I reset a computer, deleting all my files. I want to use, as I do elsewhere, Firefox as my browser. And though I signed into Firefox using my old credentials, none of my bookmarks are there. How do I complete this setup?

It looks as though installing this 115.10 ESR will be a "new Install" instead of an update.

1) Will I lose my bookmarks, settings, passwords, ect? (My bookmarks have been collecting for years....)

2) If I try this will creating a restore point return me back to the way I was before the attempt?

Firefox cannot access my bank account. Bank says hello to my name when I log in, but then keeps saying "loading" and can never show me what is in my bank accounts. Why?

One of my machines has Windows 7 installed and uses Chrome browser. Recently I had a need to install Firefox. As soon as the install completed, all of my existing Google related shortcut icons changed to some generic type. No matter what I did I could not change the shortcut icons back to their original. I uninstalled Firefox and they all came back. Any suggestions?

For the past week, my browser does not auto-update. I have to download the update and re-download the browser.

I went into the settings and found the update section and when I clicked "Check for Updates", it kept saying "failed to check for updates". I tried with my proxy-settings on with VPN on, proxy-settings on with VPN off, proxy-settings off with VPN on, proxy-settings on, with VPN off.

This is in my personal laptop, where I am the only and admin profile.

My Firefox used to to auto-update but now it keeps saying I need to download the update, but my browser can't even tell if I have the most current version or not.

I have been getting the "new version available, download now nag for over 2 weeks, and I have the latest version. Still get this issue repeatedly every day. Starting to become an every hour nag to update and install latest version of Firefox. Refuse to use Microsoft Edge or Chrome, and will switch off Firefox too if not rectified.

I've become VERY diligent about replacing my old, simple passwords.

I no longer repeat passwords, have long complex logins, everything (not to mention 2-factor notification on sites that have it)

I was shocked that after I updated to 124.0.1 that alot of my old passwords showed back up in my saved logins

Fortunately that doesn't mean that those are still active passwords on there respective sites.

However, how do I get my "saved logins" back to it's form BEFORE I updated to 124.0.1.....it seems that the update is what did it

the only solution I can come up with is just manually delete all the old ones that showed back up...I really don't want to do that

For what it's worth- I do have a "Old Firefox Data" file on my desktop

I'm currently running MacOS Sonoma 14.2.1

Can I download Firefox and save it to a flash-drive instead of installing it? The computer I need it on has a new install of Windows 7 with IE and it will not browse.

I am using Firefox on Linux. Version is showing as 114.0.2 when I do firefox --version. The display in the Firefox windows is completely messed up. Can't show what I mean as I probably can't get a screenshot. Is this to do with hardware accelerated video? These messages appeared when I tried it from the command line: "[GFX1-]: glxtest: libEGL missing methods for GL test Missing chrome or resource URL: chrome://global/skin/icons/warning-16.png" It starts and then has very high CPU. I had to reboot. I may have added something to the config in the past, using the GUI, but can't remember what I did, maybe to do with the hardware acceleration, thinking I could try seeing if it would work. I tried a few things adding these lines to a user.js file in the profile folder (something I found online):

"user_pref("browser.preferences.defaultPerformanceSettings.enabled", false); user_pref("layers.acceleration.disabled", true");

This has not helped. Is there anything else I can do?

A few weeks ago I saw an Mozilla ad for a new Mozilla software product that cleaned up your PC and made it run better. The price was around $125.00 (I don't remember that exact price). It said that I would receive an email from Mozilla with download instructions. it's been a few weeks and I have not gotten any email. Does anyone know if Mozilla offers any such software or did I get scammed? I'm pretty good about seeing scams but Ive used Firefox and Mozilla for years and trust them. Maybe that's why I wasn't as careful as I should have been.

Not sure if this is a new 'feature' post-update but it's damn annoying. I was busily transferring some photos that I'd taken on my phone over to Firefox on my Mac. Wasn't until I went to find them on the Mac where they would normally be and couldn't find them. Bit of digging, opening up the Download 'history' on Firefox and saw "File not downloaded: possible security risk".

I can see that I can disable this 'feature' but it seems to be a global "allow". Is there any way I can tell Firefox to allow any downloads from my devices on my network yet warn for potentially insecure downloads from the web?

I had posted my question yesterday and received a response from jscher2000. I sent a reply to the response by email a short while ago, but I wasn't sure it went through. Therefore, at the possible expense of having you receive the reply twice, I have recopied it here:

Thank you for trying to help me download Firefox onto my computer. As per your advice, I first tried shutting down and restarting my computer. That did not work. It stopped at the point where it said Execute: "C:|Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\default-browser-agent.exe" register-task 308046B... (It looks like there might be some more letters and/or numbers after the "B", but I can't see what they are.) I waited a few more hours to see if the installation would continue, but it did not. Again, installation proceeded to around 80 - 90 %, and then I got a message, "Hmmm. For some reason, we could not install Firefox. Choose OK to start over." Starting over didn't help. I have downloaded and installed Mozilla Firefox on a new computer through the Edge browser both from the Mozilla site and through the Microsoft store. The installation downloads and installs as it should. Firefox has been selected as the default browser and everything appears as it should. When I open Firefox and type in an address, nothing populates. No site will open on the screen. When I open settings in Firefox, nothing opens. When I open history, it shows that I have been to the sites that I have loaded even though they haven't shown on the browser. I have completely uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled it with the same result. I have downloaded Opera browser and it installs correctly, I have downloaded and installed Firefox from Opera and had the same result. Any ideas?

I did an Upgrade to a version of Firefox that would bypass those "Your Browser Is Not Supported" messages that apparently come from "Cloud-flare." I figured [naievely!] that my addons would "port" to the upgrade. They didn't. Is there any way [e.g., a putative backup file, perhaps] that would allow this?
