When Firefox updates, it's an extremely frustrating experience. Enough so that I'm about ready to switch over to Chrome (I already use it for work). Every single time, websites suddenly can't load and all my extensions stop working. It's happening now! I'm writing this from Chrome.

I'm frankly not sure when or why websites start loading again, but it seems to take about a day for things to get back to normal. I've tried closing and reopening Firefox, but that doesn't seem to do anything. It just takes time. I have a 2017 MacBook, OS Catalina 10.15.3.

Is this a known issue? I see all kinds of possible solutions when I try and look for some myself, but oftentimes the OP says they didn't work and then people offer other solutions. I'm wondering why this seems to happen, and if there's a suggestion for how to fix it once and for all—I've never had this problem with Chrome.

When I navigate to www.pcmag.com on my Surface Book 2. FF will hang or crash. I do not have this problem with other browsers on my laptop. Is this a known bug or do I need to update something.

I am running the latest FF version with default settings, the only add-on is BitWarden.

After starting Firefox, Sync starts and gets stuck on "Syncing" till I restart. Ever page shows as bookmarked for a while and then they all turn into not bookmarked. Backups won't be saved. Changes to bookmarks and adding new ones won't work either. Have tried a new profile, deleting xulstore.json and places.sqlite and have also tried safe-mode and all of them together. The sync is still in a loop. I have about 56000 bookmarks(I know that's a lot!) but it didn't use to take more than a few seconds. And not being able to see the last sync time by hovering really sucks as well btw.

Thought problem was just on MyPoints when viewing videos but occurred yesterday at InBoxDollas while playing a game.

• • 9/15 - Attached is one of the video screens with the website slowing...... In this group Postables - almost all had this come up. Sometimes just froze there & when I refreshed screen this ... website slowing.... came up & I had to StopIt for video to continue. {Often the screen would be Black as attached shows, sometimes black with an x in the middle so I refreshed}**

Last night I deleted History (except for personal.). Opened MyPoints this morning & went to Postables where half or more of the videos had this popup line stating Website slowing...... & I had to keep clicking on StopIt. I went to the video in image I added but the 2nd from there had this popup - slowing website.... So I guess deleting history helped some perhaps - but is still there. {Searched last night & all the ideas/thoughts listed to stop this went back to 2016. Before deleting History, I went to registry & searched for Firefox Pioneer and also Shockware - None were found.

There is a delay sometimes when I type in the address bar. It only happens when using the address bar, when I use search bars in websites or type in Google Docs there is no delay. I tried opening Firefox on Safe Mode, but the problem persisted. I also tried resetting the all browser.urlbar preferences that I had modified to default, but it still lags.

For one of the client we are experiencing slow browsing issue with Firefox (Firefox 60.7.2esr) .We tried without any customization but it has the same slow browsing experience. However there is one observation though if we use explicit ip address instead .pac in proxy then browsing speed is fine. Our proxy team hasn’t found anything abnormal with proxy configuration and pac file size is also small in kbs.

In the last couple days Gmail has slowed to a crawl. It won't load, and barely does, and once it does I try to click on an email loads super slow and trying to type in a reply in one existent, had to switch over to google chrome to do my emails. What is going on? I have a new modem from ATT also. I cleared cache and cookies, restarted computer and still slow to a crawl

after updating to the last version, every time i close tabs and quit Firefox normally, cash reporter comes. But in fact the Firefox didn't crash i just closed it normally.

I am using Windows 10 64-bit. I have Firefox version 66.0.1

Everytime I open Firefox, after about 20-30 seconds, the application hangs. I get the "Not Responding" message in the menu bar, and the cursor pointer changes to a spinning blue circle.

The application hangs usually for up to 2 mins before returning to normal. It then always works perfectly for the rest of the browsing session. I've tried closing in Task Manager and relaunching, but the same thing happens.

Has anyone solved this issue?

This happens while browsing different pages and doesn't seem related to a single web page, around 10 tabs open none using much resources. Computer CPU usage and ram usage are at under 50%.

I only have a single extension, lastpass, which i disabled and still get the same results.

Mozilla is faster than google chrome and whenever i use to browse website mozilla works faster. However i have a website https://bloggerwalk.com which works slows on mozilla as compared to google chrome. Is this a browser issue or my website issue.

Despite downloading and installing several "fixes" to the slow running of Firefox I can't believe that it is running so slowly.

Firefox is painfully slow, so much so that 8 times out of ten the page times out and fails to load.

This is completely unacceptable. Firefox has been my browser of choice for about 15 years, but unless Mozilla finds a PROPER fix to this issue I will be changing my default browser to Chrome.

Does anyone have a solution to this?

My OS is Windows 10.

Hello, I recently moved to Firefox from another browser and I am very pleased with it. My usage is that my computer remains on 24/7 with the browser open. I saw a paragraph in the help docs:

"Firefox's memory usage may increase if it's left open for long periods of time. A workaround for this is to periodically restart Firefox."

However this can be inconvenient when you have several tabs open that are logged in to various sites for work, which also retain state which is not restored when the browser is restarted.

Over a few days the memory "leaking" (?) is mounting up significantly as per attached. In summary:

Pre close - system RAM usage 12.5GB Post close browser - system RAM usage 8.1GB (4.4GB drop!!) Re-open browser with same tabs - system RAM usage 8.7GB (actually 9.0GB after all tab views were accessed and put back into the state they were in before closed)

From this simple test I can see that 12.5GB - 9GB = 3.5GB was hogged by the browser and not actually required.

As a developer I am interested to understand the reason for this memory leaking. Is there anything I can do while the browser is open to free it up? Or cause it to not "leak" in the first place?

I first noticed this in Overwatch (OW) but also with Diablo 3. These are the only games I play online. OW has a inbuilt tool to look at it's network connection. It shows that about every 5 secs, ping spikes. There might be other stuff happening, like some loss, but I can't say for sure. This translates into choppy gameplay which is unbearable for online FPS. If you look at the attached image, you see that the spikes go to 128 ms. I normally run 44 ms.

This symptom does not start immediately and I haven't been able to check how long it takes to start. It does go away if I close firefox down.

I tried to: - remove all addons - close tabs until only home/empty tab was left - removing/reinstalling firefox.

Nothing really worked.

I am running the latest version of Windows 10 (1803) with the latest version of Firefox 63.0.3. All 64bit.

My computer constantly gets bogged down by Firefox's voracious appetite for RAM! I am constantly clearing my cache & using memory cleaner to bump up my available memory, but with FF using over TEN GIGS OF RAM, at some point there's nothing else to do but reboot FF, and try again. WHY is it using up so much memory???

Whenever I am using Fire Fox after about 20-30 minutes the menus (even the main menu icon), function pop-ups (e.g. click on the print icon to get the print pop-up asking number of copies, click on a download icon to get the pop-up asking destination), etc. stop working. This happens all the time independent of what site(s)/tab(s) I have open at the time. Tabs still work (a new tab will open). Sometimes I am actively using Fire Fox at the time, other times it is open but not my active window (in this scenario when I return to make it the active window again I find that the problem has occurred). Once in a while it will try to open something that generates an error message (NS_ERROR_FAILURE):

JS frame … contentCache … js::ObjLayerActionGoToNewWindow::line 7 data:no

In this case it was trying to open a survey window at the end of a course I had just completed. Most of the time I don't see an error message - just an audible ding and nothing happens.

When this problem occurs I have to completely restart Fire Fox to clear the problem - for another 20 minutes.

I've tried clearing the browsing history, turning off hardware acceleration, making sure pop-ups are enabled, and installing the latest version of Fire Fox (63.0.1). I'm not sure what else to try.

My laptop is Windows 10. According to Fire Fox these are the installed plug ins: OpenH264 Video Codec provided by Cisco Systems, Inc. Widevine Content Decryption Module provided by Google Inc. Shockwave Flash

Firefox is very slow connecting to web pages. Everytime I click a link there is a 5-10s loading time (wheel spinning) before the web page starts to load. Once it starts, the page loads very quickly and runs normally. I'm not seeing this issue on internet explorer or chrome. I am on Win10 Enterprise.

I don't recall having this issue on the first install, I think it started in the last month. I tried reinstalling firefox and disabling all add-ins.

Any thoughts on a solution? I love Firefox but I've been forced to switch to Chrome until I resolve this issue :(

Immediatly after upgrading FF to Quantum every click has a 3 to 10 seconds delay until a site finally starts loading. Since I am "working" in the web, that way FF is completly useless. Is there anyone else out there having the same problem? Or someone who had and got it solved?

As Quantum is advertising performance and visual improvements for Windows users, like: "Moved the build infrastructure of Firefox on Windows to the Clang toolchain, bringing important performance gains", I can smell the smoke, where my performance problems could result from..

Unbelievable, but I had to install Chrome in the meantime to be able to work on.

I have a pervasive problem where downloads of moderately sized files (> 100MB) are very slow in Firefox but fast in Chrome. When I begin downloads the speed is fine at around 4MB/s but it quickly drops down to < 200Kb/s. This happens across multiple websites and when on different WiFi networks. However when I attempt to download these same files using Google Chrome they maintain the initial 4MB/s download speed for the entire duration. I have already tried running Firefox in safe mode and resetting it using the "Refresh Firefox" help page. I am running Ubuntu 18.04.
