Since the upgrade to 68.3, my wife can no longer open attachments of Word documents (docx) whose filename contains blank spaces (e.g. File name.docx). The error message popups indicate that Word is trying to open a different document with each word in the filename. So, in the above case it tries to open a document named File.docx, fails, and the another document named name.docx and also fails. Oddly, this is limited to Word files. Similarly named PDFs and PowerPoint files work fine.
The temporary files created when I attempt to open the offending attachments are saved with the proper folder. I can find them in the Tools->Saved Files, and the full file names appear. Attempting to open them through Thunderbird results in the same error. However, selecting the Open Containing Folder, and then double-clicking them from there (taking Thunderbird out of the loop) works as it should.
I've tried safe mode, but that did not fix the problem. She can forward the email to me, and I can open it on my laptop.....using version 68.3. If I replace the spaces with underscores and ship the file back to her, it opens without incident. The settings on our installations are the same, both using Windows 10, both with Word 2016.
I've tried repairing the folder (Inbox), compacting, and even deleting the msf file so it could be rebuilt, but the problem persists.
In scanning the database, I found an old problem that is similar: content-disposition filename cut (truncated) at space. That problem was resolved 16 years ago. As best as I can tell, that problem involved saving the file, whereas in this case the temporary files are being saved correctly, but Word is being told to open a file with only the portion of the name until the space, and then additional files between the spaces.
I tried reinstalling 68.3, but got the same results. I rolled her back to 68.2.2 and restoring a profile from the day before the upgrade, and everything works as it should.
There is nothing peculiar about her configuration. The only thing not by default is her email data (not the profile) is stored in a separate partition on her SSD, a D partition devoted to data storage only.
Disabling the internet security did not help. Since the email data was unchanged in the restore process, the problem does not lie in the data file.

For a month now one of my 4 email addresses has given the famous error message that gets a lot of play on these pages:
An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: Request failed; Mailbox unavailable. Please verify that your email address is correct in your account settings and try again.
The other ones work fine, except for my (my name)@sbcglobal.net, which, when I try to send from returns this error message:
Login to server outbound.att.net with username (my name)@sbcglobal.net failed.
It is worth noting that 3 of my email addresses work fine, so the above error message is not the root problem (?)
I tried removing the REPLY TO entry, and putting in the same email address in that box as the email I was sending from. These solutions worked for some people, but make no difference for me. Any other things to try? Thanks for any suggestions.

Now it would be pretty logical, that there is a filelink provider, that uses firefox send as backend. But this does not exist. Why?

We've been using Thunderbird on multiple desktops and laptops for many years. Our service provider is GSuite. Few months back we have replaced the ADSL old infrastructure (asynced 100/3) with a brand new fiber optic cable (syned 10/10) and a new CheckPoint 750 router. Beforehand this change, everything worked smoothly.
Right after we've installed the new connection the performance of Thunderbird dropped (slow in receiving emails, very slow when trying to open new folders and when trying to copy an email from one account to another). Since we have laptops we can compare performance also outside of the office network, and I can report that outside of the network, these problems disappear. Following this we also replaced the office internal switches (twice) to brand new ones. This didn't help as well.
Our service provider is managing the router and is aware of the problem, but they haven't found any problem. We did try to give higher priority to all relevant ports to boost the email traffic, but it didn't help as well.
In Thunderbird we have tried all the 'performance hints' available online. Didn't help as well.
There is one thing that I've noticed, which so far is not explained, and I don't know if it is relevant - in many cases, while at the office network, when we try to have any 'heavy' operation (like creating a new folder or copying an email from one account to the other), there is an error message from Thunderbird about authentication failure. When I looked up for the source of this error, I found out that G Suite sometimes invoke this error and the solution is to use the OAuth2. The thing is that we are already using this protocol... and still we get this error...
Anyone suffered from such problem? Any ideas how to solve this beside rolling back to the old infrastructure?

If I delete these messages off the remote server, they are deleted LOCAL as well.
How do I ARCHIVE LOCALLY on a local drive, and keep this separate from the IMAP account by pressing the ARCHIVE button>?

Don't the idiot developers understand why this is not acceptable? I can barely use Thunderbird tonight.
TB may be free but I make voluntary contributions to Mozilla but not for this shit.
Continue like this and very few people will bother to write add-ons for TB and very few people will bother to install them either.
TB say that updates have improvements but it's one step forward and 11 steps back tonight for me.
Can a volunteer answer this please and pass it on to development?

I am running Thunderbird version 68.2.1 under windows 10. There are four accounts connected via Thunderbird. I also connect using a Samsung S9.
I have tried varying the number of permitted IMAP connections between 1 and 10 with no result. I have also disabled the Norton incoming email scan, again to no avail. As a last resort, I have tried switching off the phone to make sure it's IMAP connection is closed but this also makes no difference. The strange thing is that all of the accounts seem to be working perfectly.

I would like to set my font in thunderbird to arial.this is for my viewing of everything on the screen. but everytime i go to options-display-formatting: i change the default setting "segoe ui" to "arial" nothing happens. the advanced font settings read: fonts for latin, proportional: sans serif, serif: cambria, san-serif:segoe ui, monospace: consolas. no matter how many times i change this & hit ok. it goes back to these same settings. what am i missing???

We're having trouble with the Quicktext extension, which we use for template emails. When writing an email, we can see and use the toolbar to choose an email template, but nothing happens, ie. the template doesn't appear in the email. I've had a look at the settings for Quicktext and Thunderbird generally, but nothing looks out of place. This is happening on multiple computers.

Each time I open Thunderbird to receive mail Through "Mail Washer Pro" I get this message, however, the email still comes in and gets sent. Many of the incoming emails I.E. allowed adds (not spam) are missing pictures in about 60% of the senders. The rest shoe up just fine. Are they related problems or are there two different ones? I'm using Malware Bytes Premium and can't seem to find a block being caused by that.

I've been using Thunderbird for may years as my default email platform on my desktop PC (currently running Windows 10) for my email accounts as I enjoy its functionality. In June of 2019 iCloud.com email accounts required an "App-Specific Password" in order for Thunderbird to be allowed access. In June of 2019 I generated an App Specific password in iCloud.com and everything worked well. If I ever closed down Thunderbird the next time that I opened the program I was requested to enter the password. I entered my App Specific password and everything worked fine.
Recently (Nov 2019) Thunderbird has not been recognizing my App Specific password and I have been forced to create a new one at iCloud.com. This would occur whether or not I exited the Thunderbird program. This has progressed from a daily recurrence, to a multiple times a day recurrence, to an hourly recurrence, to the point where it is occurring every few minutes, and even to the point where a new App Specific password is being required to view a different folder in Thunderbird.
This is very frustrating. I'm just curious if anyone else is having this same issue? ...and what I can do to have this issue rectified?

Type some text, highlight it, change font size, text style and colour all work as expected but when I change the font to arial, segoe, times new roman, or any of the other options then nothing changes. Also when I change the font then type some new text the text is still in the original font. In other words although Tbird looks like it is accepting my change of font setting the font is not actually changed. Have tried running Tbird in safe mode, have tried changing the default font type but no matter what i try the text is always in what looks like arial or maybe calibri font or something like that. Nothing I try changes this. Have tried to find a manual or help on line but unable to find anything about this. Am I doing something wrong?
