When I log into another profile firefox will not open or run. This is on a Vista system.

I only want multiple tabs to open on my homepage when starting Firefox-- I'm sure it's easy, I just can't recall how and cannot find an answer!

Hello. to start with im not really up on the ins and outs of ff, ive used it for a while but not really tinkered with till this problem

Im running Vista (no comments on that please :p) and the latest version of as downloaded from the mozilla website (3.6 something)

my plug-ins are (version number): 2007 MS Office system (12.0.4518.1014), Bio3D (12.0.0.733) - this comes with ChemDraw i think, ChemDraw (12.0.0.733), getPlusPlus for Adobe 16287 (1.6.2.87), Java Deployment Toolkit (6.0.210.6), Java(TM) Platform SE 6 U21 (6.0.210.6), MS Office Live Plug-in for FF (2.0.4024.1), MS (R) WMP FF plug-in (1.0.0.8), Mozilla Default Plug-in (1.0.0.15), Novell iPrint Plug-in (5.3.0.0), Novell iPrint Scriptable Plug-in 1.0 (5.3.0.0), Quicktime P-in (7.6.6.0), Shockwave Flash (10.1.53.64), Silverlight P-in (4.0.50524.0), Windows Presentation Foundation (3.5.30729.1). Ive been on numerous fix-it sites but cant find a solution i understand or can get to work. the problem still occurs in safe mode and with only shockwave flash enabled (this seems to be the issue) and after numerous reinstalls, i have also deleted all i can find of adobe and shockwave then reinstalled to no avail :(

When I open a new tab, I want the new tab to display the same home page as my main. All I get is a blank screen when I select a new tab. How do I make the new automatically default to my main homepage?

Sorry about this! 2 persistent problems with Firefox 3 make it impossible for me to go on using what was my favourite browser. Both have so many different manifestations that it won't help if I give very precise details. ALL Firefox forums report the same things, just slightly different.

1) All goes well until Firefox starts using 25-40% CPU capacity and stutters to a halt. Only solution - shut down and restart. OK if once a day - but it happens every other session now.

2) Autocomplete works fine for a time (usernames, passwords &c), then just stops. Solution - restart Firefox. So many variations on this in the usual forums - my own problem is relatively minor - at least it works to begin with. And of course I have the Google bar add-on - it's far too useful to do without.

My reason for posting this unhelpful "question" - there is almost bound to be an underlying reason for these Firefox V3 problems - too many people have reported too many similar but not identical cases. None of the proposed hacks (about:config hacks, deleting certain files &c) makes any difference.

My suggestion - concentrate on fixing these problems before making any more releases or enhancements - focus all the brilliant intellectual power of your best developers on them. It's absurd that such an amazing project should start to founder because of basic problems like these. It's almost as bad as the Windows 7 F5 problem (when your folder window isn't updated to reflect changes until you press F5).

This is really a minor issue, and I think it might just end up being a new feature that needs to be added to the next version of Firefox. But my problem is, oftentimes, I'm browsing my history library looking for sites that I looked for maybe 2 or 3 weeks ago. I scroll down quite a ways, eventually find what I'm looking for, and then click on the site to open it. The problem I have, which is really merely an annoyance, is that when I click on one page, my library immediately exits out of whatever time frame I'm currently in and sets the time frame to "Today" and highlights the most recent site I've visited, which of course, is the one I just clicked on. The reason this is annoying is that when I'm browsing my history, there are usually 3 or 4 or more sites that I want to re-visit, usually all from around the same time frame. It becomes very tiresome to have to re-click on the correct month or week, and scroll, scroll, scroll, once again, each time I want to re-visit a site, because every time I click on a site it re-sends me to "Today." I wish there was someway to change my history settings so that it wouldn't do this and that, regardless of whatever websites I decide to visit, my history library always stays in the place where I last left it. I hope someone is able to understand what I'm trying to say. Thanks for any help you can provide and don't hesitate to ask for clarification!

I just updated to Firefox 3.6.8

In 3.6.4, when I opened a new tab by clicking on a link, the tab would open to the far right of the tab bar. Now it opens a new tab directly to the tab I currently have open.

Is there an option where I can change this back to when it opened the new tab to the far right?

Whenever I go to a forum; I scroll down to look at posts however the screen suddenly fuzzes up and goes a bit black meaning I can't see what to click or anything, when I move my mouse over a bit of the blackness the buttons that are supposed to be there come back, I keep repeating this (Have no choice) but it's getting annoying. I try highlighting it but that makes it go fully black straight after.

Somehow I can no longer see my bookmarks on the left side of my window. Also some of the icons at the top of my window are gone and I can't move them on the toolbar. Please help fix.

Using Firefox I sign in OK for my e-mail. Now it tells me my mailbox is empty and has told me this for several days. Where did my previous messages go that I had saved and am unable to retrieve?? Why are there no new messages going into my box including those pesky junk mails? I have not changed any security settings or made any other changes. Help. Thanks

When typing in the "What's Happening?" field on Twitter, my Netbook (Intel Atom n450) cpu goes straight up to max frequency and heavy utilization and stays pegged there until, apparently, the whole SoC (System on Chip) crashes and screen flashes white. Also there is heavy lag as I enter characters faster than they get displayed. I installed Opera web-browser on my Netbook and typing on Twitter is just like typing in Notepad with Opera. I'm guessing that something about the way that Firefox processes the javascript of Twitter in regard to character counting/scanning etc. is causing unnecessarily extreme cpu load.

How do I keep spaces from erasing letters if I use the space bar before the letter? Before, using the space bar in front of an already typed letter did not erase the letter, but now it does, for some reason. It is annoying, and I'm not used to it.

Despite forums galore and answers galore, the continuing Flash Plugin is still crashing. This happens on Safari, Chrome and IE as well as Firefox. It's obviously an Adobe issue but no one is addressing that. Considering the major consternation over the web, can we (the world) have a resolution please!
