This is a follow-up to an earlier question I asked, viz. Stop Search Suggestions in the Awesome Bar. The solution presented in that question worked for a while, but now the ugly problem has returned.

I made sure to turn off Search Suggestions for Google search (indeed, for all included search engines), and I inserted the URL described in the answer. It did no good - Search Suggestions are back.

I am able to turn off Search Suggestions in Google Chrome. I am also able to turn off Google Instant, something else I can't (yet) do in Firefox.

I have Firefox 18 installed. This is the third time Firefox has stopped opening.

I have run Malwarebytes & Microsoft Security Essentials all three times and each time neither has found any issues. The only thing that has worked has been uninstalling (using Revo Uninstaller) and reinstalling.

It has been working fine for about three weeks, and stopped opening again last night.

Oh, and trying to use the mozilla help screens in Internet Explorer is a nightmare ...

And I tried to use the Troubleshooter below, IE won't let that happen either.

I can't access the internet via Firefox, which automatically updates itself on my computer. K12, the online school I work for, says it is not "compatible" with Firefox versions above 3.6. Why can't I keep 3.6, since the grading tools I need are the easiest to work with?

How can I get 3.6 back on my computer?

I am currently using Aurora and my Yahoo mail asks me to sign in every 10-15mins. Probably, the cookie expires for some reason.

The default cookie timeout is 2 weeks. I have tried and it works perfectly on other browsers and the current version of Firefox. The only problem is with Aurora and this issue started with an update about a month back.

Please help or direct me to a proper channel where I can raise this issue or file a bug, may be.

Google is my default search engine. I followed the instructions to turn off Search Suggestions in Firefox 13. Unfortunately, this only seems to work if I search from the Search Bar. If I search from the Awesome Bar, which I prefer, Search Suggestions still appear. Can I prevent search suggestions from the Awesome Bar as well? I can do this in Google Chrome - please tell me I can do it in Firefox!

The way to do this in Chrome is enter the following URL as your default search engine:

https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&complete=0&site=webhp&q=%s&btnK=Google+Search

I don't see a way to do this in Firefox 13. BTW, the above URL also prevents Google Autocomplete and Google Instant.

I have installed an older version of Firefox (v. 19.0) ... It still allowed for the "Favicon Picker" add-on to work properly. Then I change the favicons to display the way I want them ... I then export bookmarks in HTML (including favicon files) ... Then I can update to the latest version of Firefox (or Waterfox) and import my bookmarks via html ... every thing is perfect, until the first time I click on a bookmark with a custom favicon ... immediately it is replaced by the sites favicon. Can I stop sites from automatically including their favicons when I visit their pages? Is there a userChrome line that someone can feed me? Any ideas? Thanks for reading.

Flash player can't be user anymore, and updating flash player doesn't work either anymore. Only get a white screen on the adobe website.

I downgraded to 35.0 and tried the same thing. No Problem! Moved back to 35.0.1 , Problem! Moved back again, no Problem!

I read in the forums and googled it that tons of people have this Problem but Firefox says were are all dumb asses who don't know squad.

Since I really never ever have a problem, as sys admin I know my way around virtually any software and even write my own, I can confirm this is a problem caused by firefox, so please fix it and stop saying your users are simply not smart enough!

Fact is, smart or not, a plugin should simply work, without a user taking action or not, so, regardless of his her intelligence.

I have recently upgraded Firefox to 36 due to a runtime error on an earlier version. I am running Win XP with SP3, and also using Norton 360. After the upgrade the address bar does not work either by using the enter key, or the drop down menu of recent sites and selecting one. My bookmarks work as they should and I can go to any site that I have there. My Google home page works as it should and it will take me to any site from my homepage. I have tried using the Mozilla Firefox "safe start" method with no difference. I have also upgraded my Norton 360 with the latest changes and it's up date. I have "allowed" Mozilla Firefox in the Norton firewall configuration, but none of these things have had any effect on the problem. I have read, and tried, everything I could find regarding "address bar problems" but to no avail. I really like Firefox but this is becoming quite annoying and I don't want to go back to IE 8. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Firefox will not go to any URL typed into the location bar. Nor will it search for anything typed into the search bar. I have tried opening Firefox in Safe Mode, unchecking the compatibility options, clearing my recent history (the history icon doesn't even appear in the Firefox toolbar anymore), setting all Add-Ons to "Always activate," rebooting the computer, and uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox, and nothing so far has work. The uninstall function must not completely uninstall Firefox because it does not delete my bookmarks which are all still present. The first symptom of a problem was an error message and the first fix I tried was reinstalling Firefox without uninstalling first. Now the error message no longer appears and I do not remember what it was.

Hi all,

I updated firefox to version 48 today and to my dismay found that it is no longer possible to disable add-on signing, not even for specific addons.

For me this is a showstopper because I am using Firefox at work and I absolutely MUST be able to use the F5 Networks Host Plugin to access a legacy VPN. This plugin has no signature and there is no update provided (yet?) by the network I am connecting to.

This is reason enough for me to stop updating Firefox.

I have gone back to Firefox 47.0.1 which allows me to disable add-on verification and I'm sticking to that version unless someone can tell me there is another way?

Thanks

Hello all, For reasons of privacy, I want to be able to change the OS identifier in the user-agent string that is sent with every http request. I remember with older versions of firefox this could be accomplished in about:config and changing the useragent string, but this doesn't seem to be an option with newer versions. I have tried on both firefox for FreeBSD and Windows 8.1, to no avail.

If it is assigned at build time, could you please direct me to the area of code where this is handled so I can fork the code, change it locally, and build it for personal use?

This is the string I am trying to change: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; FreeBSD amd64; rv:53.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/53.0

I suspect it may be stored in one of the files in the ~/.mozilla directory, and while I wait for a response, I will be picking through there.

Thanks in advance,
