I have been using Thunderbird for many years. I have 4 accounts that have all been set up and working fine. This morning the 2 yahoo.com accounts stopped working. I logged in to the impacted accounts using a web browser and password just fine. I then updated Thunderbird to 116.0 to see if that would fix the problem, but it did not. The outlook and gmail accounts are working fine, for now.
When Thunderbird attempts to download mail for the yahoo accounts, I get a large pop-up window with "Edge: Too Many Requests". The pop-up window is blank except for that error message. I get the small pop-up with the Authentication Failure message. Sometimes I get Retry, Enter Password or Cancel. But I never see a window that will allow me to enter my password.
I can send/receive mail from the accounts while logged in via a browser but authentication fails within Thunderbird.

Until yesterday, I had no issues accessing my Yahoo account. However, all of a sudden, the Yahoo login popup has started appearing.
After entering the password, I get the error: "Something went wrong. We could not sign you in. Try again from a different device."

Every time I open thunderbird I get a blank screen with this message, 'Edge: Too many requests' over the top of the thunderbird screen. This screen stays on my desktop after I close Thunderbird and I have to change my screen resolution in order to close the screen. Can you help please? Martyn Smith

I just installed thunderbird 144.0.1. I tried to add my yahoo email and got the error Edge: Too Many Requests I've tried multiple yahoo emails. Gmail worked fine.

A fair number of folders in my primary email address's inbox have been out of sorted order for at least several months.
Most of them are folders I access quite often; they now appear AFTER what used to be the last folder ("Zoom").
If this is a "feature," I suggest moving the highest activity folders to the FRONT of the inbox rather than to the BACK.
HOW DO I RE-SORT MY INBOX FOLDERS?

After updating Thunderbird to version 139.0.2 Thunderbird can't connect to my E-Mail provider! Getting error massage saying “user name or password are wrong!” It happening on my PC with windows10 Pro and the same on my laptop with windows 11 Pro. On my browser or my mobile, I can connect without any problem to my e-mail provider. After consulting my provider, his suggestion was to try installing my account again. I did but it didn’t work (same error) I tried installing older version which Thunderbird was functioning on. It didn’t work either. Even that I cleaned my PC from Thunderbird totally. To clear this point on Versions 139.0 and 139.0.1 Thunderbird function as always before. Up to now any Thunderbird update took automatically the existing setting without any problem. Any information how to solve my problem? Thanks.

Did ask forum for help on 12/9/2025, and though there was some info on line to solve my problem, I was unable to understand it, or proposed solutions did not work.Tried now to log into mozilla account, but cannot find any section about any replies. As problem driving me crazy, will try again.
1 When emails come in, instead of the sender being shown in the from box, it gves me at pethen.riseup.net as the sender. 2 If i click on any link in the text of the email which I need to access, this function does not work. All that appears is the link text I click on gets surrounded by a text edit box (ie a thin square line with small boxes you can put an arrow on to change shape of box for editing 3 a yellow banner appears at the base of any email reading " a unique identity matching the from address was not found. + "the messagewill be sent using the current from field and settings from identity peter hendry<pethen@riseup.net> 4 My other emailaddress linked to my mozilla thunderbird client has no problems. This has to be such a simple problem relating to the account set up which for some reason my PC has taken into itself to change, either text in my address books do not match, or I have ticked a wrong bos in the setup, or not ticked one at all,

I had a computer crash and had to reinstall everything on my computer. However, I am unable to add Juno.com to Thunderbird. I receive an authentication error that indicates either the username or password are incorrect. I tried several times without success. I have no problem accessing Juno.com directly on the web with the same username and password I entered in the Thunderbird Auto Hub setup screen.
Prior to the computer crash Juno.com was in my Thunderbird accounts.
Any recommendations?

Unfortunately I deleted the yahoo user name and password in Thunderbird Password/ Saved Logins thinking Yahoo might automatically ask for my new password when re-starting Thunderbird

Something changed. I’ve tried to set up my old AOL email account multiple times using different default browsers, and the setup typically fails. Using Edge, I get “Edge: Too Many Requests” . Using Firefox, I get “Waiting for authorization in login popup…” and then the old rotating arrow. After about a minute delay, the Account Hub reports “Authentication error.” The Thunderbird Account Hub reports the outgoing server settings test good. I’ve changed my AOL email password, and have an AOL application password ready to use, but never get asked. I’ve turned off two-step verification in AOL, but same Thunderbird behavior. I’ve got multiple computers, and this issue is the same on all. I’ve had no problem adding a Gmail and SBCGlobal.net account. Thunderbird is 144.0.1 (64-bit) release. Windows 11 Home, version 25H2. I really don't want to give up Thunderbird, but I need this account badly.

I have tried many times to get Thunderbird to connect to my Gmail account. Whatever I do, it always ends by saying "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password. I have followed all the instructions I can find. The Thunderbird release is 140.4.0esr (64-bit) Running Windows 10.
I have set up an "app password" in Google. Config in Tbird set to IMAP.

This just started October 30th. I am running Thunderbird 140.4.0esr (64-bit) on a Windows 11 Pro 24H2 on a PC and Laptop. Thunderbird email can no longer access my Yahoo Mail Plus account and I get a pop up windows stating Edge: Too many requests several times. I tried deleting the account and trying to reinstalling it back in but I get a error message in yellow pop up box in the account page stating "incorrect password or username". I have also tried to generate a tried party app password in Yahoo mail Plus web client and using that in place of my regular password with the same error message. I can no longer add this account into Thunderbird and I am not able to use my Yahoo mail plus account. This has occurred on both my PC and Laptop. I am fairly certain this has to due with Yahoo Mail's new security policies. I have checked the current setting are correct according to the latest FAQ & Help articles and see many others just starting see this same issue. Please provide me with solution so I can resolve this issue.

I have used thunderbird for years. I have several email accounts on thunderbird. I own a small company with a private domain. The last [work] email both my employee and i received in Thunderbird was on 10/27/2025. The emails just stopped arriving in our inboxes. We can both access email through webmail. Personally i am still able to access all my other emails (gmail.com, comcast.net).
I checked with Hostgator and my thunderbird email settings are correct.
I did not have a SSL certificate so i have just onboarded that feature (not sure if that has any relevance to our current predicament).
Thoughts on how to troubleshoot this problem? Is it possible Thunderbird has made a recent software change?
Any ideas appreciated.

Hello group!
Trying to set up a new email account on shaw.ca, I get a hard error message: "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password" from Thunderbird.
I can send & receive emails via webmail, so all is Kosher at the server side.
Except Thunderbird kicks up a fuss. There's a little dialog box that says "Checking Password", with a tiny blue arrow that moves back & forth, seemingly forever. And then stops cold with that message.

His attached screenshots are almost identical to mine, but for the Hostnames being shaw.ca, rather than gmail.com.
And my flavor of TB: 128.14.0esr (64-bit) Thunderbird for Linux Mintmint-001 - 1.
