Ever since Nov 3 and the last Thunderbird upgrade, I cannot get my emails through Thunderbird, although I can send them OK. I tried changing from POP to IMAP as I thought that might be the problem, but I still don't get the emails. My provider says "not my problem." What else can I try?

I have used Thunderbird for many many years. In recent years, as everyone uses electronic calendars, I have depended upon a linkage between the Outlook Calendar and Thunderbird. This has been through the Lightning add-on. With the updgrade to v78 this has stopped working. What do I do to reconnect these two critical tools?

At my age (83) change presents problems I find hard to fix. TB78 deleted both my address book and all custom colors. I had an address book that I built over a period of 15 years. I had custom colors for the main display page of new emails (which is not white). White is hard on my eyes and difficult to read from. Without getting fancy and technical (like importing from Becky interhet mail, never hard of it, or changing a profile (????) please help me to restore the missing stuff. Thank you, Shell

We are able to receive incoming emails on thunderbird, but we are unable to send emails. Each time we try to send an email, we receive an error message that connection to the SMTP server is timed out. We already checked internet connection, anti virus and still the error message persists. Pleas help as this email is really important.

Hi all -

Just upgraded to TB 78 on Windows 10 x64, Build 2004. Noticed two major things:

Issue 1 -

All of the mail folder icons are no longer yellow. Just a stark white with a black edge. I attached an Image of the issue for review.

Issue 2 -

My Message Composition Pane is dark with white letters and most incoming text mail is the same.

I do have some dark colors set up under PC Settings -> Personalization but everything was working perfectly prior to this new release.

I attached Images of the issue for review. Note the "dark haze" over the HTML email.

No add-ons are enabled!

Any help appreciated! Kind of urgent to me.

This may be a repeated post. If so I'm sorry. I seem to have hit a wrong button and there was no acknowledgment that the question was posted. So I'm re-posting it.

My wife uses an HP desk top computer with Windows 10. She has used Thunderbird for email for three years. Suddenly on 11-17 she could not receive or send messages and received an error message that reads, "Sending of password for user edithg@bellsouth.net did not succeed. Mail server inbound.att.net responded server error. Please try again later."

I restored Windows system settings for 11-16 but she still receives the error message. She has tons of we-mail messages on Thunderbird that she does not want to lose, so uninstalling and reinstalling does not appear to be an option.

Do you have a suggestion?

I've used Thunderbird for years. After the most recent update in late July 2020 (78.0.1), Thunderbird no longer works. It will not download new mail. It does connect to the IMAP server but then gets to "checking mail server capabilities" and hangs with the spinning circle indefinitely.

I have not done anything to Thunderbird, I just let it install the update. I did not install updates to any other program on my PC. I'm running Windows 10 on a laptop that is about 4 months old. Thunderbird worked absolutely fine before the 78 update.

I am not experiencing any connection issues or problems with any other running programs.

I have tried the following fixes already: 1. Checking my account configuration and confirming it is correct with my email provider. I have the correct ports listed and correct server names. 2. Changing the timeout setting from 100 to 2000. 3. I am able to access my email on my provider's Web interface so this isn't a password issue. There is no CAPTCHA required either. 4. I checked my anti-virus/anti-malware program (Kapersky). Thunderbird and Mozilla are both listed in the "allowed apps" list. I tried removing them both and re-adding, as well as searching for other variations of Mozilla/Thunderbird to add. I also tried Kapersky's "refresh" function. 5. I tried restarting my computer. 6. I tried rebooting my wireless Internet connection. 7. I tried using Thunderbird's "start in safe mode with apps disabled" function. 8. I tried re-installing 78. 9. I tried clearing caches and cleaning with CC Cleaner.

Nothing has worked. Something in the 78.0.1 update has messed things up. Thank you for looking into this.

Is it possible to have a version of Thunderbird WITHOUT the awful calendar and chat options, it was possible to uninstall them on earlier versions, but there doesn't seem to be an option to do so now. When I use Thunderbird I want an email client, I DO NOT want a Calendar or chat function. A step by step guide to disabling / removal would be much apprciated.

Hello so I never had a problem with Thunderbird but when I recently looked at my disk space I saw that it uses more than 200 Gb, I tried to find a solution online but I never found anything. At this moment I am downloading the new update and it shows that it installs more than 250 gb already and its not even at the half of the bar.

Can someone please help me reduce this insane amount of memory it uses?

After migrating to Windows 10 from Win7 I downloaded and installed the latest Thunderbird. I filled in all the usual data in the email account information, and no longer am able to access my email account. It is hosted on verio.com. There is no error message displayed when I click the inbox icon under prclarke@zyztemix.com. It bothers me that neither Thunderbird nor my ISP gives me any information to assist me in investigation this problem

I am currently using Mailbird, which I don't like, and can also use web mail on verio.com with round cube, which I also don't like.

Apparently the last update lost my contacts. The address books are still there, but there are no contacts in them. They all seem to be empty address books.

Not sure if this part is relevant, but...

While searching the forum for an fix I noticed others had similar problems that were supposedly fixed in update version 78x. I checked my version, it said 68x on the updates page of the options menu. However, when I checked the update history, it said it was version 78x. I unchecked the automatic updates (may have been in safe mode as that was one of recommendations I found) and checked for updates and it said version 68x was available. Thinking this might bring back my contacts since 78x seemed to have borked the address book, I updated it. Didn't help, but now it says it's up to date with version 68x and version 78x doesn't seem to be available. The history shows it updated 68x on Oct 1 after 78x was updated on Sep 15.

I've used Thunderbird for over 10 years and never had a serious problem before. This is very frustrating as I had over 100 contacts, many with a charity that I help.

How can I get my contacts back without re-entering them manually?

I've been using Mozilla Thunderbird email client for atleast six months since installing Ubuntu. I have Firefox installed but have not used it at all recently. Since it's Ubuntu I don't have running antivirus.

Suddenly, beginning a day or two ago, every time I open Mozilla I get asked to add a security exception. It says that legitimate sites will not ask me to do this. Something about a certificate belonging to a different site which could mean someone is trying to impersonate this site. I keep canceling it but it always comes back.

The location it wants to override how Thunderbird identifies it is outlook.office365.com:993. And there is a button to get certificate. I've not used office375 or outlook within the past several days, though Hotmail is one of the accounts that downloads in Thunderbird.

I deleted all mail I've gotten in the past several days taht I don't know exactly what it is and who it came from, and emptied my spam and trash folders.

I'm still getting this error.

Screenshots are attached. Or, rather, they would be, but they refused to upload. Just jpeg images.

Why am I getting this, and what do I need to do to get rid of it?

I set up a signature as an html file and am attaching that to all outgoing messages. But the people receiving my emails are seeing different fonts for the message body. How to make them so they are the same? I went to options (Tbird 68) and have 'fixed width - medium font' selected. Under 'Formatting - fonts and colors' I have Arial size 16/ fonts for Latin; proportional 'serif size 16'/ serif, sans serif and monospace all 'arial - 16. Minimum font size 16. Allow messages to use other fonts unchecked and use fixed width font for plain text messages unchecked. Anything I'm missing here?

Did the normal update, from 68 to 78 yesterday, once I opened under 78, many of the NAMES in my address book were lost, just a comma in place of the name, but the email detail IS still there. I still have v68 running on my laptop, copied my 78 Profile back to the laptop, replaced all files/folders from my 78 profile into the new profile I created on the laptop, but when I tried to open TBird on the laptop using that replaced file info, it refused, said it's incompatible to go from 78 back to 68. Is there any way to get my 78 profile running on a 68 install so I could check to see if the v 78 is just not able to read the names in my address book (so I could recover the address book fully and export it for importing into v78), or if the new install of 78 actually has corrupted my address book information and it's lost now? Alternatively, is there a way to repair my address book in 78 that would bring back the lost names?
