I've gone through most of the questions asked regarding this and have tried to follow all of the directions but none of them work. Let me begin by saying this is the worst time I've ever had at migrating from an old computer to a new computer using TB ever. EVER! This is the worst. I am moving from an ASUS Win11 to a HP Win11 so there shouldn't be that much of a problem. I've done this more than a few times so I know the drill of copying the %appdata% from one place to another. I have installed uninstalled deleted reinstalled, uninstalled reinstalled deleted three times and keep getting the same problem and have been doing this going on three days. I donated to get his copy and am about to ask for my donation back if I don't get a very simple answer. I keep getting that error message no matter what I do. I need a very simple walk through on how to get what I am able to save from the old computer into the new computer without a lot of magic and rain dancing and click here and delete this and see if this sticks. I need a very simple take your profile.zip and unpak it here then open TB and do this. PERIOD. The profile is on the same computer not a server. If I cannot get a quick down and dirty answer please just tell me and I'll ask for my donation back and move to MS outlook and deal with their FU'ed POS. I really don't know why TB has taken a turn for the worst here. But it's not looking good IMHO.

Hyperlinked text does not paste into Thunderbird email. Only the text pastes in. The hyperlinks do not. If I paste in text that has several hyperlinks already embedded only the text pastes in. The hyperlinks are lost. I must paste the hyperlinked text with the URLs. How do I do this. All searches are irrelevant. I know hot to insert URL into new text but that is not the issue. My text to be pasted already has many hyperlinks in the text and I do not want to laboriousness do them all again. When I paste in a paragraph of test that already has several hyperlinks I want that ALL to past in. How to I do this?

Where are by Thunderbird gmails stored? I am running two email server programs right now (Outlook and Thunderbird). Outlook stores gmail in the cloud and there are thousands of them, Naturally I do not want TBird to store all emails on my hard drive but I am told they are on my hard drive. If so this will eat up ALL my disc space. Where does TBird store my emails? If on my drive then how to I control how many are saved there and what will saved in the gmail cloud?

my windows 11 was crashed and browsing was not working so i repaired my window, thunderbird lost all profiles and data from the program but all the emails and folders names i had are visible in local directory, so i tried to setup new account and then change local directory to my old directory. i did this few times before and it worked perfectly but now this method is not working and only handful of emails imported i need help and solution, these are years of emails and very important last few weeks important emails are missing

Why does the Tbird directory show two accounts with different content', for the same email address? Totally confusing. See attached screen shot redacted for privacy -- the email addresses are the same. One indicates 7 and the other 25 in the inbox. WHAT is going on?

Imported address data from Outlook, the Thunderbird address books lists last names only under "names," email column is blank, phone numbers column lists email addresses and addresses column lists phone numbers. Selecting "Restore column order" has no effect. Any advice welcome. Thanks.

Upon startup, top email displayed is the 2nd email present in the inbox. If 1st email is one at top when leaving TB, next startup will show the 2nd email on top. You can then scroll up and see the top one. Likewise, if a new email come in, it also shows the one below that as the top one and must scroll up to see it. No emails are lost, just a display thing. Don't recall which version this started, but it didn't use to do this.

Hello all I just started my thunderbird after years of outlook. And I have donated money I hope this helps to keep this alive. With recent 2FA changes I have had to move here. it is years of old emails and for now I am getting them to review later.

But everyone seems nice here.

When I am downloading I notice limits on number of messages in one mailbox in Thunderbird. One mailbox is everything inside one email username right?

Sometimes it stops at 10, 000 Is the limit based on thunderbird or the email server I am getting my emails from ???

I permanently deleted all messages in a folder (call it "Unwanted"), then moved Unwanted to Trash, then deleted it permanently. It appeared to be gone. However the next time I opened Thunderbird, Unwanted was back. I tried this several times with the same result. I tried renaming it to "DeleteMe" but then I got the message "The folder could not be renamed. Perhaps the folder is being reparsed, or the new name is not a valid folder name."

Once again, I "permanently" deleted Unwanted and closed Thunderbird. Using a file manager, I found and deleted all relevant folders and files matching "Trash.*" and "Unwanted*.*" and rebooted the computer. However when I opened Thunderbird, an empty "Trash" folder was regenerated as expected, but the "Unwanted" folder was back.

How can I get rid of Unwanted? Thanks!

I am using a Mac with Big Sur (macOS Monterey, Version 12.7.5), and my email is POP, using Thunderbird Version 115.11.0.The message count of my inbox is wrong. It is two (2) more than it actually is. Right now there are ten (10) messages in my inbox BUT the message count of my inbox says twelve (12). Please correct.

Cox has moved its email from its servers to Yahoo and while the "cox.net" stays the same I am not able to get my email through Thu Thunderbird as there are 2 places in the account Server settings that need to be changed, 1) Server name, and 2) Local Directory. I have had no luck in changing either as I really don't know what to put in either one. HELP11

I changed my BT email password but cannot send emails from Thunderbird. I can receive them. I receive this message - Unable to authenticate to Outgoing server (SMTP) mail.btinternet.com. Please check the password and verify the 'Authentication method' in 'Account Settings | Outgoing server (SMTP)'. I have checked my outgoing server settings which are -

My BT email works fine for both receiving and sending so the problem is with Thunderbird outgoing mail settings

Cox has recently given their email to yahoo. While the cox.net email works on yahoo mail when I tried to configure my cox.net email address on tbird mail it failed Will my cox.net email address once again work on tbird mail Thank you

TB 115.8.0.1, Mac OS Sonoma 14.5 Over the years my Address Book has acquired many separate entries for the same individual, with two or more (obsolete) email addresses, for example. Also, one with email address only, and another with phone number, plus various pieces of contact data in one or both cards. If there is a way to compare, choose correct data, and combine contact files, I can't find it. If not, I'd like to propose an enhancement. Thank you.

Hello, I own and operate my own business in the automotive repair sector however my direct computer knowledge is not sufficient in many cases. My issue is that my Gmail and Thunderbird is linked to send messages to my clients for estimate purposes. Incoming mail to Gmail as well as outgoing from Gmail gets copied into Thunderbird. Assuming that Thunderbird had so many emails on the screen I asked the internet on how to do a mass email delete. Now I assume "that" is the reason why all my labels/folders are now empty I can both Gmail and Thunderbird? These folders held important invoices, contact information and just important information for me to go back into should a situation require it. How do I recover all of my deleted messages in Thunderbird? Will this repopulate the folders with my missing information?? The individual who set it up for me is an expert in the field however I am unable to make any contact with him. He's not responding to any of my messages or calls. Please help. Now please remember I am very ignorant when it comes to this type of experience. Please provide me with the most elementary explanations for this recovery process. When I try to download messages on one of several POP3 accounts I get the error message Unable to write the email to the mailbox. Make sure the file system allows you write privileges, and you have enough disk space to copy the mailbox. and it keeps downloading the last message I received before the problem started.

I have tried repairing the folder, clearing cache and even turning off my anti-virus for Thunderbird but to no avail. No problems on my other accounts
