Normally I would select/wrap text in Firefox and right click and choose copy from the top of menu, click and go to Word,Notepad etc. and go to paste but nothing there paste item in menu greyed out.

It works ok ctrl v and c but is frustrating because the built-in function is so much cleaner

I've had this problem for a long time, and I've done most everything suggested in other forums regarding this matter. I've disabled "disabled protected mode, disabled hardware acceleration, made sure everything is updated, and nothing works. Unfortunately, this makes Firefox so unusable that I've had to switch to another browser for the time being, but it's having it's own issues. Very frustrating! I like Firefox and would like to have it working, but this "shockwave flash plugin" problem has been a persistent problem for the last year.

I've seen many other users who have not been able to fix the problem via the above suggestions, so--what's the verdict? Is there something else I can try?

Every time I go to Yahoo.com and try to sign into my mail accounts, I get the Recaptcha. It may ask me to click on all cars in the pictures. When I do that I notice the "Continue" button is superimposed on the pictures of the cars and then when I try to click on the "Continue" button, I get a circle with a diagonal slash mark through it. Yahoo won't help me with this until I pay money. This problem started when their pay for phone tech program started. Please help!

I've been primarily a Firefox user (with Chrome as back-up) for years, with only occasional, and minor, problems. I'm automatically updated to the latest version of Firefox.

So my browser life has been good--uneventful, even serene.

Until yesterday. Then Firefox suddenly stopped responding. Once, then twice, all together about five times yesterday, it would stop responding and I'd have to close the program and restart. And the pattern has repeated itself today. Sometimes when it's not responding I can still do things like open a new tab, but not download files or play a YouTube video--in fact there's a blank space where the video should be. Sometimes I can't even close Firefox in order to restart without turning off my computer.

Let me emphasize that nothing has changed in the manner of my Firefox use to possibly trigger all this.  I'm doing exactly what I always did, nothing more. 

My first awareness came when Windows notified me that Firefox had stopped responding and wanted me to click on "close program" in the dialog box and close Firefox, which I did. Windows said they would search for a solution, and let me know. At one point Mozilla came on the screen to announce a crash, and I filled out a crash report. Each time my first awareness of a problem comes when Windows appears in a little box and announces that Firefox has stopped responding. Soon after, the lack of responsiveness will become obvious to me in a variety of ways.

One notable point: if I restart Firefox everything will be fine for a while, and then, out of the blue, the unresponsiveness will recur.

I want to know why this is happening. Since my internet browsing pattern has not changed its nature, does the fault lie with this new version of Firefox? Or is there some malware that is responsible? I should emphasize that I've been using Chrome in the meantime and it has exhibited none of the problems of Firefox.

Actually, rather than my engaging in ignorant speculation, I'll just wait for analysis by the experts in this forum.

Lets try here, here is the pic below. Tried everything even addon permissions, reloading Adobe flash, darned everything. I don't know who^s to blame, Firefox or Adobe or both ?

When viewing a user's photos on instagram.com/user, I click on one photo and it opens in a new tab (as opposed to popping up in the same tab in middle of the screen). Then, when I 'X' out the new tab and return to the old one with the rest of the photos, I cannot click on anymore. I have to refresh the page each time I want to view a new photo. This does NOT occur when I view the instagram.com/user page using Internet Explorer. Shockwave Flash and all other plug-ins are up to date. I just noticed this issue with Firefox's newest upgrade.

Last week, I downloaded Mumble, a voice chat program. I was playing World of Warcraft at the time, and needed to download Mumble on the fly, so I was insufficiently careful and downloaded an extension, Websteroids, at the same time. Websteroids highlights words in text documents which, when scrolled over, lead to advertisements. The claim of the Websteroids website is that it turns a webpage into a meteoroids game.

I have repeatedly disabled and removed it from my extensions list, uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox, deleted files with the Websteroids name on it, uninstalled it and Mumble, and any other files/programs that I could find from that date.
I've run my antivirus program (AVG), spybot s&d, and lavasoft ad aware and followed the advice from their scans. Nevertheless, Websteriods keeps reinstalling itself without warning.
I have restarted Mozilla in safe mode and I've also deleted anything I could find from the publisher, Creative Island Media, LLC.
The next step that I can think of is a system restore. Before I do that, is there any other less drastic step that might work?

After the latest update I cannot download apps from some locations. Whenever I click on the download button it acts as though it will download then up pops a page of gibberish (it looks like code). I haven't changed anything and all my downloads work just fine in IE and Chrome, so I know it's a Firefox problem.

I just installed Firefox's newest version 21. I went to a website which required flash and it said I did not have flash installed. So I installed flash from adobe's website and it said it installed successfully I went back to the website after restarting my browser and it still did not work. I restarted my computer and nothing. I reinstalled flash again and it still does not work even though adobe is telling me it installed successfully.

I am a computer dummy. Firefox is installed in our Windows 8 computer as our browser. Whenever we use it, a very annoying thing called Default Fire Fox Developer tools comes up at the bottom and takes up half our screen. Sometime it lets me hit esc. to close it but then it just pops back up. We use our computer for the net, e mail and social media alongside learning sites for our kids. How can I get rid of this thing? Please help me and explain it like I am 6 .

unfortunately, it hides the checked-unchecked squares in my adblock plus filters preferences window.

How could i reserve the style for the "history" sidebar menu, only ?

There's a little green spinner that appears to the left of "Connecting..." on the tabs while loading a page. Any way to get rid of it? It's been quite annoying me for a while.

Just updated to Firefox 29.0 and the tabs not currently viewed are now the same colour as the background above them at the top. File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, Help are distinguished in a different colour though. I've checked but found this is the default theme. But it wasn't in 28.0, the tabs have always been a different colour to distinguish them. How do I tell Firefox to make the tabs a different colour to that above them? It's very annoying/disconcerting and just looks pretty awful. Not had this problem with updates changing the default colours before. Would have thought it's a no brainer for the default to have the tabs a different colour to distinguish them. Don't want to muck about with other themes, just want it like the default use to be. Thanks.

Firefox has begun opening very [very!] slowly, as well as crashing and freezing during use. This is happening on all of my three machines, two running Win 7 and one Win 8. I have tried refreshing and disabling hardware acceleration, but to no avail. Now it seems to freeze on opening and takes a minute or two even to become responsive, if at all. When I look at Task Manager during a freeze I see the Firefox process is using 35-50% of memory [i have 8GB, 12GB and 16GB] and up to 50% of processsor resources. All has been fine until the last couple of weeks. As an adjunct, in the last month I have noticed an almost permanent error message on the status bar - "Sync encountered an error while synchronising: Unknown error. Sync will automatically retry this action."

I'm having some trouble with javascript menus (or what I believe are javascript menus). Whether it matters or not I am not sure, but it happens in both Firefox and Chrome...IE works fine.

Examples of sites with menus that don't work:

1. Orbitz.com: Can't pull down the "Adult" or "Child" menus. 2. toyota.com: Can't "select vehicle" at the top of the page.

I get no error messages. I have started Firefox in safe mode, I have also reset Firefox.

As of today, I noticed, very oddly, that I cannot copy and paste anything from Firefox 44 into Word 97, which is something I generally do every day. I reset Firefox, but this changed nothing. I reinstalled Word 97, but this changed nothing. All the more oddly, copying from Firefox works fine into NotePad or Word 2013. Conversely, I can copy and paste from Explorer into Word 97 with no problems. It's only when copying and pasting from Firefox to Word 97 that things are impossible. As I have reinstalled everything, I'm at a loss. Any ideas? I've heard that Firefox has had some issues with copying...

I use Gmail and occasionally receive emails which contain embedded images rather than attachments. These images do not appear when I use Gmail from Firefox, but they do appear when I use Gmail from Chrome or IE. If I forward the mail then the images appear in the forward mail window. Have tried all of the recommended actions but with no success.

That link is to the search engine that has infected my firefox. I have tried several methods to get rid of it. I have gone into extensions and deleted anything that looked like it. I have gone into 'uninstall programs' and un-installed anything that was to do with it. I have ran my Norton 360 scan which has detected nothing. I downloaded Malware Bytes free anti-malware software scanner which detected nothing. I have reset the home page to default but this does nothing. I have tried re setting firefox, no result. Please can you help me remove this search engine off firefox, nothing seems to work and it is very irritating. Thanks

I updated my Firefox version either yesterday or the day before. I'm currently running Aurora 29.0a2. Ever since I updated, I've found several issues:

I am no longer able to customize my browser according to the steps found here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/customize-firefox-controls-buttons-and-toolbars?redirectlocale=en-US&redirectslug=How+to+customize+the+toolbar

When I go in to customize, all I can do is move around the buttons. I used to be able to add in spacing, but there's no longer an option for that. I can't move my tabs bar underneath the url bar, which is how I used to have it (shame on me for clicking "Restore defaults"). Is there another place where there are proper customization options?

Also, my status bar seems to have disappeared. On the status bar I had the loading text and hover-url text, as well as fox clocks. The entire bar is gone. I can manage with Status4ever, but if I try to have the status text show up in the actual status bar, it doesn't. There is no bottom bar at all. Is there some option I need to select somewhere or something?
