Previous version to 88.0 Thunderbird would restore up from the task bar, if the user selected the link in the alert popup. This now selects that email message, but no restore up occurs. I have looked through the setting for incoming emails, and this is not a setting. I believe it was broken by some code change.

My Google is now moving files from my Inbox to All Mail (I don't know why). Thunderbird currently points to the gmail Inbox, so I am not getting my mail in Thunderbird. This applies to only one account at this time. How do I point Thunderbird to the All Mail folder in Google Mail?

When Thunderbird 78.9.1 is the active window on my MacBook Pro running Big Sur 11.2.3, I don't get any visual notification banners for incoming mail, even 'though I hear the notification sound. If any other program window is active, I get both the visual notification banner and the notification sound upon incoming mail. I've checked notification options in both Thunderbird & Mac OS preferences, but can't see anything wrong... Any suggestions to getting both visual and sound notifications when Thunderbird is the active window?

I am on a MacBook Pro, 2017, with macOS Big Sur version 11.2.3. “Get info” tells me that Thunderbird is at 78.9.1.

Address book—cannot edit contacts once entered; contacts will also not delete; to change contact information, another contact must be created.

In the Thunderbird menu, “About Thunderbird”, “Preferences”, “Hide Thunderbird”, “Hide Others”, and “Show All” do not function. The “Quit” function works occasionally. Most of the time I go the dock, hold the icon until a menu forms, and select “quit” from there.

The only way I can update Thunderbird is that when I get a warning that there is an update, I click on the warning. Going through "about Thunderbird" is not an option.

What might be done to repair or replace Thunderbird? Which files from the “Library should I keep, and which can I toss? Restarting with Add-ons turned off changes nothing. Can anyone help?

I am beyond frustrated. Suddenly around April 8, I stopped getting emails downloaded from the AT&T server and I was no longer able to send emails through Thunderbird either.

I know there's potentially some issue with security with SSL settings, or whatever, but I've verified my settings and they all appear to be correct. I even did some kind of test, changing some setting for a minute to see if the problem would clear up, and it didn't. My husband has had no issues receiving or sending email and I've compared his settings to mine and they are exact.

I really have no idea wth I'm doing here, and none of my computer savvy friends have been able to help either. I've basically been told to give up Thunderbird, suck it up and use my AT&T web-based server. Well, I have folders upon folders for organizing my email and I DO NOT WANT TO GIVE THAT UP.

Help!

Mint 20.1 Cinnamon (64 bit) Thunderbird 78.7.1 (64 bit)

My working Thunderbird profile is in a sub folder of a HDD drive where all my data is kept. This has worked fine for years. This morning it didn’t. TB profile manager is set to open my selected profile without asking at startup. When I clicked the icon to start TB it presented me with a profile startup page as if I had never used it in the past – Welcome to Mozilla Thunderbird 78.7.1/set up new email address & etc.

I used profile manager $ thunderbird -p to see if it was looking at my normal profile and it was. I run a nightly backup of my data HDD so set up a new profile using the previous nights version. This also failed to start TB and again just presented me with a Welcome to Mozilla screen. So what has changed? There were some updates when I first logged on this morning one of which was a new kernel. I installed the updates before commencing anything else. I had been using kernel 5.4.0-70, the new one was 5.4.0-72. I looked around but could not find any reports of the replacement kernel giving any trouble with TB but rebooted into the previous one just in case. Still unable to access my profile. I have five days of backup files so I tried an earlier profile but that would not load either.

Don’t know where to go from here. Can anyone offer a suggestion please?

Running 78.9.1 32 bit in WIN7PRO In the Inbox folder pane description I see not the normal message count (in this case 1609) but rather a strange character followed by 342. Upon mouseover this yields "2 in this folder, 340 in subfolders". What is going on here? Explain, please.

Sent folders missing / not displayed

I have twelve email accounts in Thunderbird (including Local Folders).

Two of those accounts are not displaying their Sent folder.

Settings have been checked and they are set to copy sent emails to the Sent folder.

Attempts to create the Sent folder using Right-Click / Create Folder are met with error message; folder already exists.

No idea how long they have been missing.

There are no add-ons (that I've added at least). This is a stock, out-of-the-box installation with updates automatically applied as they come up.

I've a strange problem. I normally don't use such a setup so I can't say if it happened also in the past. Anyway I've looked around and couldn't find a solution for it.

In one office we have some computer, two of them have control on same email account. One of them uses Thunderbird the other uses Outlook 2019. Both are set with POP3 protocol. Both are set to leave the email on the server for 14 days.

Problem is that if I access the email with Thunderbird I can see it leaves the email on server but Outlook is not aware of them seems they are tagged in some way that are not downloaded anymore.

I've not continuous access to the computers so I've not done a full set of tests for example look what happens at the opposite if I access the email before with Outlook.

I've looked around and found many similar cases in the years but all of them related to IMAP accounts, not every single one related to POP3.

I've already checked that Oulook has set the "put a copy of incoming mail into xxx folder".

What I expect was that the same email eas downloaded on both computers, no matters the program used.

Does someone has similar cases ?

Hi all,

I am an experienced user and for years I have never had any issues with TB, until now.

For nearly a week, I noticed that no new emails were being downloaded from two Gmail accounts and one non-Gmail in the latest version 78.9.1.

So I removed all the accounts and tried to set-up them back up to no avail. I tried many fixes as seen below but am still unable to add any email accounts no matter what I've tried. TB consistently times out.

One clue may be that Windows was recently updated to the version I am now running which is 20H2 (Pro). Another clue is when I installed TB on another PC running windows version 1909 as a test, I had no issues!

Here are the attempted fixes:

Disabling Bitdefender virus software Disabling the VPN Running windows and TB in safe mode Uninstalling and clean install Uninstalling and installing older versions of TB Setting up TB while offline then going online Scanning computer for viruses

I am including two screenshots.

One shows the failed set up process, the other, the error console.

Any help is greatly appreciated as I am out of options and dead in the water.

I have seen in the past that people were wanting to know the same thing, but following the solutions from back in time don't work because too many things have changed.

Sooooo, how do I turn this off ?

I noticed the other day that my inbox had emails only from the beginning of the month and that all other emails (from 2015) were gone. I am using Imap protocol.

I checked on the server of microsoft 365 and the emails were not there either. I checked in the folder "Deleted emails" and I have been able to recover 557 msg (out of about 2000).

When I opened again TnBrd (I closed it before recovering from the server), I noticed that the emails in the Recovered Folder were disappearing on the go. I checked again on the server and all deleted emails were again inside the Deleted Emails folder under the option "Recover items deleted from this folder (557 items)". I did this a few times and all the times, when I open TnBrd it happens the same, careless of where I save or move the recovered emails.

I did not change the settings of my filters nor anything in TnBrd and this is happening only from the beginning of this month.

I took off all the Junk emails control, but no luck.

Bug report: Upgraded Thunderbird thinks my gmail account is a pop account. It isn't. it worked fine with the previous version. I don't see how to change it back. Changing the incoming address to imap from pop and correcting the port doesn't do it. The server settings start right off showing pop server with no way that I can see to change it. Somehow the upgrade failed to recognize the previous server settings. How can I fix this?
