I am running Windows 11. Firefox 144.0 (64-bit)

When entering search terms into the search bar in the centre of the page, the information typed appears in the address bar, even after following the fix described in 1284577.

Treating the address bar as the search bar appears to be the default. While the user can additionally deselect the search engine in the address bar, that is an unnecessary and undesired additional step for every search (the primary reason I am using Firefox)

Is there a way to permanently set the default for what I enter into the search bar to remain in the search bar and not to be managed by the address bar? Thanks, Rich

I can't seem to locate how to activate the microphone in the AI sidebar. I have Gemini selected, and when I hit the microphone to dictate I get the following message.. Unable to access the microphone. Please check settings.

I looked through Firefox settings and my laptop's but I don't see where it is turned off or asking for activation.'

Firefox has been my browser of choice for well over 20 years. I have a game I play every day (from FaceBook) just this week when I try to go to it on my laptop - it says your browser does not support WebGL. it has always opened using Firefox - this is a new error message. and the computer is only 5 months old and has Windows 11 on it. I do not want to switch to Google or Edge.

Like I said - opening the app worked every day up until about a week ago. What gives?

Previous solution: switch browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.improvesearch.handoffToAwesomebar to false does not work anymore.

Please help.

These icons appeared recently in my Firefox browser I can't remove them. The only recent changes included uninstalling SuperAntiSpyware after finding that Microsoft PC Manager is a better option, which has performed excellently without issues.

Additionally, a free VPN (Proton) was briefly used from the Firefox browser without installation, but after finding it complicated to set up, it was deleted. A few hours later, I noticed the two icons as the windows were misbehaving and they are causing a slowdown in the PC's performance. They do not seem to be add-ons or extensions.

How do I remove the icons and return to the previous performance?

Firefox crashes whenever it would need access to my camera or microphone. So far it has only happened whn trying to access a Roll20 game with camera and microphone connectivity, and when trying to access a video appointment for Universal Credit. It never happened on Windows 10, but since updating to Windows 11 it happens every time without fail, and the crash is immediate.

hi i am unable to use the middle search bar on the firefox screen , i understand that this search bar is a dummy bar, i have been told that to make this bar work you have to alter the settings using about:config process, and changing the handoff from ture to false , to which I have done in the past and it has worked , but for a reason I cannot understand this seems not to work now , i am completely lost now and i am reaching out to the community for help and advise thank you . I posted a question in here two days ago because my firefox wouldnt open anymore i got a follow up answer telling me to give the crash id but never got a follow up after i sent it . i tried shuffling between profiles and in the end got it working but today my pc had a crash while firefox was open and it had to restart when i tried to open firefox its as if i just installed it and i dont have any backups to be honest i tried checking the appdata folder and there is a profile folder that seems big enough that it might be mine but it doesnt seem like firefox is reading it for some reason i tried switching the data in the profile folder that firefox is considering but it didnt work .

The Firefox icon looks like it has a shopping cart on the top-left hand side. What is this for? It is only happening on the Windows 11 taskbar (not the desktop or menu shortcut).

my PC was lagging on wake up so I was disabling some things at startup like duck duck go and copilot to see if that helped. I have windows 11. somehow during the process my google sheets will no longer perform copy > paste special values anymore. It works on my Mac and it works on other browsers, but I need it to work on firefox. went to google sheets help, they are also stumped.

I don't like to use the address bar to type searches. I like using the SEARCH BOX in Firefox's New Tab instead. But, with each update, I once again have to try to figure out how to set Firefox searches to be typed in the search box. Is there any way to set this so it doesn't get changed with every update?

I don't remember when it started but text that wasn't underlined before such as: Names of shortcuts in new tab view Titles of YouTube videos on home page, and recommended while watching a video (not on the video itself) Reddit titles and usernames (old UI)

I have checked settings as best as I can and tried disabling all extensions but still have the issue.

Following a recent Firefox update, 1.48.0 I think, the search box in the middle of the page no longer works, any attempt to type there ends up in the address bar. I have tried setting "browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.improvesearch.handoffToAwesomebar" to false and other suggested fixes on the internet but it made no difference. I am running Windows 11 Pro, fully updated. Hope you can help Regards Keith

I would like to remove the search options from the address bar because I preferred the old setup with a separate search window (and the address bar was just unable to perform searches). How can I set this up?
