everything up to a PST file. Found I couldn't import into Thunderbird, needed to install Outlook first and import it there. Did that. So I have an Office 365 Subscription active and have Outlook active. Now I'm trying to get those messages to Thunderbird, but when I go to Import and select Import From Outlook I get a red error "No profile found" and can't continue. Is there something I need to do regarding Outlook for Thunderbird to recognize it?

Owing to a price rise in MS Office, I had been looking to move to free software. Unfortunately for email this isn't working. I have downloaded Thunderbird and have tried to transfer my Outlook data there. I started two weeks ago and on average believe the process has been running a few hours a day, for much of the time when I look occupying 0% of CPU capacity, and most of the time not rising above 1%. The import has been stuck at 33% for that time, which I assume means that it imported Accounts and Settings or Address Books quickly and is taking a very long time to import Mail Messages. (It imported the couple of month's worth on webmail quite quickly.) Likely this is owing to the size of the Outlook file, 5 GB. Does this essentially make the transfer impossible? For how large a file could Thunderbird do a successful import?

I have set my account to "Don't delete any messages", because I frequently want to reread a deleted message in my Trash folder. However, when I go into my Trash folder to search for a deleted message, I am finding that messages older than a certain date have disappeared, although I've done nothing to permanently delete them. For example, today everything older than May 3 is gone. What can I do to prevent this?

Issue 1: When using Shift+F5 to Get All New Messages: This command used to go through my accounts within several seconds; but now this can take several minutes. What changed to cause this?

Issue 2: I have one account that is having server problems... causing must click popups in TB. How do I exclude this account when using Shift+F5? I've tried Unchecking the boxes for "Check for new messages at startup" and "Check for new messages every xx minutes". And one help result suggests "Disable immediate notifications: Uncheck"; but I do not see such a setting.

We’re having a weird issue with Thunderbird that’s showing up on multiple computers using the same mailbox. When we search using the top search bar (Ctrl+K), it often doesn't find all emails that clearly match the search term For example, we have multiple sent emails with the searched phrase in the subject, but Ctrl+K only finds one of them, even though there are two (or more) that match. When we use Ctrl+Shift+F (advanced search) with the exact same keyword and folder, all the matching emails show up just fine.

So it's not like the emails are missing —they're just not being picked up by the Ctrl+K search.

The annoying part is that Ctrl+K lets us open the whole conversation thread, which is really useful, while Ctrl+Shift+F only shows single messages.

Ive tried to:

- repair folders

- delete .msf files

- rebuild global database

- reenable "Include messages in this folder in Global Search results" but it did not help

And this isn’t just one machine, it's happening on every PC where this mailbox is used

I have had an ongoing problem with Thunderbird being unable to log into the various mail servers that I use. I've tried repeatedly to solve this problem and have been able to cure it in the past by clearing the cache, but it recurs over and over again. I cannot keep wasting my time like this. I'm an independent contractor and I need to be able to use my e-mail client consistently. I've got work to do! This morning, it's suddenly decided that it cannot log into any of the three services that I use.

Is there a lasting solution to this problem? If not, please tell me and I'll move on peacefully, but please don't keep me chasing my tail for something that cannot be fixed.

I recently deleted a gmail account from my TB. It was a shared account so that account is still open but I have no more need of accessing it. So I went into my TB\Account Actions\Remove Account. It no longer exists on my main TB page which shows my different email accounts. Suddenly, and constantly, I have this window pop up, requesting my login info, which I no longer have. When I close the window, it just opens back up. I have to close it in order to get to my main TB window. It's horribly frustrating. Any ideas??

In the last two weeks I have been collecting reminders that can't be dismissed and today I got a new one that is for next Sunday.

They are all birthday reminders, some from contacts, and some from entries straight into the calendar in Thunderbird. All of them are in the calendar in Google tied to my email address and when I check their details, it says they are created by an "Unknown Organizer."

I've tried to delete them in Thunderbird and in Google Contacts via the web -- they won't go away.

Thoughts? I've been using this for years and this is a new problem.

I am on Windows 10, everything is updated to the latest including Thunderbird.

I have 4 email accounts setup in Thunderbird. When I turn my laptop on and open the program all the email accounts automatically expand(open to show their folders). I then have scroll up thru all the accounts and folders to get back to the top account. If I don't shut down or reboot they will stay closed or go back to what state they were in when last closed. If I reboot or turn on pc again they all expand.

I shut down and boot many times a day when moving around the office or on calls. So it kinda annoys me and slows me down. I cant seem to find a setting that fixes this if it is even possible. I want them to stay closed till I open them.

After updating Thunderbird to version 139.0.2 Thunderbird can't connect to my E-Mail provider! Getting error massage saying “user name or password are wrong!” It happening on my PC with windows10 Pro and the same on my laptop with windows 11 Pro. On my browser or my mobile, I can connect without any problem to my e-mail provider. After consulting my provider, his suggestion was to try installing my account again. I did but it didn’t work (same error) I tried installing older version which Thunderbird was functioning on. It didn’t work either. Even that I cleaned my PC from Thunderbird totally. To clear this point on Versions 139.0 and 139.0.1 Thunderbird function as always before. Up to now any Thunderbird update took automatically the existing setting without any problem.
