I don't know my password to open my email, how do I find it? I have had my email account for years never needed to sign in and now I'm out, I need help I have a lot of important messages waiting.

Not sure of the best way to ask this. I am using TB 102.13 on a win 7 pro desktop machine.

Cox recently ported my email acount to Yahoo. There are about 100K emails in my cox inbox that were ported to yahoo. After modifying the server settings in TB so that I can use TB with the Yahoo server (I use POP settings), TB now sees all of the 100K emails as new, and each time I click the "get messages" button it starts downloading all of the 100K emails. I closed out of TB to stop the download.

I am told that in order for TB to only download actual new emails from the Yahoo server, I must let this process run. However, my official TB inbox uses about 30 filters to place incoming emails into the correct folders as they are downloaded.

All I want is to download the emails currently on the Yahoo server into a new created "dummy" inbox folder so that after the massive download, I can delete the folder and get back to being able to use TB appropriately. Can someone provide a 'how to" for doing this? TIA

Hi everyone, My Thunderbird yesterday - without doing any unusual chances that know of - went weird. Whenever I open the programme now it shows a completely different interface and I can't navigate back in any way to the usual calendar, email, contacts. It also seems to be frozen, because when I click settings it doesn't open any window. I have attached a screenshot of how it looks now.

Could anyone help me out on how to get back to regular Thunderbird? I am also a bit worried of losing all my contacts / calendar.

Let me know if there's more info I can give from my end. Any help very much appreciated.

I've noticed that contacts disappear from my address book. On checking it seems Thunderbird is automatically deleting them!

This is unwanted behaviour.

I need it stopped.

On Mac Sonoma 14.4, Thunderbird 115.12.2

When I try add my Gmail account or calendar account, the Gmail sign-in prompt page comes up but is entirely blank and does not load. When I restart my laptop I can sometimes get the page to load but when I allow my account to be connected, the next page does not load still. So the authentication process does not finish. The result is the same whether I enter my password on Thunderbird or not.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Thunderbird, and downgraded to an older version. Same issue.

I am not sure if it is a Mac issue but I am only having the issue with Thunderbird.

I've noticed recently that addresses that were in my personal address book have disappeared, basically they've been deleted. This next bit is from memory so excuse the vagueness. The last time I looked for these I found them in a bin marked as "deleted by thunderbird".

What is going on?

I need these addresses back.

i have 2 desk top windows 10 comps and an ipad and i phone which all share the same email address. 1 comp works fine, the other desktop and ipad will send emails but not receive them, the iphone can send emails and sometimes receives them but not all the time. IMAP port 993 and ssl/tls with normal password. Disabling Avast anti virus did not fix it. any ideas?

I cannot send or receive messages on my Thunderbird a/c. I Believe I have to firstly update my email password from my supplier (Spark New Zealand) but to date I have been unable to do this. When I tried to do this on line Thunderbird indicated they did not recognize my email account at all. What should I do?

I don't seem to be able to self help very good anymore, can someone please take the time to teach me / guide me through the steps ?

Thunderbird 115.12.1 (64-bit) on Linux Debian 12, I have several accounts in a panel on the left. When the accounts are collapsed, they unexpectedly expand and make it difficult to know which account's email I'm reading on the right.

How do I control that behavior, please?

On powering up my PC this morning, opened Thunderbird and everything was gone - email settings to my various accounts, settings, calendar, addresses etc nothing is left at all

All I have is a basic screen : "To set up your existing email address" etc

I keep getting "can't connect" message and I have to enter my password for outgoing mail. Incoming comes through no problem. How can I get Thunderbird to remember my provider password for outgoing? They obviously already have it for incoming.

I can not get thunderbird to stop opening a web page on start up. Deselect the "when thunderbird launches......." but it is turned back on once I close and restart

It actually opens my browser and opens a thunderbird donation page.....

After the update to 115.12.2 (64-bit) installed, I made a couple of changes to tasks and TB went sideways and crashed, and continued to crash upon startup every time I restarted, even after a reboot. So, I copied a backup of my AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird directory onto the TB AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird dir. Now TB starts, but I have only Mail and I see no way to get Calendar/Tasks back. How do I do that?

Compact folders: caused a saved draft email to disappear. Closing and re-opening Thunderbird resolves this. Suggest the help document https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/compacting-folders-potential-complications be updated to advise this solution (before the user raises an issue). How does this message get to someone who can action this?

Regularly the messages in some subfolders are doubled. I don't know why or how it was triggered. It is very annoying, because some subfolders contain a lot of messages. Since I don't know how to get rid of this double messages, except by deleting them by hand one at the time, it is a very time consuming matter. I tried repairing the folder, but that didn't work. I already have had a folder where all messages were doubled several times. So every message was there six, seven, or eight times! Is there somebody with an explanation and - preferably - a solution to prevent this?

I have been using Thunderbird a long time and I have emails going back about twenty years. This means that the built in import/export feature is hopeless. So I copied the entire Thunderbird folder to the new computer. I was able to transfer thousands of emails, but when I looked more closely I saw that my new Thunderbird only went back about 2 years. I would be very grateful if someone could tell a way to make it include the missing older emails.
