Last night Firefox insisted that it be updated and so I allowed the update on my somewhat antiquated laptop. It's the laptop that my wife uses and because she's far from tech-friendly, things need to be simple and basic. She didn't want to update it because everything was fine for the limited browsing that she uses the laptop for but for the sake of doing as we're told, we let it happen.

When the laptop restarted and we went to open Firefox, a damned User Profile Box appeared - one that's got me scratching my head and cursing. What the hell is it? Choose User Profile Then inside the box; Create Profile Rename Profile Delete Profile She doesn't have a 'profile' - what the hell is it anyway? Why should we make this change - what's it in aid of?

Whatever, we opted to click on Rename Profile and found that the existing profile was 'User', so I renamed it with her name - and then started Firefox. A blank Firefox page appeared - with no favourites; no log-ins; no records - NOTHING. Preferences? NONE. What on earth has happened? She had a selection of physiotherapy exercises in her favourites - WHERE THE HELL ARE THEY? THEY WERE VITAL FOR HER HEALTH AND NOW THEY'RE GONE. Just what the hell is going on? Why do we need to go through all this - where have all her records gone?

Ok - I searched the internet for an answer. I then found a similar case from back in 2015 - and the member (because it was on this forum) came to the conclusion that it was best to use Chrome instead - and I reckon that's what my wife will have to do. If this change can't be undone and if her saved information can't be accessed (and EASILY - not via a string of convoluted instructions that neither she nor I will understand) then you've just lost another customer. Answers please - and simple ones, not a long guide through the mess that's inside Firefox.

I downloaded a file from my scanner and when I tried to e-mail it to someone, I am told that it does not exist, even though I can open it in Adobe and pdf. How can I download to something that can be e-mailed?

I am a Javascript Developer and I need a bit of help. This is my first time in a very long time contacting technical support. Please bare with me as I explain my situation. I recommend that someone that is familiar with Javascript and the browser console help test this issue.

I try to create a function in the browser console on a very blank html file. I created a function using the following code "const $ = $ => $". When I called the function with the following code "$('test')" I would get a return of "null". What is expected to return is "test". I have tested other browsers and it would seem to work perfectly fine. These browsers include: Edge, Chrome, Epiphany. I have also tried creating a function like so "const a = a => a". Then I called the function like this "a('test')". The result would be "test".

I had also asked a developer friend of mine to test this out and nothing is wrong on his end. I cannot recall what machine my friend runs but I know it does not run Linux. I wouldn't know well enough but my suspicions lie with the Linux version of Firefox. I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox from my computer the results seem to remain the same.

I will attach images for a visual of the situation. I will also leave some specs that might be of concern down below.

I'm using Firefox 86.0 on an Apple Silicon Mac mini (16 GB/2TB) with macOS 11.2. Several times a day when I return to the browser, it will have become completely unresponsive to clicks and or typing. In this state, I can't click on web pages, or controls in the tab bar. However, the app is not beach-balling. I can quit by right clicking on the dock icon and choosing quit from the menu (I don't have to force quit). Relaunching fixes things. Also, if I have, for example, clicked on the "new tab" button in the tab bar, once I've quit and launched again, the new tab will be in the window, indicating that the command was processed, but the result was not visible. Sometimes, but not always, when in this state the page display looks like it has been scaled to about 50%. (As if I'd hit "Zoom out" five times). One clue that may relate to this is, I'm running in scaled mode on the monitor (The monitor is capable of 3840x2160, but I'm scaling things in the Display control panel to 2560x1440.) Apps are running in Retina mode. I have tried running Firefox in Safe mode, but that didn't help. I have a lot of tabs that I don't want to lose, so running in a fresh user profile is kind of difficult, unless there's a simple way to transfer open tabs between profiles.

I tried to buy a new version for this desktop, however it refuses to work as well, the error code says I need IE6, I have never used internet explorer, but now it says it is required. What has MS done now? I have a laptop running windows 10 as well. I installed quick books 2009 pro on the laptop and every thing works fine. So is the problem with windows 10, or Firefox? All this seemed to have taken place after a recent windows 10 update. The computer was running extremely slow. Anyone else having similar problems?

So, I accidentally clicked a link that takes me to a site I have never logged into. Firefox prompts me with 3 userids. One is more or less a throwaway, but two are for sites I want to be secure.

I have disabled the form history in options. I have selected each item and tried either delete or shift-delete. None of these options work.

The site continues to present me with 3 userid options.

I hope this is not a major security threat since I am the only user on this computer and the site is one I have never visited, but it worries me nonetheless that I cannot remove the Firefox suggestions.

When I open Firefox on macOS, it immediately goes to the minimized mode in and I am not able to use it. I have tried to uninstall it completely and remove all related files and reinstall different versions but I still see the issue. Any thoughts?

How do I change, or is there a way to stop the browser from going back a page when i press delete too many times on a box or I haven't managed to click where I thought I had?

Firefox update (about 4 weeks ago?) resulted in losing access to various accounts eg: bank, health care provider. Forced to use Chrome (blech!) Websites now state that I'm using an "unsupported browser". Have contacted host sites and they are unresponsive and/or unable to provide solution. Can still access bank etc from Android phone but forced to use other browsers from MacBook Pro.

I refreshed Firefox because I found it was running slow, and now my saved logins and passwords are not in my settings anymore.

They are still on my phone but they won't sync now to my iMac desktop.

Is there a way to restore them or resync!

Hello,I have Windows XP 32 bit with service pack 3 and Firefox 52.9.1 ESR browser. Now that adobe flash player is history I can't play videos online that are not on youtube. I can still watch youtube videos.

Is there a HTML5 video player or something else I can install on this old system that will work or is that not possible? I know it's an old system but it still does the job.

I get the SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER on some websites like google and youtube. I can't go past it and it is super anoying. I tried setting the security.enterprise to true but that makes my browser super slow so that is not an option. How can I get rid of this?

I just got the startup screen about the 'Cinderella' button and followed the instructions. It implies I can have multiple Youtube screens open at the same time in little Windows. However I can only have 1 open at a time. When I go to a second YT video, that second video does not have a Cinderella button.

Read the posts on this issue suggest right click text area submenu language, where is this sub menu as I don't see one when right clicking anywhere. Also working very very slowly when inputing text on facebook.

I have been able to access my sbcglobal.net email up until to day.

• Today, I got to https://currently.att.yahoo.com/ as usual.
• I select "sign in"
• I select my account
• The account tries to load until I get this message:

   An error occurred while processing your request.
   Reference #97.4f397c68.1616602006.71f9255 

• I have tried adjusting protections to no avail
• I can sign in using another browser, but NEVER with FireFox.

Any suggestions? Otherwise, I think that I may need to dump FireFox.  :-(

I am receiving too often the message "A Page is Slowing Down Your Browser, What Would You Like To Do?" It becomes annoying. I tried the same site with Edge and it responded faster. What can I do other than switch browsers?

The bookmarks toolbar isn't showing any bookmarks. I searched for help documents and did everything I was instructed to do but the icons are still not showing. If I attempt to right click the toolbar, it doesn't recognize and doesn't give me a pop up menu to choose from. I'm baffled.
