Thunderbird 102.3.2 Solved 7 replies 4 people have this problem I can't get it in date desc order, it says it is in view/sort by, but its not, scrolling around I can see email's newer below email's older, its in no particular order as far as I can see. I've tried folder repair, and for a moment it all looks great and I can see today's email at the top, then it all goes back to how it was. I've tried messing with the view settings, and actually most of the settings without any effect. How can I get it back to how it was before the upgrade? Ordered by email's received decending?

Hi, I run copies of Thunderbird on two Windows machines in my study. Both versions are up to date - see the attached screen shots. In the version running on my desktop (20240114 Win7-Pro TBird 115.6.1 (32-bit).png) the emails appear with columns. This is the format I am used to and which I like. In the version running on my laptop (20240114 Win7-Pro TBird 115.6.1 (64-bit).png) the emails appear in a different format, which takes up a lot more screen space and doesn't let me sort them by columns. I think I made the change myself, but I cannot remember how I did it. I have looked long and hard but unsuccessfully for a way to revert to the column layout. How do I revert to the column layout? i want to disable my spamblocker/ junk mail detector in firefox ..... it keeps sending legit emails to the spam file no matter how i adjust the junkmail settings....is there a way to just turn the spam/junk detector off altogether?

i already have spam detector through my cPanel at my webhost and another junkmail detector in antivirus/malware program on my desktop

i don't need firefox diverting legit emails that get through the earlier detectors.

I moved Thunderbird to a new PC recently. Thunderbird runs fine. I want to backup the profile folder. Windows file explorer does not see the profile ; yes I have set hidden files to view. The only profile it sees is the one I copied over from old PC that has not been modified (see image). In Thunderbird, I go to troubleshoot information, Profile folder, open folder, I get Location is not available error (see image). I go to about:profiles, open folder (any, see image), get same error. Profile manager does not see the old profile from old PC. How do I make Windows and Thunderbird see and open the profile folder Thunderbird is using successfully? Thank you

export / import fails

i have an old win10 machine with a huge thunderbird profile - 37.9GB size / 75.2GB disk. i'd like to move it with Tools Export / Import to a new win11 machine.

on win10 i click thru tools > export > open profile folder

and in ...\thunderbird\profiles i select yhcc00j7.dan and export it to an external ssd.

it runs for hours and then a number of these appear: "Are you sure you want to copy with file without its properties? The file %2B...." has properties that can't be copied to the new location.... Type WDSEML file size 1.02KB....".

so i check "Do this for all current items" and hours later it finishes.

on win11 i click thru tools > import > import from another thunderbird profile > choose a profile and select the folder yhcc00j7.dan on the ssd and import everything > start

for a minute or so it says "importing .... 0%" but no new profile shows up in ...appdata\roaming\thunderbird\profiles\ and then "import failed unexpectedly" is displayed.

i've tried this twice. both machines have version 115.11.1 "esr update channel". what am i doing wrong?

ich benötige Hilfe das Googlefenster weg zu bekommen. Ich möchte mich nicht über Google anmelden, wenn ich es auch über Mozilla kann. Die Anmeldedaten von Mozilla funktionieren nicht.

Bitte sagen Sie mir, wie ich das Problem lösen kann.

In dem Fenster habe ich keine Möglichkeiten die Links an zu klicken, da dann das Fenster weiß wird. Ich kann es nur wegklicken, es kommt aber innerhalb von 5 Minuten wieder. Oder ich melde mich mit google an, was ich aber nicht möchte.

Danke für Ihre Hilfe.

Yesterday, midday, my sent file stopped storing new messages after years of flawless service

I have tried: - closing TB and shutting down laptop and restarting

                      Under  Account Settings> Copies and Folders: unclicking "place a copy in" doing a test and then reclicking "place a copy in"  (directed to sent folder)

FWIW: 1.only thing I have done differently lately is create a Template

           2. Sent folder works fine on my on-line email ( I normally work with storing locally on my MacBook Air) but on-line email is not TB so likely irrelevant

When I got a new computer, my account was automatically set up as IMAP but I could not send emails, though I can receive on the IMAP version. I went into manual configuration and copied all the configuration information from my (working) old computer to it, using its POP3/SMTP settings, but when I Retest I get an error: 'Thunderbird failed to find the settings for your email account' I've double-checked everything and am at a standstill. I really need help!

Using T-bird Beta 127.0b5 (64-bit) Longtime T-bird user, regular and Beta. Folders not showing in Folder Tree in 1 of 2 accounts on same outlook server. No problems with GMAIL or ISP email Spectrum). I've tried all the fixes in similar previous question but none worked. I am, and must remain in, Troubleshooting Mode to be functional. Thoughts solicited and appreciated.

Every-time I open up Thunderbird e-mail Version 115.11.1 (64-bit) to access my Outlook E-mail Account, it pops open a box wanting me to enter my password! :-( I can enter it and mark that box to use "Password Manager", but it doesn't matter if I check that box or not, because every-time I reopen Thunderbird it asks me for that password again! :-( This problem just started in the last few weeks...... Once I enter my password, I can receive and send e-mails just fine, but when I close Thunderbird and reopen it, that popup box reappears again, where I must enter my password. (see picture I attached) If I just X out of it, I can't access my e-mail at all, as that box asking for a password, pops back open again asking me for my password AGAIN! Which by the way is 100% correct, as I can access my e-mail through Firefox, Google Chrome or Edge Browser just fine. I have used Thunderbird for years and have NEVER encountered this problem before, I hope you have a fix! I am running Windows 10 Pro Version 22H2. Thanks in advance! Keith

In my list of Inbox Unified Folders (13 of them), one folder in particular (the second one) is sometimes there, then at some point later is gone. It's still in the 'All Folders' list, but not in the Unified folders list. If I kill TB and restart, then it's back. I have no idea what ops might cause it to vanish. Any idea what's causing it to vanish or what I can look at?

Hi, I'm using Firefox 115.11.0esr (64-bit) on a Mac Mini M2 Pro running Sonoma 14.5. When I forward an email message with Firefox, multiple lines of HTLM text are prepended to the forwarded message. I've attached a screenshoot showing the first 2 lines of this prepended text.

How can I configure Firefox so that his HTML text is not included in forwarded messages?

I have been using Firefox on Mac for a number of years. This behavior started when I upgraded to the Mac Mini M2 Pro and this version of Firefox.

msg filter not working on certain messages

I'm using Thunderbird 45.7.1 under Win 7.

I want to tag some junk mail using "Body Contains" + a word cut & pasted from the message. The message looks the same displayed as Plain Text or Original HTML.

The filter is not working on these messages but does work on a copy I forwarded to myself. So, I checked the message source which says "Content-Type: text/plain; charset="ibm852"; Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit". The forwarded copy is "Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8; format=flowed; Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit".

I'm guessing the problem is the filter is not working on the ibm852 charset. Am I on the right track? How do I fix it?

I go to view> but can't get any further. What am I doing wrong, and why is TB so insistent on making a very simple 50/50 user decision so difficult to change?

Hi Windows 10 64bits - Thunderbird 115.11.1 (but same happens with Linux Mint 21.3 Cinnamon). It is the 1st time I ask in this forum, so I hope I respect the rules... "Sometimes", in my e-mail "imapmail" sub-folders, "some" files with an added "-1" appear ("draft-1", "sent-1" , ...). They are always newer (modification date) than the file without the "-1". What are they ? Why create a "-1" that consumes space, and not over-write the existing files ? Is there a parameter somewhere in TB to avoid this behaviour (I closed TB, deleted them, but they "sometimes" reappear when I reopen TB ) ? Thanks in advance

Is there a way to schedule a time (daily or weekly) during which Thunderbird doesn't check for new mail?

I have several mail accounts, some for work, some private. I want Thunderbird checking for new mail on my work accounts during my work hours, and pause checking when I get off work. I don't want Thunderbird to check my private mail while I'm at work (or specifically, up until an hour before the end of my workday).

Eg. I'd like to "tell" Thunderbird to check my work account monday to friday from 8am to 5pm, and my private account every workday from 4pm to 8am and every weekend all day. Ideally, clicking on "get new mail" would only fetch mail for the currently unpaused accounts.

I don't want to have to manually pause checking for messages for each account several times a day.

The "check for new messages every ___ minutes" doesn't help.

Disabling notifications isn't a solution - I need the messages (especially work messages) not to be downloaded from the server (or receive notification that there's mail waiting). I'm looking to "disconnect" from work while keeping up to speed with my private communications.

I was in the middle of generating a long "reply all" to a message and wanted to jump to a new page when it would be printed. I absent-mindedly hit Ctl-Shift-Enter and the entire window disappeared and there was nothing in Drafts! Ctl-V just restores the last thing I added to this very long reply! I had been working on this for 90 minutes, doesn't Thunderbird continually update Drafts while working on a long email?

Hi everyone,

I'm having trouble with my Thunderbird app (version 115.11.1) on macOS. I'm trying to add my Google accounts, but after I attempt to connect them, I receive the following warning message: "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password."

I've checked the configuration multiple times to ensure it's correct. Here are the settings I'm using for Gmail:

Incoming Server (IMAP): Server Name: imap.gmail.com Port: 993 Connection Security: SSL/TLS Authentication Method: OAuth2 Username: [my email address]

Outgoing Server (SMTP): Server Name: smtp.gmail.com Port: 465 Connection Security: SSL/TLS Authentication Method: OAuth2 Username: [my email address]

I've also emptied all saved passwords and allowed cookies from sites without any exceptions. Is the version of Thunderbird I have still incompatible with Gmail? Or is there another issue that I might be missing?

There is one correspondent whose emails come in, flash on the screen for a second and then disappear. I find it in Junk. I've got the email addres whitelisted on my provider's filters. How can I intercept this process. It's only the one address. So far. Can I whitelist address on TB? I've got it set to not intercept anyone in my address book and this address is definitely inmy address book.
