I updated from version 60.? to 68.2 tonight and 11 out of my 13 add ons no longer work (legacies)
I've said it before but TB updates are getting to be as problematic as Window updates.
Don't the idiot developers understand why this is not acceptable? I can barely use Thunderbird tonight.
TB may be free but I make voluntary contributions to Mozilla but not for this shit.
Continue like this and very few people will bother to write add-ons for TB and very few people will bother to install them either.
TB say that updates have improvements but it's one step forward and 11 steps back tonight for me.
Can a volunteer answer this please and pass it on to development?

I migrated all information from my old laptop to my new laptop using a commercial program. On my new laptop I briefly opened Thunderbird to check it had migrated the Local Folders and it seemed fine. Since then when I try to open Thunderbird I get the message "Your Thunderbird profile cannot be opened. It may be missing or inaccessible" and it will not open. In Appdata / roaming /Thunderbird I can see a file Profiles and a configuration setting profile 1KB. It appears the profile is still there but "inaccessible". Can anyone help please? Thanks

When installing 68,2 update I was asked to reboot which I did. Then once the computer was running again I attempted to open T'bird and once again asked to reboot which I did. I opened the computer again and the same thing. I attempted to uninstall T'bird and once again told that I needed to first reboot. I have now rebooted over half a dozen times and still can not open T'bird. What do I do next to make T'bird work?

What is wrong here, I think Vers. 68.2.2 is the current version, no matter which operating system.

NOW, When my wife got a new system, i installed the latest and greatest version of Thunderbird. It looks REALLY Cool with the Calendar and such. SO.. is there a way to leave my v2.0.0.24 where its at.. and install 68.2.2 on the same system?? AND.. slowly merge what mail boxes i really want instead of all of them??!!?? When using Go64-software to pre-check this it diagnoses that Thunderbird (64-bit version 68.2.2) has a file 'libxpcom_core.dylib' could cause problems, depending on how the app handles situations where its 32-bit components would normally be used and recommends to "check for a more recent version or contact the application's developer for more information!?

My university uses office 365 email. My primary office 365 email account is currently set up on Thunderbird. It was easy to set up and works fine. It has been for ~8 years.
Recently we have started using what we call "organizational accounts" set up in office 365. These are accessible by multiple people and authenticate from the authorized users my primary email accounts. In fact in Outlook, I can simply set the organizational account up as a second mailbox. I would like to do this in Thunderbird. I have tried adding it as a second account, but Thunderbird appears to complain that I am using the same credentials for the second account. I am not sure if this is a problem with Thunderbird or with Office 365.
I would love to continue using Thunderbird. Any ideas how to make this work?

This is a newer, better version of a question that I previously bungled badly. As of this morning, I was running TB 68.1.0 (32-bit) on Windows 10 Pro (10.0.18362). Every day or two, I was getting a pop-up window warning me that TB couldn't update to the latest version and I needed to download a "fresh copy". This warning had a whiff of strangeness about it, so rather than using the link provided, I downloaded the latest version from the Mozilla site and installed it. Even though I'm now at the latest version on the release channel, I'm still getting the same warning, (see attached screenshot). Is this a legitimate warning coming from TB? If so, what do I need to do to dismiss it?

I then deleted all but 10 emails from trash folder to see if restoration would restore them. When I tried restoring the profile backup, received the following error message: "Cannot remove folder 5sm7hxs2.default.sbd.sbd. The filename or extension is too long." Do I rename the file to delete the second .sbd? Any solution/suggestion most welcome. Pls cc jobby@att.net, as I can't find my previous question or Christ1 reply on this site.

I've been having trouble with emails going out from our house being tagged as spam (whole other issue). I called our ISP (Spectrum) and they insist it is something to do with Thunderbird. I went into TB to delete my account specs (server/password) but not the data, so that I could start new with the settings. After trying to delete it, I kept getting a script error and then everything froze, so I had to close the application. After opening it back up, all my emails are gone (from 1999 to the present) - emails as well as folders. I've tried researching how to recover the emails but most of the suggestions have to do with problems after reloading TB and the new default profile. I have tried replacing the current profile with the files in the previous profile and it brings back some things but only to 2014, so I put everything back the way it was (with the files and folders that were in the current profile). I haven't reloaded TB, so I don't think I want to change my profile. It does get backed up by Carbonite and I'm wondering if I can restore it with a previous version of the same profile but I'm a little afraid to keep playing around without asking some more questions. And if I were to try and replace it with a previous backed up version of the current profile, do I search for the same folder name (in Carbonite) and then just replace everything?

Очень долго пользовался Thunderbird (примерно с осени 2011 года) и не было никаких проблем, но вот недавно в консоли появилась ошибка, а новые сообщения перестали загружаться. Причем обращение к серверу идет, в строке состояния появляется надпись типа "Новых писем 98... ". Вот что в консоли Ошибка: [Exception...
