Hello,

We are using Thunderbird since version 45, and we updated it last month to version 68. Now we are updating some installations to the version 78 and 78.0.1 but we can't manage to get an IMAP account working.

-- Problem-- Before version 78 you are prompted an exception to accept the incoming and outgoing server, but we don't get the window at version 78. This means we cannot send or receive email with version 78.

I tested this with both Windows and Mac

--Possible workaround -- When we update an installation of version 68 to 78 that was already configured on version 68, version 78 works fine.

In the attachment are 2 pictures of the exception and what happens on version 78.

Je viens d'installer la nouvelle version 2004 de Windows 10 et depuis, je ne peux plus recevoir les mails sur Thunderbird. J'ai d'abord pensé que cela venait du programme. Je l'ai donc désinstallé et réinstallé mais sans succès. Par contre, je peux envoyer des mails.

Pourriez-vous m'aider SVP ?

Can not download emails from mail server with 78.0.1, but can with 68.11.0

My email client has silently stopped downloading emails (after 19th July). This was around the time I upgraded to v.78.0.1 I have 5 email accounts, all with a POP3 setup. Sending emails works. Retrieving emails silently fails.

Testing (IMAP) on Windows 10:

  • Thunderbird 78.0.1:
  Manual configuration 
  Error message said the user name or password was wrong.
  • Thunderbird 68.11.0:
The manual configuration worked fine, and was able to receive emails.

As my machine upgraded, I can not revert to an older version, and I do not wish to lose many years of emails.

How can I either: 1. Restore the old version. 2. Fix the email downloads.

Thunderbird being overwhelmed by many dozens of identical emails.

Starting yesterday my email started receiving identical emails from WebMD that download 1 message at a time with no other email traffic. I normally get 30-40 emails daily (can't stop or change the political emails to junk) so to only get 1 every time I ask Thunderbird to download my mail, it gives me just the one from WebMD. Their reply address is "reply-fe8a16747261077a7c-58_HTML-32885111-7000612-104@messages.webmd.com". I have left a reply with them to ask them to check from their end on what is happening. In the meantime, I am not receiving any other email because as I click on Download Email, it says that it is loading "1 of 118" messages and the numbers never change and all I get is the same message from WebMD. Any thoughts on who/what is doing this and how to fix it ?

I have a bunch of users who use an application and when that application does an update it automatically sends an email on behalf of whoever is doing the task...

My issue is when someone says no and un-checks to make it so the message never pops up again , it stops it for working on that user.

At first I tried to add mapi.blind-send.warn to true and it does not pop up... If I totally uninstall thunderbird and delete the profiles in %APPDATA% I still end up with the same issue... my only solution thus far is I have to create a new windows user to get it to totally reset to make it work.

I am wondering how to reset thunderbird so I don't have to do this...

Thunderbird sure looks very nice! However, of my two gmail accounts Thunderbird is connecting to the server and then retrieves nothing! Please help! Tried POP and IMAP for both. This worked fine up until I upgraded to 78 (from 68). I can send myself an email from another non google address, see it there as unread in the webmail interface but TB no longer pulls down read or unread messages.

so just about every 4th time I open thunderbird, it does not actually open. I get a popup that says the profile cannot be found, or something like that, and I have to re install the program. and not the latest version either, it only works if I re install version 60.5.1. I have tried installing a newer version, but the same thing happens, and it won't open. this only happens on my windows 7 laptop, my windows 7 desktop computer has no issues, and is running the newest version of thunderbird. any help would be wonderful, I am ready to look for a new email client for the laptop.

I have several message filters created and most are working fine. However, there are few that refuse to work they are all created similar and simple. For example I created a folder for each filter. I selected match all the following. I chose FROM CONTAINS then the I enter the name shown on the from line and last I select move message to the folder I created. I have several message filters created for different folders and most work fine but there are few that are being very stubborn. I'm becoming very annoyed I can't understand since all my filters are created the same why a few will not work. Running firefox 68.1

I love tThunderbird, but, I get so many "confirm security exemption" messages it is becoming very hard to use. The help desk at the university where I work just says "we do not support that mail system, use the one we like". I would rather not.

SITUATION: Last night my old 32-bit processor was replaced with a 64-bit processor, a 250 Gbyte SSD was installed, and a new Windows 10 operating system was installed. My old drive C became drive D. After the nice computer tech left at 9 pm, I downloaded and installed application software that I need for my work, including Thunderbird. This morning I connected Thunderbird to my gmail account and local ISP email account (to check for urgent messages). I have reviewed the procedures for transferring Thunderbird data (Profiles, Roaming, etc.) and have saved my current data in a temporary location for safety. My old Thunderbird data included archived messages going back about 20 years as well as address books containing important contacts on six continents.

PROBLEM: I cannot find my old Thunderbird data on the old drive C/new drive D. I have searched the drive for folder names including Thunderbird or Profiles (50+ such folders) or Roaming without success.

QUESTION: How might I find the old Thunderbird data (with important messages to me before 7 pm yesterday evening)?

Some stupid program has installed the version 78.0.1 (32-bit) of Thunderbird on my computer. My fault, I know. That happened on the 20th of July. Today e-mails I've received are not displaying when I click on them. I can see the contents however by, say, replying to them. Any idea what is happening here? Is there something I can do - like back-peddling to the current "normal" version i.e. 68.6.0 or am I stuck until a 78.something "official" version is available? Thanks!

Hi, first of all I apologize for my english. In the last period I have this problem with thunderbird: unlike in the past if I save a certified e-mail locally and I open it I do not see the digital signature and the file is declared unsigned. If instead I open the same pec directly from the browser of thunderbird, the digital signature result correctly affixed. I thank anyone who can help me.

TB defaults to wrong account when sending forwarded emails

I have my google and work email accounts setup on TB (google via IMAP and work via IMAP on office 365). When I reply to an email that comes into my gmail account the from… (читать ещё)

I have my google and work email accounts setup on TB (google via IMAP and work via IMAP on office 365).

When I reply to an email that comes into my gmail account the from address is gmail, if i reply to an email that comes into my work account, the from address is my work one.

If I FORWARD an email from gmail to my work address and then (from my work account) try to forward (or reply) the from address defaults to my gmail, NOT my work addy! This happens if I forward the email from gmail to work within TB or via another device and then use TB to forward/send that email onwards.

My work account is set as default for sending emails, and replying/forwarding emails that are sent by other people default to the correct from address!

Using : 68.10.0 (64-bit) on Linux Mint (installed via .tar download)

Добрый день слетела учетная запись thunderbird заново её внесли в программу а письма из архивов не восстановились а там очень важная информация помогите как мне их восстановить ? И как мне изменить в настройках локальное хранилище этих писем на другой диск и после изменения локального хранилища могу ли я удалить папку thunderbird из папки rouming дабы освободить место на диске C
