my name is Chris and it would be great if there is someone out there who maybe knows a solution for my problem with the E-Mail-Program Thunderbird. This is what happened and I really don't know why:

I have createt a new subfolder in the sent-folder. The idea behind this was, I will safe my sent e-mails in an extra folder and so the sent-folder stays empty. After I had created the subfolder and named it "Safety Folder Sent E-Mails" I have selected all E-Mails in the sent folder and moved them in the new subfolder. It took a moment and then I checked the two folders with this result: the sent-folder is empty and the new subfolder is ... what?? It's also empty?? How is that possible?? And why?? ... What?? - Now all Sent-E-Mails are gone. I can do what I want, they are gone. Even the click on the "Repair"-Button in the properties has no effect in both folders. If you take a look at the properties of the original sent-folder then there appears "0 E-Mails - File Size: 386 MB". The properties from the new folder are "0 E-Mails - File Size: 0 MB". So I opened the Windows-File-Explorer and checked the original sent-file on the computer. Ok, it's there and the size is the same as in the folders properties. And if I open it with the Windows Editor, then you can read only the first and the last E-Mail. The text between them both looks like this: "kwjgflkjwgjkrwguhqwukjgkj23gnvirorghnefoihrflo ..... ".

Does anybody know what has happened and how I could solve this matter? Because I don't understand it ... I was sitting there and I couldn't believe my eyes. All my sent-e-mails are really gone ... all ... I almost freaked out ...

The version from Thunderbird I use is the newes 78.12.0 Plattform is Windows 10 with newest Updates

It would be really great if somebody knows what to do.

Thunderbird: Every email in Trash has dupicated and deleted unopened emails stay "bolded" now.

Newest version already. For no apparent reason, all emails in Trash duplicated and some of those emails became "bolded". My unopened emails lose their "bold" when deleted… (читать ещё)

Newest version already. For no apparent reason, all emails in Trash duplicated and some of those emails became "bolded". My unopened emails lose their "bold" when deleted. I ran Repair on both folders. Now the issues have stopped but I have thousands of duplicate emails and deleting any email in Inbox takes about 20 seconds each.

Can I fix this without having to manually delete the dupes, or by deleting them all???

A few weeks ago, a problem occurred for the first time. Each time I now open Thunderbird it downloads all 6,500 message headers in my in-box. It takes only a few seconds but it tiresome. I have searched for a solution online and several people had previously suggested removing a certain file from within the application. However, I couldn't find the file anywhere. I am afraid I have forgotten the name of the file that was mentioned.

I recently installed OWL (paid) software and this might have something to do with it but I cannot see an obvious way of removing OWL to check what happens afterwards.

Does anyone have any helpful suggestions? I am using Version 78.12.0 (64-bit) on Windows 7 Home Basic Version 6.1

In a Windows 10 PC, it is impossible to send emails with Thunderbird (78.12.0 / 64 bits) --> nothing occurs when I try to do it. If I change the name of the 2 Thunderbird folders in the users folder, when I start Thunderbird new profile folders are created, then I can create an email account and everything is OK. What are the files corrupted in the profile ? How can I get them OK again ?

I don’t want to create a completely new profile for not loosing all data ...

I've been struggling with my AOL accounts on Thunderbird, and I'm hoping someone here may be able to help.

My AOL email account started to fail to connect properly to Thunderbird several months ago. In that time, I've removed and added the account multiple times, including following the steps outlined in "chosen solution" on this thread: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1309104. Typically, the account will work immediately after I add it again, but will eventually exhibit some or all of the following problems: not displaying folders, failing to connect when I try to download messages, failing to connect when I try to move messages between folders, or failing to send messages. It doesn't seem consistent what problems I run into when. Eventually, I just remove the account and add it again, hoping that it keeps working for a day.

Any insight? Thanks!

Hello, I have a lot of problem when I try to find a mail with Thunderbird. I think that the problem come from me so I hope you will able to help me. I use the last version 78 but the probleme still exist from years. I'm often imagine to change my mailsoft for this. I all ready try resintall, rebuilt messagebox base, and use an other computer.

I start with the first way, looking for a mail with the "quick filter" search: The type of search filter is allready select and when I change it (the type or word), sometime it doesn't do anything in the search result. To avoid this problem, I choose multiple filter but the search become very long and not very efficient or just never end.

Most of the time, the search is long and during the search, the first result show is not the most recent. It's very annoying and not logical (I don't speak about the sort). Sometime when I tap ENTER, the search change to principal search and open a new tab. I don't know why.

For ending, the search is not relialbe. Sometime, it doesn't find a mail with the word or it find a mail with the searching word. So this function is very caotic for me. But, I never read problem from other people or a addon to correct this or a changelog concern this. I hope, you will explain to me what I doing wrong and why I seam to be the only user who hate Thunderbird search fonction.

Thunderbird occasionally attach the incorrect file if using drag and drop

Hi there,

I was using Thunderbird 32 bit version 78.12.0. So I always receive emails from one department, then I must attach the PDF file from that email to another email for our clients. Normally I must save the attachment to my computer first, then on the email to my client I attach the file from my computer. BUT, being lazy as I am... I decide not to save the file to my computer, but instead I drag and drop the file from received email... to the new email window which I already prepared for my client.

To my suprise, between the last 3 months (and I do this daily for about 5 to 10 emails), I received total 6 respond from my various clients that I wrongfully attach the file. When I check the send folder, I found my email was attached with the correct file name. But when I open the PDF file, it contain the different file (the PDF which used to be send to another client). I checked my inbox, and found that I received the email with correct PDF name and also correct content.

6 cases from about 750 emails sound like a minority report, but this is wrong and dangerously for my business. Therefore I tried to re-produce the error, and here is my finding so far: - If those wrong email I do the drag and drop once more... the sent email will keep mistakenly attach the same file (correct name, but consistently using the wrong content). - If I create new mail, to the same destination address, with the different subject, then I do drag and drop once more, the attachment is correct. - The incorrect content were randomly picked by the Thunderbird (?), sometimes it's from the nearest attachment in the same date, or a day before... but sometime from 5 months ago. - I've not use any add on at all (never install any add-on, and I've checked the add on window is empty).

About 25% of the time when hit 'send' on an email I have written, I get this error message: "Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.gmail.com was lost in the middle of the transaction. Try again."

What's perplexing is that the message does appear in my 'sent' folder and if I "try again", a duplicate email is sent. I have attached a copy of the error message and the settings on TB under the SMTP server.

I'm using TB 78.12.0. Thanks for your help.
