Why Am I Forced To Use Tabs?

I am running Windows Vista. After upgrading to v.38 Firefox, I am forced to use tabs when a click a link. I want to have that link open in a NEW WINDOW for a fricking tab. Why did you not provide that option in v.38?

Furthermore, when a tab opens, there is no ability to scroll down in the tab, nor control that tab window. WHY DID YOU DO THIS???

Lastly, how can I downgrade Firefox to v.37? I want my windows back!!! You are forcing me back to IE or the dreded Chrome.

Mozilla keeps telling us we need to update to Adobe Reader version 11.0.10.32. Nowhere in the Adobe site is there such a version. Have looked, have contacted, so will Mozilla PLEASE TELL US WHERE? Additionally, this is being sent from my Vista OS, and Adobe has no Version 11 for Vista. SO neither my XP PRO systems not my Vista Systems will update to the Version Mozilla shows in the Add-ons Plugin Manager pages.

I've tried repeatedly going to the forums at texags.com as I have in the past but keep getting the following message-

Server Error in '/' Application. Runtime Error Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

Other people on the forum use firefox without problems and I have done so in the past. I'm trying to switch back from Chrome but this is a huge block for me. I have checked for updates and cleared the history and cache as suggested in the FAQs. ANy advice?

I needed to register to post a question etc on the Mozilla Community forums. The fact that I have managed to post this question obviously means I have succeeded. Whilst trying to find how to register, it was not easy, I found similar questions from other users who presumably were having the same problem as I was. There appears to be no register button on the sign in page which there usually is when registering on most sites. This led to me going around in circles until I eventually followed the correct procedure. Could it be made a bit simpler. I have only recently downloaded Firefox so I am I am still finding my way around.

Hello,

I have multiple firefox profiles. I use them all. I did an update and now I cannot open profile manger unless all firefox profiles are closed.

How it used to work: I used to be able to have multiple profiles open at one time. Each time I clicked my shortcut the profile manager would open and I could choose which profile I wanted to use. That doesn't happen now unless ALL PROFILES ARE CLOSED! I want to be able to have multiple profiles open at one time. Please help.

When I click on 'Check to see if your plugins are up to date' in about:addons, https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/ opens in a new tab as expected.

Although the Plugin Check page loads, no checking happens. There's not even a small spinning circle that would at least indicate some activity.

I'm running: FF 35.0.1 Java SE 8 U31 11.31.2.13 (manually updated today and set to 'Always Activate') Shockwave Flash 16.0.0.305 (also set to 'Always Activate')

Any ideas on how to fix this would be appreciated.

I won't update because I don't like the new interface, why keep changing it?

What on earth are you thinking? We spent ages searching for malware & viruses because every time we open a new tab/window another tab opens with adverts! And we discover this is an actual firefox addition. (and "its clearly labelled as an ad" is a total lie!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

well $%^*(# you very much. Of course we are angry - what did you think would happen!

Thankfully we found a solution: about:config -> browser.newtab.url -> set it to about:blank

BUT WE SHOULDNT HAVE TO

v30 of firefox is a disgrace. My question? Why are you making us return to Internet Explorer?

i have lost my download lists over and over----you should not have "clear downloads anywhere --it is too easy to remove clear lose entire download history list-----=you should remove it from top of page next to organize----you should remove it from the right click drop down menu.....you should make it so manually remove one by one....if want to remove clear entire download history list you should make it hard to do accidentally .....

you should also make it find and highlight like it did before each download when you right click on item to ?"find in folder"

the "go to download page" no longer works at all...PLEASE RESTORE THIS FUNCTION....

what is email for mozilla itself...or phone number or email of anyone who can put the above changes in firefox....how do you leave a message on their Facebook or twitter..Mozilla impossible to contact.....

I have lost everything as the ultimate result of all this (and a really stupid local tech that wiped most of my computer.) All I want to know is how do you contact SOMEONE at Mozilla that could help me.

If there is no way to communicate with some ultimately responsibility entity then anyone who has an issue is really just hanging in the wind with NO RECOURSE!!!!! AT THE MINIMUM all users should have a way to identify LEGITIMATE techs -something I haven't found. It is also a bummer that many questions here go unanswered. I am turning completely against the idea of "user developed" applications due to this.

If that is not possible then I will have no choice but to start a VERY LARGE campaign to WARN everyone to STAY COMPLETELY AWAY from ANY and ALL software that doesn't some ultimate corporate responsibility. I don't care HOW HIGHLY Firefox is rated now

How do I post a solution to a surfvox infection on 09/28/14?

There was some chatter about surfvox from May to June as a browser hijack, it's gone way beyond that on 09/28/14. Once infected, it wouldn't let me get to self help sites… (читать ещё)

There was some chatter about surfvox from May to June as a browser hijack, it's gone way beyond that on 09/28/14. Once infected, it wouldn't let me get to self help sites to fix the problem. It would also prevent the use of system tools to clean up the problem.

I had to go back to the Vista install disc to get to a restore point. It seems to be gone now. Surfvox seems to be much nastier now than a few months ago.

I sometimes want to look at how-to videos. Some play and some do not in Firefox. When a message does come up on the screen it says someting like 'sorry, but the video will not play...do you wish to download the plugin?'. Because I am very catious about what I download, I am not confident about downloading a plugin. I tried many times and the error does not go away. Is there a fix in the works for this?

Thank you and also thank you to all that have replied to my other questions. I am new to Firefox and I find that the support answers are actually great. I prefer Firefox now over other browsers. But, as I come up against errors or uncertanties, I like the fact that I can ask questions in a simple manner...unlike other web browser support. Great job.

Adjust the location of the tabs bar

I had my tabs bar just above the page before I updated it and now can't figure out how to put them there again.

My bookmarks bar has migrated to the very top of the browser - not where I had (or want) that either!

I've a BIG space (on the browser edge) between the top of the active page and the URL

In short this is a mess - why could it not keep my settings as they where in the previous version?

I've already wasted over an hour trying to sort this - an hour I could have been doing more productive things - so yeah thanks for stealing my time as well!

As you might have guessed I'm a bit annoyed & angry at this.

If something isn't broken then DON'T fix it - it's an old adage but it holds true!
