My wife is an ardent and long-time Thunderbird user. She has tens of thousands of old emails organized into dozens of folders. Recently she noted that many folders contained scrambled emails. For example, an email titled "The race to re-design sugar" from Sept. 2020 now contained what looked like content from an email from Office Depot. See below for a short piece of the body of the email. Anyway, I ran Thunderbird's "repair folder" function and not only did it not unscramble the emails, it also seems to have deleted any emails prior to 6 months ago. Fortunately I've got her T-Bird profile file backed up daily, so was able to restore the original (but scrambled) emails. Any thoughts? I use outlook, but I've got pretty good PC skills if you need to take me into the weeds. Thanks!

using a Mac Laptop, Email account is Optus, can receive emails ok but cannot send, getting a failure massage.. Any suggestions please?

Hi!

Trying to use Thunderbird to connect to my hotmail account but get an error message that says I can't log into "server" due to the prefs or login details are wrong. Have tried to search around for answers but can't see that anything is wrong. Any idea what to do? Use windows 10 professional.

I keep getting the message "Sending of password for user kcmsansiro did not succeed. Mail server pop3.iinet.net.au responded: [SYS/TEMP] Account is temporarily unavailable." and "Sending of password for user kcmsansiro did not succeed. Mail server pop3.iinet.net.au responded: Disconnected for inactivity." and "Login to server pop3.iinet.net.au with username kcmsansiro failed" on all 3 accounts (kcmsansiro, phildemaria and philrossi)

I can still receive messages on phildemaria but cant send without getting these messages

Hi, Since 4 days all emails messages ending by ".... @akeonet.com" (SFR company) can't be sent or received via THUNDERBIRD. When opening THUNDERBIRD a password is asked for address email "lalevee.claude@akeonet.com". But the current password doesn't work. I'am getting then a demand to "try again" or "enter a new password" or "cancel" but again without any success. However when trying "Configure your existing address email", I'am getting the message: the email address ("lalevee.claude@akeonet.com") is found in the FAI data base MOZILLA ! Using AKEO webmail, I can find new messages received or can send new ones. Please notice, adresses ending by "...@gmail.com" are not concerned by this problem, and still working !??? Stopping firewalls doesn't solve the issue.

I'm a thunderbird user. I've been getting large blocks of 40 or 50 old (4-5 months old) emails in the middle of the current emails. I delete them, but they're still in their original location.

Only in the last 24 hours,I cannot add Attachements to emails I downloaded Microsoft Iview & that change Preferences on a lot of Apps Below is a examaple of it,I have tried different PDF Readers & they all do the same If I Go To The actual Folder in D Drive,then they will all open ok Please assist Thank you Darryl.Smith

Thunderbird is not downloading. Email email or feeds. It is. Not downloaded since May 11th. Also your website is i Inaccessible Through any of the browsers, please help.

My mails are automatically corrupted or deleted from system.

Before my mail corrupted i had try to make folders for inbox mails and during this process my some of mails are automatically deleted lr corrupted.

How can i resolve this issue Please guide me

I am currently in the process of integrating the Thunderbird policies and about:config settings into a Nix module for NixOS.

It would be nice to be able to easily correlate Thunderbird versions to the matching documentation version. This could be done by using tags on the documentation repository.

Would it be something the Thunderbird team could be considering to add to their workflow?

This is a recent change, and in fact I don't *think* there's a "missing message" problem after reading and watching for a couple of days. I *think* something has changed and Thunderbird reports having "downloaded x messages" even if it *just downloaded them a moment ago*.

So it may download 5 messages, then a few seconds later you hit the Get Messages button, and there are no actual new messages but it still reports "5 messages downloaded" but nothing new is shown. As of last week, it would have reported "there are no new messages" when you hit that button soon after having received messages.

So I think:

• there is no serious messages-missing problem
• there is a disconcerting issue with a change in how Thunderbird reports status where a message arrival state is "sticky" and for some duration after getting new messages it will re-report the count of the last receipt when asked to download when there are no new messages.

I could be wrong about either of these, but there's a definite change in a behavior that I'd gotten very accustomed to. It is alarming to hit the button, see a message regarding some number of new messages, and receive none.

I'm guessing others, like me, spent some time panicking, searching forums, repairing the inbox... I think I'm as interested in confirming that there isn't a bigger problem as I am in getting back to the accustomed behavior.

Currently on 115.11.0 (64-bit) on Windows 11; first occurred at least one version prior.

How can I get back to being able to search for an old calendar event of up to 2 years ago, now that a recent Thunderbird update removed that ability and replaced it with the 7 search periods option box to the left of the 'contain' search window?

"Unable to connect to IMAP server. You may have exceeded the maximum number of connections to this server. If so, use the Advanced IMAP Server Settings dialog to reduce the number of cached connections." I do not have that option under Advanced Server Settings. I'm using POP3 mail server with Optusnet.

Under test set up it says I only have to ensure that the from: email is correct.

But what if I use a different reply-to email address?

for example:

• Person A has a PGP is set up for PrsA@example.com, they also publish their public key in https://keys.openpgp.org/, Their reply-to email is PersonA-lastname@example.com
• Person A sends email with PGP public key attached to Person B. Person A already has Person B's public key.
• Person B receives the public key and saves the cert in relation to PersonA-lastname@example.com just to be sure they go to https://keys.openpgp.org/ to check but it is not there.
• Person B sends an encrypted email to their only known address (personA-lastname@example.com) with the encryption public key provided.
• Would Person A be able to receive the email?

tests I have done:

• I tried this with edward-en@fsf.org and I get an email back saying: Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 550 Edward needs reply-to or from to be the same as envelope from
• I tried this to myself and I am able to read the email.

I have an email conversation that's gone back and forth many times, with the other party including useful links for me. I noticed today that links are only live (blue, clickable) in the most recent email, if I scroll down to past emails in the chain, all links are plain text and not clickable. How can I make them all clickable please?
