FIREFOX 75 UPDATE: How to change internet address bar dropdown to display most visited sites?

How to change the browser.urlbar.maxRichResults in about:config to display more recently viewed websites in the drop-down list in the address bar after Firefox 75 update?… (читать ещё)

How to change the browser.urlbar.maxRichResults in about:config to display more recently viewed websites in the drop-down list in the address bar after Firefox 75 update? I only see 6 results when I had it set to about 20 before.

I have gone to browser.urlbar.openViewOnFocus and changed that setting to False thinking that would help but all that has done is eliminated the entire drop-down list altogether when the address bar is clicked.

I checked my browsing privacy options in the settings menu within Firefox and it appears everything remains exactly as before, prior to update. Maybe there is some special combo of settings and about:config options that can bring the drop-down menu back that I enjoyed so much prior to update version 75.

Any recommendations?

I used to take print to study contents offline and I almost always use Mozilla as a browser. Recently I noticed that I was unable to print a full page in a simple website. Understandable that firefox team has been busy working upon the print bugs, but the page and the website I am referring to is Purely HTML and CSS; and for some reason firefox cuts out the rest of the pages from print except for the first.(i.e) to say it prints only the top part of the page..

Though I work with Ubuntu I have crosschecked with Win8.1 and TOR version of firefox which had the same shortcoming, with the website I was referring to. However other browsers such as the Safari and Chrome seem to do fine with this regard. Kindly check for yourselves and let me know if I am going wrong somewhere. Also please Avoid recommending any add ons to accomplish the task at hand.

The thing is the website I was referring to is of very simple make and may help the team to shoot the bug if any, with an easier test case such as this.

With love and Thanks

hi, Firefox 77.0.1 (32-bit) in Windows 7 crashed completely and i had to taskkill /im firefox.exe /f

this has happened a few times before, and up to this point Firefox could always restore the last session when reopened (maybe minus any last minute pages or any pages causing errors)

this time, the browser restored many pages, some of them are pages/tabs that i had already closed days before the crash (that i do not need) and also it didn't restore tens of tabs that i had opened afterwards (that i need) the missing tabs are not tabs that i opened right before the crash, they were open for at least one or two days in other words, the session restored is an earlier/older version and not the session i was having during/near the crash

is there something i can try to restore the correct session fully? would there be another restore file i can use? thank you for your time

When I select "Show your Bookmarks (Crtl+Shift+H)" buy just clicking the icon, the main bookmark menu opens. I can move the cursor down the list. But if I try to use the scroll wheel, as soon as the wheel moves, the bookmark menu list closes (disappears).

I like the small size of this particular mouse since this is my travel laptop.

I have tried all the Logitech SetPoint software mouse option with no luck.

Is there any appropriate about:config option that would affect the bookmark menu list?

Thanks

Hello,

I recently had to switch back to my laptop and noticed that firefox is micro-stuttering (missing a couple of frame at worse) at a somewhat regular interval. Which is very noticable and head-ache inducing when watching a youtube video.

I tried to disable every plugins that I have, switching to a new profile, setting browser.sessionstore.max_tabs_undo and browser.sessionstore.max_windows_undo to 0, closing everything in the background, clearing cookies caches and etc.

Nothing worked, I noticed that disabling window's "Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling" helped. With it on I've got a very regular micro stutter (every 10 seconds) whereas with it turned off I "only" get a microstutter once every 20/30 ish seconds. Therefore I suspect some shenanigans with optimus drivers but I don't know for sure how to confirm. I tried to force firefox to use the integrated gpu with nvidia pannel but it didn't help.

I would have capture a video to show off the problem but everytime I start recording (with lenovo's nerve sense capture software) the problem totally disappears !

Anyone have any ideas about what could be happening / how to diagnose more precisely the problem ? Thanks for reading.

specs :Windows 10 (x64), Firefox 78.0.1 (x64), Intel Core i5-7300HQ, optimus GPUS : Intel HD Graphics 630 + NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 (Max-Q)

One is abstracted, clicks ok, and destroys their well set up browser for no reason at all !!!

You should rename the damn "refresh" or better completely trash it!

HI,

it's a problem that's been around for years, yet i never got an appropriate answer, so i'm asking here:

The longer i keep Firefox running, the slower my whole system gets and the slower firefox itself gets - up to a point (generally like about 10 hours or so) where everything becomes so slow, i have to manually shut down Firefox via the Task Manager. All that seems to be independent from the fact whether i actually do something in Firefox or not.

So i don't know what Firefox actually does while i'm away that kills my whole system, but i'd really like to know and i appreciate any help!!!

THX in advance

Firefox 78.0.1 does not remove closed pages from memory - lags and high RAM usage

After updating from 77 (I think it was 77.0.2?) to 78.0.1 I started noticing terrible firefox performance after a few minutes of browsing. My standard browsing habit consists of launching browser with 1 pinned tab and 1 home page (so 2 tabs only), then opening 5-10 tabs from my bookmarks, checking pages then closing them and leaving only 1 pinned page open. In firefox 78.0.1 after doing this (opening and then closing multiple tabs "to the right" using new context menu added in 78) my ram usage does not drop. It goes from 2.4GB (system only usage) to 5.0GB and does not drop after closing tabs. However when I open 10-20 tabs again RAM usage does not rise (maybe slightly, like 5.3GB). So it looks like firefox has multiple tabs stored in ram and opening new tabs just rewrites that memory instead of allocating new one. I have 8GB of ram so 3GB of usage from 1 open tab is crazy. I think it was 500-900MB before. I also have terrible lags because of this - browser hangs up every few seconds for few seconds. I had trouble writing this post with 2 tabs open because of 3.3GB ram usage! Restarting browser helps - ram uasge rises from 2.4GB to 3.2GB only (800MB for 2 tabs) but every new opened and closed tab seems to stay in memory. For example if I open 10 more tabs except for 2 that always open so I have 12 tabs I have 3.6GB memory usage. After I close them it slowly drops to 3.5GB instead of returning to 3.2GB. It does not matter how I close tabs - using right click context menu (close other tabs, close tabs to the right), using X on tabs, or using add-on to close all tabs except for pinned ones. They always remain in memory somehow. PLS fix this ASAP.

P.S. I also tried checking about:performance menu but there is nothing interesting here. It says that 2 opened tabs and addons use 100MB of memory which is not true because browser at this moment uses 1060MB.

Update 1: I also tested safe mode. 3,4GB of PC RAM usage on firefox safe mode start. Opened few tabs, ram usage goes to 4.2GB. After closing all tabs except for 1 ram usage start to SLOWLY decrease but it stops at 3,7GB. Ram usage drop was really slow like 10-30 seconds. It should be instant after closing tabs.

So up until firefox updated... yesterday? day before? not sure my circadian Rhythm is a total mess at the moment. but ever since that most recent update picture in picture doesn't pop up on netflix anymore?

i can still use it on YouTube and Prime Video, the only other sites i use it on really, but not Netflix?

as you can see, the icon appears fine on youtube, but on the netflix screenshot, it does not.

dead annoying since watching a show with picture in picture while grinding in a windowed game is a poor gamer's second screen.

Out of all the hundreds of websites I regularly visit each week, two websites flag the exact same security warning on Zone Alarm every single time I visit them, and I have never gotten this warning anywhere else at any other website. I am already aware these two websites are not to be trusted so I suspect they have engineered something to compromise the Firefox web browser. Zone Alarm pops up a warning that "Firefox is attempting to monitor user activities on this computer. If allowed it may try to track or log keystrokes (user input), mouse movements/clicks, websites visited, and other user behaviors." A screen-cap of the Zone Alarm warning is attached. I deny this action in Zone Alarm every time it happens. Let me again emphasis this happens nowhere else, only at these two sketchy websites I occasionally visit and it happens every single time I go there and my concern is that they have embedded something in their webpages compromising the Firefox web browser.

The new design of Reader View has two problems:

  1. Given that this feature is particularly important for those with eyesight problems or other disabilities, it seems like a bad move to have made the buttons smaller.
  1. The buttons used to be on the left-hand side of the window, but now they're directly to the left of the page text. This means that the pop-out controls for the Listen button now overlap the text. So if I want to be able to read the text at the same time as listening to the TTS, I have to click a second time on the Listen button to hide the pop-up. Then I have to click on it for a third time if I want to stop the TTS.

I asked friends to check the site’s performance - everything works fine for them.
