Why doesn't the import bookmarks function work in firefox? I've tried importing my bookmarks via an html file and directly from other browsers. It doesn't work. The page doesn't move; It just remains blank. I would be very grateful for any help.

My goal here is to move all bookmarks into a Favorites folder the easiest way possible without losing any of them for organizing. If a thread/article already exists about this please point me over there. All help is appreciated.

I open my bookmarks and select all of them, the count is over 35,000. I export them and import them into IE, the count is 1,500. (also happens using Edge) Where are the rest?

I'm guessing the FF count is accurate but not sure where the loss is occurring - FF or IE.

On a related note, Recently Bookmarked only shows 10 at a time. I move those and 10 more show up, and so on.

So I am trying to transfer my Firefox 53 bookmarks from one PC (Windows 10) to another (Ubuntu 17.04) via the "json" Filetype. The first problem was that the Restoring from file always produced a error message of a script not working (disabling addons/plugins, aswell as giving the script more time by changing the config value from 10 to 20 did not help), I clicked "continue" and it seemed to finish correctly.

To check whether the Transfer was corrupted by the script error, I made a backup file (again .json) of the new installation.

Problem: The original Backup File was 2,5MB big, the "test-backup" is 2,4MB big!!!

I thought maybe Ubuntu is the problem, so I made a fresh installation of Windows 10+Firefox on another partition. With this Win10 installation i had no script-error during bookmarks-installation.

BUT: A test-backup of this third installation was only 2,3MB big!

So my bookmark backups keep getting smaller eventhough they should have identical contents!

Where is the fault?

I have a bookmark file that I have exported to an HTML. I am using Firefox 31.4.0 in Linux and I would like to know how I can import the bookmark from the command line. I would not like to use the mouse & pointer to do this as I have to automate creating/placing bookmarks for a kickstart installation of linux

Browser - Firefox (Dev Edition) 43.0a2 Problem - Importing bookmarks from a HTML file Details - Trying to import bookmarks from a HTML file (size - 19.0 MB). After selecting the file the browser freezes and displays a message that the script is unresponsive displaying options - Continue, Debug script, Stop script. Even after trying all the options the browser is not able to import the bookmarks.

bought Win10 desktop. CARBONITE downloaded about 13GB of stuff, including "FAVORITES"

list is sitting on c/users/xxxxx/favorites

can't figure out how to get them on to firefox

firefox found favorites that i have not seen or used in years... old computer is sony viao running windows vista...i used internet explorer and google chrome at times.... i installed firefox on a new asus computer running windows 8.... the bookmarks must have been stored somewhere in the cloud on microsoft or google i suppose.... i did not manually add them...... they just showed up when i started using firefox.. freaks me out.....where did they come from??????

I keep trying to import my bookmarks from my old Windows 7 Professional PC (64-bit). I get script errors and the process never completes. I have been able to do this in the past and saved the file on my NAS drive that communicates with the new PC perfectly. How can I remedy this?

I have downloaded Firefox 35.0.1 for MAC running OSX 10.9.5 Mavericks.

Every time I try to import bookmarks it just freezes Firefox. Tried the feature to import from another browser (Safari and Chrome) as well as importing from a saved HTML file. None work.

I get an error message pop up telling me that Firefox is trying to run a script that is non-responsive. I have to force quit the application.

My machine is clean. I just had the Apple store re-format the entire drive and load OSX Mavericks fresh as a mew machine instal, so there is definitely no junk on my machine that should be causing the problem.

Bookmark imports have always worked easily and without a problem before.

Can anyone help please?

hello, on firefox 32.0.3 bookmarks synchronisation erase recent tags, labels and description during the sync. this happen on already sync bookmarks on which we add some tags, labels and description, but not on new ones. no error message when logging or unlogging. thanks in advance best regards
