I followed this post to add your own background to the Firefox homepage from a year ago to a T (reading all the posts to not miss anything) but I cant seem to make it work. I'm wondering if this either doesn't work anymore, or I passed over something very minor somehow. I made sure to edit the URL to match my own and my picture name, I made a userChrome.css, I'm not too sure what to do. I'll have to look over it again later.

Hi. Is there a way to create a shortcut-key toggle to make the PDF Viewer toolbar appear and disappear? I've implemented the CSS code for removing the toolbar altogether, but some key features require the toolbar. Hope there's a way to get this done. Thanks a lot!

When I'm hovering the mouse over a link, a URL status bar appears at the bottom of the window. Is there any way to change the background and text color of that URL status bar? I'm attaching an image showing what is that status bar.

As there is no way to customize FF shortcuts, How to Disable them all together? In any way: editing settings, browser internal files, whatever. No, it's not about addon shortcuts. Yes, i already checked smt like a hundred topics/adviced addons web-search could provide, and none works.

Hi, I cannot really put a label on the issue, therefore I just decribe it.

When Firefox closes unexpectedly, like powering off my Computer and not closing Firefox, after reboot all my tabs are restored. I do not want this to happen. Is there an option to disable it ?

I've noticed since FF has a built-in adblocker certain sites say I need to disable it to be able to submit a question, how do I do this? I'm using version 84.0.1 on 64-bit Windows Home (and made an exception for the site but I still get the error message). Thanks in advance.

When I enable reader mode there is a small floating toolbar I find distracting. I would like to turn it off.

When I used CONTROL + SHIFT + B it opens the bookmarks window, when the documentation says it should toggle the visibility of the bookmarks boolbar. I'm on 83.0 64-bit on Win10. I've also got FF Dev Edn (84.0b8 64-bit) and this shortcut works fine. I've tried refreshing Firefox profile/settings from the Help/Troubleshooting menu. Anything else I can try to get this working?

I recently reinstalled Firefox (84.0, 64-bit) and I found that the Top Sites weren't populating. They also couldn't be made to hold a site with the editing tool on each square, and nothing will bookmark.

I found a previous question about this from years ago, which was solved when the questioner verified that the History wasn't being created--it was blank--and the person answering the question said something about removing the "places.sqlite database file", which would then prompt Firefox to create a new file by that name, and track history and populate the Top Sites. An article was mentioned in that solution to help walk through the process, but I didn't see any link or reference to what that article was.

That exact same issue seems to be happening for me--my Top Sites won't load, won't be made to save anything, and I have no History despite the reinstall happening a couple of days ago--and this sounds like the solution may work for me as well but I've no idea where to find it or how to execute the recommended procedure.

Would anyone know where to find that article, or if there's an updated method to tackle the issue?

Related: I have Firefox on my phone and on another computer in the house, and I'd thought they would all sync up to share the same bookmarks, etc., but that hasn't happened. Is this connected to the same issue? Meaning, once the History/Top Sites/bookmark issue is resolved, will doing a Sync actually get my Firefoxes all talking together and sharing the same bookmarks?

Hello Mozilla Support, please advise on how to permanently disable the "expanding/enlarging" URL bar that continues to be featured with each new browser update. From previous experience, I have uninstalled/reinstalled and attempted to change the following advanced settings as seen on other threads:

Method 1: 1. about:config 2. browser.urlbar.openViewOnFocus = FALSE 3. browser.urlbar.update1 = FALSE 4. browser.urlbar.update1.interventions = FALSE 5. browser.urlbar.update1.searchTips = FALSE

Method 2: 1. about:config 2. browser.urlbar.disableExtendForTests = TRUE 3. browser.urlbar.maxRichResults = 0

Neither of these methods currently seem to work and even when they have worked in the past, why does Mozilla continue to enable this feature with each new update without a simple option to disable when so many users have requested instructions on how to shut off? What is the purpose of the expanding URL bar? What does an enlarged URL bar do to benefit the search experience? Is there another reason why Mozilla keeps this feature going for every new update? It often becomes time consuming to search and figure out what the new procedure is to keep disabling, every single time an update occurs.

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to ask this nor am I sure that this isn't just one of my many installed extensions being wonky -- but is there a way to keep the volume meter at the same level across tabs? More specifically, I peruse the old.reddit.com/r/livestreamfail website and I open each thread in a new tab with the option to block the audio and video from autoplaying enabled and the volume meter is always set at 0% on every embedded clip. I wish the behavior of the video player to leave the volume slider at the percentage from the last time I manipulated the volume slider from a previous clip, that way I don't need to touch the volume slider whenever I start playing the new video. Is this the behavior of the twitch video player or is there a config setting I can change to achieve the desired behavior? Shouldn't blocking video inherently block audio too? Why does autoplay option always set the volume to 0%?

My firefox extensions include: Facebook Container, GNOME Shell integration, Reddit Enhancement Suite, SponsorBlock for Youtube, uBlock Origin and Weather

When opening a new tab FF is opening Duck Duck Go after DDG has been removed. I have deleted and reinstalled FF several times, I have cleaned the cache.

I have set the homepage to https://startpage.com (SP,) I have removed the extension Duck Duck Go (DDG.) When starting FF it opens SP, but when I click on the new tab (+) it opens DDG. The trouble-shooting information below says that DDG is Enabled, but I have removed it and the extension is not listed in the Add-Ons manager.

I have set FF > Preferences > Home > ...New Windows and Tabs > Homepage and New Windows > Custom URLs... > https://startpage.com/ ...New Tabs > Firefox Home (Default)

Why is FF reverting to DDG? Where is DDG coming from? Can I stop/disable DDG from appearing?

I use the Bookmarks Bar extensively. But all the folders are the same color. I would find it much easier to find things quickly if I could change individual folder colors.

Any way to do this?

I'm already using Jscher's excellent UserChrome script to make the folders an attractive yellow, instead of gray. But can this be done for individual foders?

I am aware of the "Multi-Account Containers" and also know how they works. However, I found a add-on by Firefox named "Firefox Multi-Account Containers". Even if I don't install this add-on I can still use the container feature (Note: I have only installed Facebook container). So, is it necessary to install this "Firefox Multi-Account Containers"? Tough I didn't see much difference before & after installing this add-on. So, is this add-on now built-in? Or what will I get extra for installing this add-on?

I was hoping to re-order the extension icons in my menu bar but it seems like that can't be done (akin to how open tabs can just be re-ordered), so I figured the best thing to do was to remove them and re-populate the menu bar with them in the desired order.

So I didn't uninstall them, but removed them from the menu bar, thinking I could then just put them back in the order I'd like, but I'm not seeing any way to re-insert their icons/shortcuts into the menu bar. Even once they're completely uninstalled and re-installed, they no longer seem to go into the menu bar as per usual, as if they've been earmarked as not belonging there regardless of a whole new re-install.

In brief: Is there any way to get the icon/shortcut for installed extensions back into the menu bar once they've been removed from there?

So I'm loving containers. They're great. However, I wish for some of my add-ons to only be on some containers. For example, I don't mind the Honey or Amazon Shopping add-on in my Shopping Container. But I would prefer them not to be in my banking container. In reality I'd like my banking container to have almost no add-ons.

Is there a way to set add-on to container affinity?
