I am 82 years of age and did not grow up with the Internet. I have a total of only 8 hours of training on a PC. I have no idea how my PC got into 'safe mode' and now all of my extensions are disabled. I do not know how to exit 'safe mode' to allow the extensions to be enabled again. I tried following the instructions as provided, but to no avail.

I have just had to replace my PC following a bit of a disaster with my old one. The new PC has Windows 11. As usual I downloaded Firefox as I always use this. Somewhere in the installation of Firefox I must have been asked about blocking ads, but I don't remember. Now all ads are blocked, which I don't mind, but some sites are asking me to disable my ad-blocker if I want to use their site. Mostly I don't but there is one I need to use, so I would like to add that site as an exception, but I cannot find any mention of any ad-blocker in settings. Where do I find this? and how do I add exceptions?

The only add-on that I have in Firefox is the 'Privacy Badger' which could be the problem I suppose, but I can't see the website listed in the ones Privacy Badger is blocking.

Any help would be appreciated

Dear Firefox, My mouse is not doing the usual function. The right click is giving me different options like translate the word I highlighted or search the meaning. I just need the right click to copy. How did it even changed without my knowledge. Thank you, Alice

I have just downloaded NordPass Password Manager. I think I have added an extension for this in Firefox, but I can't tell if it has been successfully added.

I am using Windows 11 Home Version 25H2 OS Build 26200.8037 64 bit operating system

I am currently using a ~6 yr old laptop with a 256GB SSD running Win11, v25H.2, build 26200.8457. My Firefox is 151.0.1 64bit. After a Firefox update a couple months ago, Privacy Badger was put forth as a recommended extension for FF and since it was showing on the toolbar I installed/activated it. It worked fine for maybe 2-3 weeks, then I started getting popups from Dell saying "can't do system backup, not enough memory", so I looked and I have a 256GB SSD but it showed I had <4GB free/available when every time I had checked it in the past, on at least a monthly basis, it was always around 65GB free. After doing a lot of web searching, one of the things mentioned for finding what was eating my memory was to check Task Manager, so I did. I generally have only 2, maybe 3 FF tabs open at a time but Task Mgr was usually showing up to 23 open and that FF was using about 950MB of disk space - something that I'd never seen before. I looked back at what updates were done and aside from an Intel Bluetooth update, the only thing that was different was that I had activated Privacy Badger. So, I opened FF, clicked on P-B, then 'uninstall', closed and restarted FF and the P-B icon was gone from the toolbar. However, in the next couple weeks, I noticed that when I looked at certain websites, I was still getting their popup notices about "please disable your ad-blocker so we can make money off the ads" or "we're honoring your opt-out request", or other. But, this didn't happen all the time, just sporadically, but I did notice that ads were largely gone from the websites I usually go looking at. I even went so far as to go to FF menu and check "use standard tracking protection", "never remember history", and didn't activate VPN or anything else. I went through the FF menus 'settings', 'extensions', 'more tools' and could not find any reference to P-B being active. However, FF still seems to be going a bit nuts about opening instances - I've uploaded an image of what Task Mgr is seeing as I type this out - in the background is my open FF showing 2 tabs open, but in the foreground Task Mgr is showing I have 12 open 'instances' taking up >600MB. About 10 days ago, I went through some of the FF help questions on the site and followed through with making sure this was clicked and that was unclicked and so forth, even went so far as to 'refresh' FF. Nothing has changed for the better, as a matter of fact now practically all websites I visit are asking me "do you want to disable your ad-blocker?". How do I answer that? I UNINSTALLED THE AD-BLOCKER!!!

Also, when researching where my disk storage disappeared to, I installed WinDirStat. Running that, I found capabilityaccessmanager.db-wal file was over 80GB which was way over what it should be. I found some steps to get rid of it and did so, but then found that my laptop now takes 5-6 minutes to start up (with an SSD???) where it used to start in ~45 seconds, and my wifi connection sometimes takes another 2-3 minutes to connect on top of the startup cycle. Looking at what capability....-wal does and it supposedly keeps track of or monitors or something with internet connections... And in the last two weeks or so, that db-wal file has gone again from ~26GB to almost 70GB and my free disk space is back down to about 6GB. So here's a theory: somehow Privacy Badger made some kind of change to Firefox, something hidden below all the surface commands and options, and that change is making FF keep all tabs/windows that are opened in that session in the back seat as it were until FF is closed. In the meantime, since FF has all these tabs/windows/sites still in memory waiting to be activated again and sucking up memory, CapabilityAccessManager is trying to also keep these in active memory but it doesn't delete those instances/websites when FF is closed because the last it heard from FF was 'keep these active in case we re-open them'.

But, that is secondary to the initial problem of "I uninstalled Privacy Badger but Firefox still acts like it is active", and "Firefox is using a lot of disk space that it looks like it doesn't actually need". I contacted Privacy Badger (extension-devs@eff.org) and ran through the situation with FF appearing to be still honoring P-B even though P-B was uninstalled and they said "Once you remove a browser extension from the browser, the extension should be fully gone. You may have changed various Firefox privacy settings or installed another blocker extension. You may have a VPN or some other software that blocks trackers." But that's just it, I have a separate VPN but it's ad-blocker has never been activated, and I haven't changed any FF privacy settings other than 'never remember history'...

Any words of wisdom on why FireFox still thinks Privacy Badger is still active would be greatly appreciated.

I am a long time Chrome user but decided to give Firefox a try for various reasons. 1 like Firefox's ability to highlight and add text comments to articles and documents. One feature lacking, or maybe it exists but I have not discovered it, would be the ability to copy and save all highlights / commnents in an article / document to subsequently use them as a summary, abstract, or digest of main points To preclude having to re read the entire document again And that's wanting to do so. There is a Chrome extension called Highlighter that Does just that , supports the copy all highlights.

I am returning to Firefox after a long time. I've added the bonjour start page which is working fine with one exception. I am unsure if this problem is associated with the extension or with the Firefox browser, bonjour is working fine but I get a long message in the search bar telling me "bonjour Start page" (See included image). I'm trying to customise the toolbar does not allow me to remove anything relevant to that button or whatever it is. I can drag it off the toolbar but it just goes straight back on the toolbar by itself. The long and short of it is that it's taking up quite a large chunk of the toolbar and I don't want that I know that I'm using Bonjour I don't need to be told constantly.

I'm using Firefox, updated to version 140.0.4, on my Windows 11 laptop. Since Edge is my primary browser, I normally only use Firefox for two particular websites that don't work well in Edge. Beginning in March 2025, I've had a strange problem with one of those websites. In certain situations, words or phrases pop up in text boxes, meaning that if I want to type something, I first have to delete the word or phrase. Since it's a game website (not a video type game -- actually contract bridge) and the game is somewhat time-sensitive, this is very annoying. The words and phrases are ones that are appropriate to the website (i.e., not random), and seem to be the same in each session. That's why I labeled this as a "clipboard-related" issue.

Clearing the cache seems to help for a short time, but the problem always returns. <Ctrl>-F5 also helps, but seems to work for some text boxes but not others. In fact, <Ctrl>-F5 works for one type of text box, the type that I use most often, for the remainder of that session. But if I use one of the other text boxes, it doesn't help.

If that isn't strange enough, there are two additional oddities: For the other text boxes, the ones that are unaffected by <Ctrl>-F5, if I continue to use them, they eventually stop popping up words and phrases, again just for the remainder of that session.

The other oddity is that I'm using the free version of the LastPass plugin, and every time one of these words or phrases pops up, the LastPass symbol (a red box with three white dots) also appears at the right of the text box. This is completely inappropriate, since these text boxes have nothing to do with logging in or passwords. For this reason, I'm going to try to contact LastPass to ask about the same issue. However, their support isn't very responsive, so I'm hoping that somebody in the Mozilla forum will have a solution.

As I said, the problem only occurs on this one bridge website, and although I've been using Firefox to access it for several years, the issue never occurred before March 2025.

How do I answer this request? I cannot find any "ad blocking".

I am trying to make an Add-on to help simplify daily things I do at work. I have already made the addon and it works fine, but I'm trying to improve it but I've run into issues. The addon's popup window scrapes data from our ticketing system, then shows the data that it found and has a print button. That print button opens a new window and prompts to print, then closes automatically. I am printing a receipt with data pertaining to the user, their computer, and location. For certain tickets, I want to hide/remove certain fields, but for other tickets keep those fields. I already have it set up to always show the fields whether there is data there or not, but for this one specific ticket type I want those fields to be hidden. Right now, the version of this addon for Chromium browsers works fine and does what I want it to, but when I try to set it up for Firefox, it does not detect the ticket's item type. Even manually setting the variables to true does not hide the fields. Am I putting the logic for this in the wrong file? Or is it not being injected properly? My mail checker extension isn't working right in Firefox. Extension Link I was able to find an error using Developer Options but I don't know if the error is even related to the extension or if it is even useful. If anyone would help me, I would be very grateful.

I have Norton 360. I just reinstalled a brother printer and now I get the "Your browser is being managed by your organization". While I sync with my laptop, as others have said, I'm not an organization. There is an Enterprise policy .

I can't store or edit any bookmarks. How do I correct this? I need answers in very simple terms as I am very much a layman with computers. Thank You!

When I select a bookmark to select a web site I have other web sites loading in along with the selected. This just started all of a sudden.

How do I stop it?

I want to be able to select the ai program I would like to use when researching (anything), like I have with Claude, but I don't know how to download the programs and have on the side bar like I have claude. Please help. Also, I can't download Deepseek.
