As I logged on to Thunderbird this morning, I received a message about the program not being able to compact messages. Then I had a group of emails that either could not be opened or were composed of a lengthy email of letters and numbers that did not appear to be code. This occurred to a group of about 10 emails. The program is fine now. Anyway to restore these garbled or missing emails?

I have 2 email accounts. One with sbcglobal.net the other with outlook.com. Recently the one for outlook won't work. I a get a message "login to server failed" "enter new pass word". I have not changed anything and my configuration seems to be correct. I've checked what was suggested on Thunderbird help and that hasn't helped.

Possibly related to my general opengpg+smartcard configuration see Separate ticket because the call stacks are quite different.

Howdy! After the last update when I want to write an e mail my address listing is NOT in ABC order. But my address book IS in ABC order. How can this be fixed? Thanks, Terry

I installed Nebula and when it installed all the emails in the From field now display as:

Name, abc.123@mymail

instead of simply Name (eg Jon Doerr) as it was before. This happens in all folders. See attached image.

I cannot find how to revert to the format I had, this makes it impossible for me to use TB .... thanks a lot!

Until today, I was able to easily go to a name in the contacts sidebar by just typing the first letter of the name on my keyboard (not in the search contacts box). I am no longer able to do this. For example, if I was trying to find an email beginning with "br" -- I could type that and it would take me to the next entry in the contacts sidebar that began with "br" It kept me from having to scroll through the list all the way to the names beginning with "br" How do I get it to do this again?

Total Sizes: I know one can enable the Size column to see individual email sizes but how does one determine the size of multi selected emails? It would be nice if this showed up in the area above the column headers but AFAICT, this isn't a thing - natively or via an extension? and can only be estimated by putting things into folders and seeing the "Properties" and size on disk ? which may or may not be the same? (due to compression?)

old imap emails disappeared from Thunderbird when account was switched to a new server that did not have the old emails. Is there any way to get the old ones back? I do not have access to the old server anymore.

At first, the messages in the inbox were blank in the lower pane of the classic view in Thunderbird and when I clicked on them they were blank when they opened up. I tried the "Repair Folder" suggestion and ALL of my email messages in the inbox went away.

I don't know what I did but when I restarted my computer all of the messages started downloading into the inbox. I thought my problem was solved but now every received message has a long, drawn-out message of a bunch of letters and numbers before you get to the bottom of it to read the message (See screenshot below).

I have no idea what has caused this and I don't know how to get rid of them.

Any suggestions?

I am taking over a function from another person. We both use Thunderbird. He has all communication on this subject stored in a subfolder. Is there a way to transfer the subfolder to me? The alternative would be to Forward each of the messages to me but because of the number this is not a viable approach. We don't need to Share the subfolder, only transfer it.

I have a situation which I just can't understand how/why it's happening, but moreso, resolve.

I have an email account setup on my server which uses a filter to catch all messages that start with a specific word (let's say beagle) followed by any number of characters (numbers or letters which are permissible using email naming restrictions (eg 123, XYZ, 12398760, Xyate1238127) followed by the domain name, let's say beaglebiggins.co.uk (so beagle123@beaglebiggins.co.uk, beagleXYZ@beaglebiggins.co.uk, beagle12398760@beaglebiggins.co.uk, beagleXyate1238127@beaglebiggins.co.uk etc) and forward them all to a single account, we will use beagle@beaglebiggins.co.uk.

Got it so far? Good!

Now when an individual sends an email, we'll say jackosmith@simpleton.org, to any of the aliases, let's take beagle123@beaglebiggins.co.uk, the email is received fine, by beagle@beaglebiggins.co.uk. So far, so good.

Now in Thunderbird, and I'm presuming only Thunderbird as it works fine on webmail and Outlook for Android, when you click reply or reply-all this happens:

To: beagle123@beaglebiggins.co.uk From: jackosmith@simpleton.org

See what's wrong? No? Then I'll enlighten you...

When you click reply or reply-all, it should say:

To: jackosmith@simpleton.org From: beagle@beaglebiggins.co.uk

... the to and from fields are the opposite to what they should be.

I've seen people mention adding identities, but when you have an infinite number of emails, this is simply not possible.

Could someone tell me a magic trick or suggest an add-on that can resolve this for me please?

I've asked this question before. Sorry but I cannot locate my question on this forum. I have several "sub" address books for special interests: warnings, comedy, politics, etc. In the past I've been able to right click one of these sub-headings and I got a list of actions, including "copy to BCC". That enabled me to send a message or (usually) forward a message to the recipients in that subcategory without sharing their email address with each other. I no longer can get that option on right click. Is there any way I can use that option again? While Thunderbird will send short messages it does not send a message with an attachment. Also recently a message to me with a PDF attachment was received on my phone but not on Thunderbird. I have donated and reinstalled Thunderbird but the problem persists. Problem not with Internet, other programs work perfectly.

I used Thunderbird for my email while I was with Verizon. Somewhere several years ago, Verizon stopped supporting email and I ended up having to use AOL. I want to go back to Thunderbird, but when I've tried I have always ended up needing a password I don't have or in some other dead-end process. I would like to continue with my present email address (roz212ron105@verizon.net), but if that's not possible I would consider changing. Can you help?
