When windows applications create a new message through thunderbird (quickbooks wants to send an invoice for example) the new message appears in the background and bothers the user who prefered the way outlook would pop up newly created messages in the foreground. The foreground popup is the preferred work flow as the operator clicks 'send invoice' and then the message pops up for review and for the operator to hit send. Now migrating to Thunderbird, in frustration the user is creating many drafts but not always sending the invoice.

How can I set Thunderbird to popup a new message window in the foreground in this case?

I have 2 separate email accounts - one for me and one for my wife. However in settings there is only one Outgoing Servers box and it asks for one to be default. That means the other account doesn't send emails. Is there a way of setting different outgoing servers for the two different accounts automatically?

Recently installed TB 60.3.1 (32-bit)

In prior releases, when I began typing an email address in the search bar (ctrl+k) it would show a suggestion list of matching emails. With this new release, no suggestions are ever shown in the search bar.

Can this be re-enabled via a setting?

Hi, I receive a lot of junk mails in my mailbox. 1% of what I get is really important and this 1% is often replies to e-mails I sent before. How to tag replies to my messages or filter them to drive them into a "replies only" folder ? Because creating a new filter rule each time I send a mail to a different e-mail adress takes time...

I've just switched over the Thunderbird after 20 years of using Eudora Pro email.. The most used feature of that program was the easy access "stationary" area. (See attached)... I operate a business via email and get the same repeated questions almost on a daily basis.. Rather than type in the answers to common questions.. I have over 100 pre-answered (some call them "canned" answers) that I can click on, copy, and paste as the answer.. This saves me literally dozens of hours a week..

Any suggestions?

In general, I like Thunderbird, have used it for years. But if there's one thing that will make me abandon it it's that incoming links are not hyperlinks, they're just text. From what I've read, that's deliberate. If not, how do I make incoming links be links? I'm really ready to move on.

When I'm composing an e-mail, Thunderbird pops up suggested words as I type. They not only slow down my typing, but often cover what I'm trying to type, so that I have to type without being able to see what's being typed. It's extremely annoying.

It's hard for me to believe that there's not a way to disable this behavior, but I haven't been able to find anything in the support area or on google to tell me how.

Does anyone know how to turn this behavior off?

I do not want mail to go out automatically when I push send. I see now that if I go into the menu on a particular msg, I can choose send later and it goes to my outbox. How do I set that globally?

I recently updated Thunderbird and the tags I was using had to be set up again. In the past there was always the option to add a number to each tag so that I could control the order of the tags and that option has disappeared. The order of the tags is now alphabetized. Is it possible to get the ability to control the order of tags without having to rename each tag so they fall into the order I want?

I have just installed Thunderbird to enable me to get sound notification. But just how can I make this happen I am an 78 year old novice please help.

Currently when I tag a message the font color of the message changes. It would be nice if I could change the background color for tagged messages too, to make them stand out more.

I have 14 email accounts .. which I would like to group by Work, Personal, Project etc. Postbox has got the account groups and so does mail bird. IS there a way there is a solution for Thunderbird?

As per the header, Thunderbird updated itself to version 52.1.1 and I then tried to create a new message filter, but no matter what I do, It says I have no folders to move messages to...

I tried restarting with add-ons disabled?

By default, Thunderbird popup window displays only a list of 5 messages. I have a lot of filters, that sorts new incoming mail to different folders. Its more suitable for me to check for new letter contents by clicking hyperlinks of the messages at the popup window, and not going to every subfolder to find my message, but there are only 5 listed per popup window. I would like to increase a list to 15-20 items at window, because its much faster to check for new mail for me this way, but I have not found the option value at advanced options. Is it possible?

Some received emails need to be answered inline. They could be HTML or text. The received email is almost always black text, so I want my reply to be in red, blue, maybe green, while the received text is in its original color. I've tried various setting changes in Tools/Options/Composition & Display. I also have my View/Text Encoding set to Unicode. thanks, Ron

I am setting up Thunderbird for the first time. I would like to have the message previewed in the column area, not only in the preview pane. Is there a way to do this?

Just loaded Thunderbird on a new laptop. It displays a list of messages with no headings, each message listing in two lines and acres of wasted space in the middle. See Image 1 (6300040).

How do I get back to a list of one-line entries with headings at the top of each of the columns (which lets me change the sorting direction)? It works so much better for me. See Image 2 (6300039).

Long-term fan

I've recently moved from Apple Mail to Thunderbird. I had Apple Mail configured to "permanently erase deleted messages when one month old" (under Accounts | Mailbox Behaviors). That lets me get back a recently-deleted message if I find I want it after all, but stops the trash box getting too big. I'd like Thunderbird to do the same, rather than waiting until the trash box is a certain size and then erasing everything.
