Cannot access about:config on Firefox android. This seems to be an intentional action as there is an archived thread where other users had the same problem and Firefox did crikets and did not resolve the issue.

Without the ability to access about:config it is almost impossible to prevent browser hacks and spying through microphone and camera using the Firefox's always on webrtc due to this.

For anyone reading this search for "webrtc leaks" . Then read about the dangers of having webrtc on by default as Firefox does with impunity.

This needs to stop and it is a huge security hole.

Firefox developers needs to enable about:config so that users can switch off shouting vulnerabilities like this.

There has been threads before like this, but developers do nothing about this issue which is very very curious.

Should we believe they want to leave webrtc on permanently, knowing that it can be used maliciously as reported?

In my dev laptop I installed an SSL cert using mkcert. Works fine in all desktop browsers. They don't even prompt to accept the "risk" and continue. But in my Android phone on the same LAN (with the dev subdomain in dns) I get that prompt from both Chrome and Firefox. That would be acceptable, except Firefox prompts pretty much every time I return focus to the app. It gets annoying having to click two extra buttons (Advanced then Accept Risk and Continue) for every code change that needs to be tested in all browsers.

Is there any way to make Android Firefox permanently accept the cert or any other solution?

The lack of a JavaScript switch in Firefox (Android) - why?

I have noted from a web search that the subject of Javascript in Firefox (Android) has caused issues for some users of this browser.

I understand that JavaScript is now enabled by default in the standard version of Firefox (Android). It appears that once upon a time there was a config setting that could be tweaked to switch JavaScript on or off, but that setting may no longer work. Additionally, I also understand there are add-ons for the Android version of Firefox that can, amongst other things, apparently switch JavaScript on or off.

People here might be surprised to learn that the minimalist Firefox Focus (Android) browser already has a built-in, easily accessible, switch to turn JavaScript on or off:

Settings > Privacy & Security > Web Content > Block JavaScript

So, the point I would like to raise with Mozilla (but it seems to be impossible to contact them directly) is, if it is available in Firefox Focus (Android), why the heck is this switch not available in the mainstream, standard version of Firefox (Android)? It makes absolutely no sense not to have it, surely?

I would suggest that a good place to include a JavaScript switch would be in the 'Site permissions' section of Firefox (Android) settings. It is merely a suggestion as, for example, within the rather useful competitor Vivaldi (Android) browser there is such a switch located here:

Settings > WEB PAGES > Site settings > JavaScript

As for why there should be a JavaScript switch within Firefox (Android), that question is largely irrelevant. Mozilla have already seen a need to include it in Firefox Focus (Android), so what possible good reason could there be for not including it in Firefox (Android)? It mystifies me, and it's omission is an inconvenience too.

Does anyone here have a sensible answer to this question?

"Secure Connection Failed": Firefox for Android only

Hi.

My internet banking site seems to not work with Firefox for Android.

It works fine with:

  • Firefox (Desktop)
  • Chrome (Android)

The page is:

https://login.anz.com/internetbanking

Just wondering where should I report this.

Firefox is not one of the bank's officially supported browsers , but given it works fine on Firefox Desktop, is it a problem with Firefox for Android?

password completion fails for moz-proxy:// on Android

Hi. I use Firefox Nightly and I enabled a secure proxy over TLS using only the built-in features, no addons.

My about:config : network.proxy.type = 2 network.proxy.autoconfigurl = data:text/plain,function FindProxyForURL(u,h){return "HTTPS my-secure-proxy:443";}

When I open any site for the first time it asks for the proxy credentials as expected: The proxy moz-proxy://my-secure-proxy:443 is requesting a username and a password.

After entering the credentials I confirm to save them and as long as the Firefox app is not stopped it works. However, when the app is restarted it asks for the password again with both fields blank and after entering the same credentials it asks me to update the saved credentials.

This only happens on Android. Firefox for Windows with the same proxy settings can autocomplete the moz-proxy:// password.

I think it has something to do with the OS keyring unable to store the passwords for unknown URI schemas.

Is there some workaround for that?

Firefox on Chromebook

installed Firefox on my Chromebook some time ago. By default it seemed to save username when logging in to a website and would also ask if I wanted to save the password. I would always answer no to saving the password. I wasn't using my Chromebook much so I ignored this behavior and then weeks later I finally went to settings, login and passwords, and for each section, this is what I entered for settings:

-Save logins and passwords, changed to "never save" -Autofill, turned "Autofill" slider to left (off) -Sync, (I don't use sync) -Saved logins, this was empty -Exceptions, this had entries of websites where I had said no to saving passwords

the problem is that it seems to remember the email address' that I've used in the past for usernames. Not all sites that I log into use an email address as a username, but regardless, I don't want Firefox to remember the usernames. When I tap in the username field of a logon, I'm unable to type my username because it has popped up a suggestion box with an email address and the only way to type in the username is to re-tap inside the username field to get the suggestion popup to disappear. Please note that it doesn't seem to matter if it's a regularly visited website that I try to log into or if it's a website that I've never been to before.

I did the following to try and remedy the situation:

I went back to setting, login and passwords, -made sure "save logins and passwords" was set to "never save" (it was) -made sure "Autofill" was turned off (it was) -made sure "saved logins" was empty (it was) -went into "exceptions" and deleted all listed exceptions

I still had the same problem so I checked and notice that Firefox 89 was available in the google play store so I updated Firefox from 88 to 89 and I still have the same problem. I then closed Firefox and re-opened Firefox, same problem still existed. I then power cycled the Chromebook and restarted. I then opened Firefox again and I still have the same problem of Firefox suggesting email address for user names when at a website with a login. I don't know what else to do?

any idea's on how to stop Firefox from suggesting email address when I'm at a username field of a login box?

Any help would be appreciated, Thanks
