email will not download to inbox in thunderbird.

I have thunderbird set up with 2 imap accounts and 2 pop accounts. It has been working fine for months. This past week I can no longer download email from the inbox of the 2nd imap account. If I move email to another folder using web access to the email account, it will download to the corresponding folder in thunderbird as expected. All other accounts in thunderbird are working correctly as well as all folders in the 2nd imap account except the inbox. If have done the repair folder and deleted all msf files in all imap folders. The only thing I notice that is different is that the second imap account does not have INBOX in the corresponding imap folder. It does have an INBOX.msf file.

I have deleted and reinstalled the second imap account with no change in behavior.

Any ideas before I completely uninstall and reinstall thunderbird?

When ever I search from the Address window or use the Google Search box next to the Address box it takes me to yahoo search with Query in the search box?? I have Google set as my Default search engine. I have reinstalled FF twice and it still does it???

Any ideas? Or a Phone number I can call?

FF didn't used to be so slow. It now get really slow and uses a lot of RAM to the extend that my disk is full and I have to shutdown FF.

I do have like 30 tabs open, with one or two Slack-like web apps. However, I'm not using them all at the same time. In the first couple of quantum releases it didn't used to be this slow, never mind pre-quantum performance. Oh and I'm not gonna compare to Chrome or Chromium.

Any help with this? Is it the extensions causing it?

  • Also I never found a proper replacement to legacy Tab Session Manager (the quantum one is no where near as good).

I was using TB version 68.8.0, Win 10, Norton Firewall. I started having intermittent failures connecting to my server when sending emails over the last 2 weeks. Then yesterday (no identified changes in my system configuration) I stopped being able to connect to my email server. When I attempt I get the usual connecting to server message in the lower left of the screen with a green bar then followed by the error message "connection to server XXXX timed out". I therefore cannot receive or send any emails. Logging on to earthlink via my browser, I can see that I have emails and that my account is functioning perfectly.

I have reinstalled thunderbird (now version 68.8.1), verified all server settings in the server box, tried safe mode, tried turning off my Norton firewall, tried all the different authentication methods, all to the same result.

I don't know what to try next.

Hi,

I have been trying to login to my Thunderbird account for quite a while however keep on getting the same error message - 'Sending of password for user ************** did not succeed. Mail server pop.mail.yahoo.com responded: Server error - Please try again later.'

I have been trying again later for weeks now using the right password so surely there is something wrong? It can't just be a matter of 'trying again later'?

I'd really appreciate some help with this - thanks so much!

Hi,

I use Thunderbird on one job and one private desktop PC for the same Zimbra E Mail Account. A week ago I deleted a spam mail with one Thunderbird instance and removed it then from the trash folder too. Then it came back in the spam folder, also in the other Thunderbird instance. In the Zimbra Web front end of my account it is gone from both the spam and trash folders. With one Thunderbird I deleted it a second time, and it came back again. Now I see it in both Thinderbird instances in both spam and trash folders but not in the Zimbra Web front end. But what I see, is incomplete. Only a time (which changes to the actual time after each restart) and an unread mark is shown, no subject, no sender and no text. Sometimes it disappears when leaving and reentering the folders, but comes back after restart. I tried the msf repair funktion, but also this didn't help. Is there any chance to get rid of this mail garbage? Please help!

After a long browser session, sometimes the keyboard shortcut Alt-D stops working, but other keyboard shortcuts like Alt-H work fine.

The shortcuts F6 and Ctrl-L still work.

A restart of the browser fixes it though, so I haven't explored further.

It's not easy to replicate consistently; Firefox doesn't show it when first opened, but after prolonged use it may occur and then stay that way until restarted.

I am using Firefox version 76.0.1 (64-bit) on Ubuntu 18.04. I am not using the [German version of Firefox].

I know I can make this go away with a restart, I'm just curious if there's some troubleshooting steps I could take to identify the cause.

Since about 3 weeks I regaularly crash my Win 10 with a blue screen with a PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA (HipShieldK.sys) error. Thought I had fixed the problem 2 weeks ago by completely uninstalling Thunderbird and re-installing it, but NO. Today I crashed my compi again. This is completely unacceptable, as emailing is essential during COVID-19 and I will not afford a 2nd new compi just because the former rock stable email program Thunderbird is not working stable anymore. Any ideas how to fix this problem? Any help is very appreciated. As I'm considering leaving Thunderbird for another, hopefully more stable programs, any suggestions? A new mail program MUST have an import ability to get more thousands of archived emails in! Thanks for every helpful advice.

When I print from Firefox, and only Firefox, it automatically chooses the manual tray and will not print from the regular tray. The paper location preference is set to automatic and this only happens in Firefox so I know it is not a printer issue. It will print from the paper tray is I choose 'Tray 1' in the preferences but only for that print.

Please help as this is very annoying and inefficient.

Hi, I am getting a repeating message that Thunderbird is trying to install a helper tool. I have typed in my password and it appears to be installing half a dozen times so far but message appears each time I open Thunderbird. Hello :-) I am using Thunderbird portable on windows 10 32 and 64 and had no problem up until now. But, yesterday I allowed thunderbird to update to v 68 and after that it was almost impossible to use it. Continuous crash with production of reports and reopening taht will last from seconds to minutes. Many crash also during email reading and writing that caused waste of hours of work. I tried several measures, changing from removable support to hard disk (C.\), on different directories, reinstalling previous versions and so on but nothing works. Today I updated on the new version 68.6 but the problem is not solved but get even worse and it is now impossible to have the email client open for more than a while. I manage several email accounts and for that Thunderbird is a great choice. I hope this problem can be solved quickly. Thank you for any support.

Hello everyone, I'm using Thunderbird 68.6.0 32 bit on a pc with windows 10 64 bit. I always receive the error "Unable to access the IMAP server; maybe you exceeded the maximum number of connection in cache..." after Thunderbird starts working, but when I click on the button "Get mail" everything works fine. I tried to change the maximum number of connections in cache, to uncheck the option "get mail at the start", "check messages every 10 minutes". Nothing changed. I think that is a problem of yahoo or thunderbird itself. Could I do something to solve this issue?

When I try to open my emails (normally have a link or button to open) I get the message "This file does not have an app associated with it for preforming this action. Please install app or if one allready is installed creat an attachment in the default apps setting page" Please note I get this message when I try to get into my settings page. I have tried the help section and can't find nany thing to address this major issue.. Please note I can send these emails to other email systems and they open so I no it is not the emails or sender.
