I initially moved to the ESR release in February due to issues with my corporate PC running Trend Micro Officescan which crashed the regular release firefox at that time. I received an update to the latest ESR release 52.2 this week which appears to cause the same issue. I have had to roll back to 45.7 which was my last working version. Any other experiences or insight? Am I stuck on this version as long as my PC is running Officescan?

FF 52.3.0 is very unstable. My OS is Windows XP SP3 which is very stable. FF has never crashed this much before. I always submit the crash report. Last version 52.2.1 never crashed. How do I roll back to 52.1.1?

After the last firefox update I have been getting popups and popups are disabled. I also am getting new windows opening up all the time. Mostly MapsScout stuff but all the time.

I have ran multiple virus and spybot scans. I have cleared cache and all history and such also. Something is very wrong. And things changed after last update.

52.3.0esr or newer builds will not open on Windows 2012r2 with terminal services and citrix xenapp

if I delete the user profiles.ini file it will run, but only once. no crash files are created, but window event logs are.

45.9.0esr works with no issues.

Hello. We have problem win Java and Firefox ESR 52.X my current configuration is: Windows 8.1 (64Bits) Firefox ESR 52.4.1 Java 7.80

I have tried different versions of firefox ESR52.2, 52.3, 52.4 and different JAVA 7.80, 7.25, 8.x but I always have the same message when I try to access a SAN Brocade Switch GUI.

the java is installed and shown in the plugins, in other pages it is activated java normally.

When I go back to Firefox ESR 45.9 with any java version I did not have this problem.

I am running an IBM ThinkPad 31P with Windows XP Pro. On 11/18/17 my computer updated Firefox automatically to 52.5.0 ESR even though I have it set to ask first. Within minutes of the update my CPU usage spiked to 100% with no programs open. Windows Task Manager showed svchost.exe to be at 98%. This same thing has happened with every major Firefox update and issue has not gone away until Firefox issued an update to resolve instability issues. This time I exchanged hard drives to my "back-up clone" and immediately started removing Firefox program. However, I neglected to disable my wireless card and almost immediately I got a "Firefox Updating" message on the screen. I immediately killed the computer, removed the wireless card, rebooted it but damage had already been done and CPU usage spiked to 100%. Using software removal tool gave message that Firefox had already been removed. However, I was able to locate the new program in my Temp Download file and manually remove it. This did not resolve the problem. svchost.exe CPU use spikes to 98% or higher by the time computer has booted up, with no programs open and internet access deactivated. Have attempted to use my "Autoruns" program to troubleshoot and determine the cause but am not proficient enough. Am at the point now of planning to reformat a 3rd hard drive with Acronis clone from my stand-alone backup hard drive, which has not been connected during any of this, then removing Firefox permanently and switching to Opera. Any thoughts on what might be causing this problem? Thanks!!!

Firefox and my I.E. 11 Browsers are both very slow most of the time & getting slower. Firefox is very slow to open, hangs, won't respond for a few seconds, etc. I also see a message at times, right above address bar that reads "Mozilla Firefox (not responding)". I have done a refresh of Firefox, started in safe mode, etc. with no increase in performance. I've also cleaned the S.S.D. (solid state drive) (disk cleanup). Please help!

Hi, my installation of Firefox 52.4.1 ESR is crashing reproducibly when I'm not using Safe Mode on certain sites, like Google Maps and Reddit.

I have created a completely new profile without add-ons and themes, and disabled hardware acceleration. Firefox still crashes on these sites. Only starting Firefox in Safe Mode solves the problem.

The problem only occurs on my tower PC which has a NVIDIA GPU, and not on my Thinkpad. Both are running the exact same Firefox version on Arch Linux with identical add-ons and user profiles. So it may be problem with video acceleration, but as I stated, I disabled HW acceleration. Btw. the problem doesn't occur with Firefox Quantum which I don't want to use until the most important add-ons are ported.

Anybody got an idea?

Have two Dell desktop computers with same amount of memory. Both running Windows XP Pro and same version of Firefox. Both have the same Firefox options set up. Both are on the same network connected by LAN. One computer started being incredibly slow to open Google home page. Refreshing Firefox always gets it back to normal but after a day - or two at the most - it goes very slow again. Opening any website takes between 30 and 60 seconds. This delay repeats if the browser is closed. When the browser is open, moving between websites - or opening different websites in a new tab, they load quickly. Have tried with and without private browsing - makes no difference. The only thing I've changed on the computer giving problems is to add a gigabit network card. Disabling it and uninstalling it made no difference. Adobe flash needs updating today but was up to date during this problem. Can't think what else to try.

i have been given task to change config for Mozilla ESR users in our company. I'm trying to change the value "security.enterprise_roots.enabled" which is disabled by default in update channel "esr". Is it safe to push (mass copy) new file "channel-prefs.js" with modified preference or there is another way?

I install the version Mozilla FireFox ESR 52.4.0 and tried to click help-> update option but its not updated . Its showing update failed and also some machine its showing firerfox is up to date.

Currently Firefox release higher version but the version which we have ( ESR 52.4.0) is not updating to highr version.

Can you please provide the solution.

Recently, despite making no changes to Mozilla Firefox software, I lost the ability to use email links on websites. It is not website-specific and I can still send emails through AOL Mail. What could have caused this and how do I fix it?

However, none addressed the problems I encountered after the recent update to 52.6.0 ESR. Inspite of what each solution set stated, it was precisely the most recent update (and as I understand the final ESR update) that caused the problems -- not any add-ons, nor any extensions, nor settings [everything was just fine until the update installed]. Furthermore, the slowness, and frequent hanging, does not produce errors or crashes, so there is nothing in the logs. A study using Process Explorer shows the problem is in the module with entry point Firefox.exe+0x5efd and occurs when a site is first accessed, a linked page is accessed, or the page is closed. Moreover, no other programs or processes other than lower level system calls are accessed. No increased usage of anti-virus, other aprocesses, or system services, so there are no hints as to what the primary problem is.

I primarily use Windows XP. I experimented with a Windows 7 environment, but the auto update path removed access to over 300 log-in entries because of changes brought about with the shift to the Quantum environment. There were no methods suggested that would retrieve my sign-on database and import it into any new structure. (And yes, I read all of those posted.) I have neither the time nor the patience to take screen shots and manually enter and check for accuracy all those entries.

Therefore, I have given up on Firefox. I'll go back a few revisions and start to use Opera and Google Chrome which appear to treat the user with more respect.

I have got Firefox 52.6 ESR and when I click on the Download button sometimes Firefox crashes and even the whole desktop enviroment do it, too and I have the only choice to close everything.

I've been struggling with a Firefox (v52.6) sluggishness problem for several months, and since in the meantime I tried all fixes I could find suggested in these pages, I thought to try and seek help in the forums.

Firefox is still usable, but resource-intensive pages (e.g. Facebook, Google Maps) are slow to respond, and often freeze the Firefox window (the no-response mouse cursor) for a few seconds. Meanwhile, the same pages (and the same amount of total load, i.e. open tabs) in Chrome produce normal performance, which suggests the sluggishness is a problem with Firefox rather than a performance issue with my PC, which is of decent specs (8GB RAM, i7 CPU).

Typically, Firefox becomes more sluggish the more it's been without a restart, and the memory resources it uses seem to grow proportionately. However, even when it's only using a few hundreds MB (after a restart), it's still quite sluggish, while Chrome, with a similar amount of memory used, is just fine. Likewise, when after a while the RAM consumed by Firefox/Chrome goes up to >1GB (not sure if this is in itself normal or not!), while Firefox is crawling, Chrome is still fast.

What I tried, which did not fix Firefox's sluggishness (or only did so for a short while):

- disable extensions one by one, and even all at once

- disable all plugins

- start Firefox in safe mode

- ultimately, I used the refresh function, and immediately afterwards Firefox seemed to be as fast as Chrome. I subsequently reinstalled all my addons (which include ABP, Zotero Connector, Classic Theme Restorer, NoScript) and settings. The next day, it seems my joy was shortlived, as Firefox is back to its usual sluggishness.

I would not want to migrate to Chrome unless I really cannot find a fix for this problem. Can anyone suggest more things I can try?

I am managing a group of network booted Ubuntu 14.04 workstations at a small town (public) library and the current version of Firefox for Ubuntu 14.04 crashes. The machine have all of the file systems NFS mounted. Installing an older version (Firefox 52.6.0 ESR) works however. The new version of Firefox works just fine on the pair library owned laptops, that also run Ubuntu 14.04, but the laptops are self-contained -- they boot off their local disks. Why is this? I have pretty much determined that the only definable issue is that the network booted machines are using NFS for their file systems. No, the workstations are not sharing logins -- each machine auto-logins to a *different* user, each with their own *separate* $HOME directory and they are *not* trying to share firefox configuration trees ($HOME/.mozilla/firefox/...). But all of these directories are NFS mounted. Oh, the server for the /home file system is running CentOS 6.

The upgrade was from the previous 64 bit version. Also, have tried to the restore option but always get the message "Unable to process backup file" - extremely frustrating.
