how do i login to my account via webmail and check the settings on the server, as well as the spam folder on the server, because some of the emails sent by some senders are not reaching me

I am asking this as this was suggested in one of the online discussions, but I cannot find my webmail nor the junk settings / spam folder on the server, other than what I see in my regular email box and settings.

Is it possible to preview a link in a received email? For example, I amazingly get a $1000 Walmart gift card email and I just have to Click Here. Is there a way to preview the Click Here link before clicking so I can determine if it goes to walmart.com or phishingscam.com?

I am NOT a computer whiz, simply a user with minimal skills.

Can get to Tools, Account Settings, Privacy, but no "options"

Is it possible to read in Thunderbird email messages encrypted with "Office 365 Message Encryption" ?

When such email is received, it says that:

"XXX has sent you a protected message. " Then there is a blue "Read the message" which takes me to Office 365 OWA and from there I can read the email. But I was wondering if it's possible to read it directly from Thunderbird?

I'm using Thunderbird 91.5.0 (32-bit) with IMAP connection to outlook.office365.com

I've been using Thunderbird for years. I have recently added mails to my mobile phone, but want to continue receiving my mails on my laptop, as that is where I will send out from. Lat few days I have not been able to send mails, and can now not even access my mails, and get a message mentioning imap login failed. I do not know what that means, nor am computer savvy. Is there an easy way to fix this, or if not, do I lose all my mails if I decide to stop using this mailbox in future

I will not be able to access answers you send on this mail, which makes the problem even more irritating

I get this message when I try to download my Gmail e-mails into Thunderbird: "Sending of password for user myemail@gmail.com did not succeed. Mail server pop.gmail.com responded: Username and password not accepted." I've reset my password, and I know I have the correct one. I can access my e-mail on Gmail website; however, it's very unwieldy. Any suggestions?

Turned on 2 factor verify in Gmail, turned it off, now Thunderbird will not load that account and keeps asking for password ???

I logged into gmail through browser, turned OFF 2 factor verification. (triple checked its off from different browsers)

Everytime I logged into thunderbird it would pop a browser to ask for gmail credentials, I'd enter, it would ask for permission, I'd approve and then its says authentication failed and keeps popping new window open every few minutes.

I went to security preferences, deleted passwords for that account. restarted thunderbird, same issue.

I removed the account, restarted thunderbird. Went to add account. and same pop up and then it THUNDERBIRD BOX it says alert Configuration can not be verified - is the password or username wrong?

I triple checked the password from multiple devices and browsers and it works fine. None of my other devices, browsers logins are having any issue.

It all started when I turned on 2 factor. I turned it off immediately, but stock here now...

PLEASE HELP, I've been using Thunderbird over 10 years and I'm at a loss...

Using Thunderbird 68.2.0, I am unable to send email with "OAuth2" selected but it works with "Normal password". I'm using POP and SMTP. Gmail has less secure access enabled.

When I select OAuth2 and send an email, I get the popup google sign-in window. I enter my email address and password and click Allow. The window closes and Thunderbird shows the error:

"Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.gmail.com was lost in the middle of the transaction. Try again."

gmail authentication error

My 6 gmail accounts work fine on gmail.com. Until yesterday, all 6 accounts worked fine in Thunderbird as well. However, now a Google window has started to continually ask me to log in to just one of those accounts. After I enter credentials for that account, another window asks for permission to give Thunderbird access to the account. I click allow.

Then a little window in the lower right of the screen says "Authentication failure while connecting to server imap.gmail.com". The Thunderbird logo and name appear in that window.

After that window goes away, the Google window asking for login credentials appears again.

All 6 accounts have the same settings. For both incoming and outgoing servers, connection security is SSL/TLS and authentication method is OAuth2.

In gmail security settings, Thunderbird has access to this gmail account.

I can't figure out what is different about the gmail account that has this problem. I have seen online that hundreds of people have similar problems but have not found clear information about what the problem is and how to solve it. I posted my question to the Google forum but have not received a reply.

I am baffled and hope someone can help.

I have used thunderbird for my work gmail account for years. I had to change my gmail password this morning and now cannot connect with thunderbird. I go through the authentification steps (user id, password, allow access) and then get authentification error while connecting to server imap.gmail.com. i have checked all of the settings and they are the same as they were before I changed my email, but I cannot send or receive emails via thunderbird anymore.

Is there a way to edit/alter the scam settings in Thunderbird? I know you can either enable or disable the filter but there is no way (that I could see) to add a sender into a safe list so it doesn't get flagged each time it comes in. Something along the lines of how allow remote content from a certain sender works.

I've been using Thunderbird for may years as my default email platform on my desktop PC (currently running Windows 10) for my email accounts as I enjoy its functionality. In June of 2019 iCloud.com email accounts required an "App-Specific Password" in order for Thunderbird to be allowed access. In June of 2019 I generated an App Specific password in iCloud.com and everything worked well. If I ever closed down Thunderbird the next time that I opened the program I was requested to enter the password. I entered my App Specific password and everything worked fine.

Recently (Nov 2019) Thunderbird has not been recognizing my App Specific password and I have been forced to create a new one at iCloud.com. This would occur whether or not I exited the Thunderbird program. This has progressed from a daily recurrence, to a multiple times a day recurrence, to an hourly recurrence, to the point where it is occurring every few minutes, and even to the point where a new App Specific password is being required to view a different folder in Thunderbird.

This is very frustrating. I'm just curious if anyone else is having this same issue? ...and what I can do to have this issue rectified?

Thunderbird 64 bit (68.3.1) intermittently fails when getting (POP) messages and my ISP locks me out for 10 minutes. I have found two mailboxes in the Saved Logins under Security | Passwords |Saved Passwords. Both are the same [mailbox//pophm.sympatico.ca (mailbox//pophm.sympatico.ca)] but one has the wrong username and wrong password. I have tried removing it but it comes back with a re-start of Thunderbird. I have I have gone through the account settings and mail setup without being able to find where it is located so I can delete it. Please help.

Hello, I just got a signature Smartcard from TeleSec (German qualified signature provider accredited for eIDAS). On this PKS Smartcard, there is a specific email signature certificate (advanced certificate). This card (TCOS 3.0 based) uses exclusively elliptic curves cryptography (ECC), and does not support RSA.

I know that the qualified signature based on a brainpool curve specifically parametrized by the German BSI is not recognized by any international software. But the advanced signature is a NIST parametrized curve and works for example in Adobe Acrobat.

Since I was not able to make my smartcard to work with Thunderbird, I would like to know precisely the list of the supported kind of email signature and encryption certificates and algorithms.

Further, the root certificate TeleSec GlobalRoot 2 certificate is present and trusted in Mozilla Thunderbird. Under this root certificate, I have to add another certificate in the chain to verify the smartcard advanced signature (something like TeleSec PKS CA 8). This certificate seems to support and work with ECC perfectly in the Windows 10 64but certificate store, but gets the mention "verification failed fir an unknown raison" in Thunderbird 64bit. My guess is that Mozilla Thunderbird 64bit in its latest release version dies not support the ECC algorithms used by TeleSec. Could somebody confirm my guess?

I precise that I was able to sign my emails previously with another smartcard, from D-TRUST, which was using RSA.

I didn't realize there was no official technical support for Thunderbird. Thank you for anyone who takes time to respond. Someone hacked into a personal email and used Thunderbird to synch and possibly download to their computer. I would like to see if POP vs IMAP was used. If I changed my email password to original account (earthlink) and they only used IMAP, would that mean they no longer have access to the old messages that they had previously synched and viewed through Thunderbird? Or would that only prevent them from viewing new emails - post change of earthlink passcode?
