Hello,

After today's Thunderbird update for Windows 11, over half of the folders in the local folder are no longer displayed. However, the folders are present in the backup folder on an external hard drive.

What's causing this?

My internet service provider is Optimum. I do have an optimum account for my email. But my account for my emails uses Thunderbird. I kept getting alerts that I couldn't move emails to specific local folders to save. So, I went into my optimum account and deleted the emails in my inbox, junk and trash. when I returned to my thunderbird account, all of my emails in my inbox that I have already read, are gone. Wiped clean, no emails any longer. Is there someway to retrieve these lost emails?

I am updating from an old iMac to a new MacMini.

My new macMini does not seem to like my old Thunderbird program so I have downloaded a current version. 

How do I transfer all my old email contacts and old emails to the new platform? I am, in no way, technically savvy so I need simple answers, Many Thanks, John

I am using T-bird on a Mac. I set up for a gmail account. I can send emails but do not receive replies, etc. I noticed there is no mail inbox for the account. Settings appear correct. Any thoughts? Thank you.

I want to upgrade the hardware of a friend - and so I moved the homedir of the user to the new system, as I have done every time before in my life. But in this special case Thunderbird will not start with the used profile.

Thunderbird generally starts with e.g. the -P switch. But it will not start the default profile of the user. I tried to go this way concerning the versions 115 -> 128 -> 140 without success. I deleted all lock files, if there were any. I spent a lot of time with e.g. copilot - but it could not help me. I'm at a loss.

Is there any documentation with a kind of step-by-step instructions? Can you give me a hint, please?

Is it possible to copy just the Mail folder from a Thunderbird Profile backup in Time Machine on Mac? I have deleted an email account from Thunderbird and I did not tick Delete Data so the emails are still there in my Profile but they no longer show up in the tree in Thunderbird on my Mac ( OS 14.8 Sonoma). I had a lot of subfolders into which I had put incoming and sent emails on particular topics. For example I had a folder called Family, and inside that I had a subfolder called Birthdays as well as many other family related topics. My last Time Machine back up is about a month ago but that would be good enough to restore from. I tried ‘Import’ in Thunderbird but it only imported the main folders and the emails within but not the subfolders. I have another email address besides the deleted one and if I overwrite the whole Profile with the older one from Time Machine it will lose a lot of new stuff accumulated since that backup. Any help most appreciated

I have a desktop, a laptop, and a cell phone. If I have the application installed on these devices, and setup my email account (POP3 protocol), can I have the application setup such that they are synchronized in any ways?

e.g. if I send an email from the Desktop, will it appear in the Sent folder in other devices? e.g. if I receive an email from the mobile app, will it appear in the Inbox in other devices?

I ask because I do not see that but I do not know if it is a problem with my settings.

My hard drive is going to have to be replaced, how do I move everything to a new hard drive. I pay my bills from folders I have added in 'Tbird so it is imperative that I move it all intact AND that I have access to all of it after I do manage to relocate it to a fresh hard drive. All the folders, Inbox included, disappeared from one of my outlook accounts. It's OK everywhere else so I decided to remove and re-add the account in Thunderbird but now I can't add it again.

I get the error. "Authentication failed. Please check the username and password Exchange auth error"

I know the Username and Password is correct.

Solution appreciated, please.

I have been dealing with this issue for the last several thunderbird versions. I am currently running 115.18.0

Everytime I try to configure an existing gmail account for thunderbird via File -> New -> Existing email account

I specify my Name and gmail email address, then password for the gmail account.

The google authentication pop up launches " Mozilla Thunderbird wants to access you Gmail" and I click "Allow"

As soon as I click "Allow" I am asked to download a file.

Google gemini says this file is a sign that Oauth is not being accepted by thunderbird.

What I have tried. I verified Thunderbird is set to accept cookies I have verified there are no previously stored gmail passwords (as this has never worked) I have changed my default browser from Firefox to Brave and verified the same behavior

please help, Thunderbird has never been able to connect to gmail when running on this Ubtuntu install.

Every time I click download it takes me to a donation pop up. I donated, but nothing downloads. I've read all the suggestions already available on the forum, but no matter what I cannot get it to download.

Have been using Thunderbird on my laptop. Comcsst just changed their email system to yahoo email. I have followed instructions and changed it on my IPhone. When I did that my Thunderbird on my laptop no longer works. What do I need to do? My contacts address book is provided by Apple iCloud, of which I have added contacts with avatars for every contact I've received legitimate emails from. However, Thunderbird fails to render these avatars. The result looks like the attachment. Perhaps Apple is using HEIC for them?

While trying to locate the ID#s for all 15 different email accounts managed by my TB desktop app, I discovered that there are two instances of a gmail account, but with different ID#s (although only one appears in my home screen). I've found no way of determining which one is valid, and I can't risk losing my main gmail account if I try to delete one and choose the wrong one. Does anyone have any ideas I might try, to determine which one is the "extra" and how this happened? I've tried looking at the source code for emails in that account, but can't find any ID# referenced there.

As a last resort to restore my emails after trying everything else, if I delete my account and register it again as a new account will I lose all current emails and folders?
