When I open Facebook in Firefox 150.0.1 with no extensions then move the cursor over a video, that video automatically plays.

Preferences | Privacy and Security | Browser Privacy | Permissions | Autoplay | Default is set to Block Audio and Video yet videos still automatically play.

Hello! from this morning and alongside a new Firefox update i've been having graphical artifacts on Youtube/Facebook/Netflix. I've followed all the standard steps.

Disabled Hardware Acceleration. Updated Video Drives. Run FF in Safe Mode without plugins. Disabled Router level VPN and Ghostery.

Any ideas?

I'm running FF135.0 Geforce 572.16 Drives (30th Jan) 3070TI. Windows 10 Pro 22H2.

Just built a new PC and using Win11. I like to have a pinned tab in Firefox playing some kind of media to have background noise. Since new build, whenever I am not 'focused' on that tab and doing other tasks, audio from that tab will cut/fade in and out.

I've been working on this for 16 hours. I've googled, binged, even yahooed. No answers. Checked and rechecked all settings, both system and browser. Uninstalled/Reinstalled *many* applications, including Firefox. My OCD won't let me rest till I have this solved.

I am running Firefox 144.0 on kubuntu 24.04.3 LTS I have lost sound on Firefox. I have opened the same sites in Chrome and the sound is working fine. It's only in Firefox. I have tried several sites including Udemy, YouTube, and radio programs, no sound from Firefox. The problem started in the middle of a Jit.Si session. All of a sudden the sound disappeared. I thought that restart Firefox would help, then restart the computer would help. But the problem has continued. The speakers is turned on the volume is up, just not a sound from Firefox. What to do?

So I clicked into a video, and it did not play. Further troubleshooting showed it was a video hosted by vimeo, and youtube videos still worked. I tried on multiple vimeo hosted videos, on multiple unconnected websites (dropout, patreon, and directly on the vimeo website).

I tried the following fixes:

• I opened it in a private window and nothing played.
• I booted into safe mode, still nothing.
• I turned off all of my add-ons, nope.
• I cleared my cache and restarted, nothing.
• I cleared my browsing data and restarted, also nothing.
• I checked for updates: up to date.
• I created a test profile, and it works there.
• I opened Chrome and it worked there too.

The test profile/chrome thing suggests it's an add-on or something but the fact that I turned them all off and this still happened has me baffled.

Update: I fixed it. Was user error.

Fire fox is automatically playing videos/sound or both if I click on a tab that has that or also in facebook, etc. How do I stop this? I want to be able to click play when I want to hear/see something.

Hi. There is a problem with video playback when skipping through the video using a playback bar. The video (but not audio) freezes at the spot when one skippes to another part of the video and re-establishes after a while (not so short while) to the part of the video that is currently played. I'm using Linux Fedora.

YouTube videos encoded at 60 frames per second are extremely choppy in Firefox only. Microsoft Edge plays the same videos perfectly.

I have deleted my profile and reinstalled Firefox, updated graphics driver to the latest version, and toggled hardware acceleration on and off. Nothing helps.

For years I have been able to watch a foreign TV website, despite having only a DSL connection (I allow only the scripts essential to make it work). Since I did the last update, to 137.0, I cannot watch either the live stream ("General source error") or old programs ("There is something wrong with your internet connection"). This is absolutely consistent; I've lost count of the times I've tried.

I never had problems like this before. At worst, if Windows was running a background process I might have to stop it to keep from having pauses in the program. All I can think of is that you did something in the new version of Firefox that has made video impossible on DSL.

I click on a video to play - video opens, plays maybe 10 to 20 seconds, then playback stops spinning top, I also found out during the last glitch after update that if I switch the resolution briefly, higher or lower doesn't matter - important is to leave the current resolution and switch to another one. And oh wonder - immediately, instantly with the change, the video starts playing. If I wait for this - without doing anything myself, it sometimes takes 30 - 40 seconds for the video to start ... sometimes it just "hangs" ... This is extremely annoying - if it doesn't work, I have to switch browsers... What is also extremely annoying is that it occurs almost regularly after an update ... until the next one possibly, for unknown reasons, does not fix the error, but sometimes mitigates it. When I load the video the page loads like normal, all comments and everything is there except the video square is not there. cant see the video, anyhow. even if i move my mouse cursor on it on the start page, the little video wont play the preview. no video player at all. anywhere.
