I'm facing a severe battery drain issue that occurs with all of the current Firefox versions for Android (Stable, Beta, Nightly). I have noticed that the problem mainly arises when I have played any type of video through the browser, such as a YouTube video or any auto-playing html video through a website. And I don't mean that the battery drain occurs WHILE I have the browser open, I mean in the background, after I have exited Firefox. I have also installed GSAM battery monitor with the necessary ADB battery stats permission given, and it seems that the "Video On" wakelock is always on with Firefox. It's like that the thread that plays the video has not stopped, even if I have force closed Firefox, and killed the video tab. For example, I'm attaching two screenshots from the battery monitor, where I have previously opened Firefox and played a video for like 15 seconds (see the "Audion On"), then immediately closed all the tabs and force closed the application. As you can see, the "Video On" has not stopped, like the "Audio On" wakelock, and continues to count (35 minutes). This may go on forever, such as if I leave the phone at night, I'll wake up the next day with Firefox video wakelock displaying something like 15 hours of playback (something that of course, is not true). The only way to stop the drain, is to restart the phone and not open Firefox.

Though, the issue may not even be related with video playback. I have read in the forums (like here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1432706) that other people are facing this issue as well, and worked around it by not using Firefox as the default browser. I have not tried it but, even if it works, this is not at all convenient. I do not wish to switch to chromium based browsers. Please take a look at the issue and let me know. Thanks a lot.

I have used Thunderbird for many years without a issue. But as of a couple days ago I have been getting errors when I open Thunderbird. 1) It always ask me to login even after I save the password to always login. 2) I get this message: "Login to server imap.comcast.net with username caulkerguy@comcast.net failed." 3) Then I get this error message "Alert from account caulkerguy@comcast.net 1014." I have checked all my Server settings and all are correct as per your online settings. I have searched the web and have not found any fixes. Are there any fixes or work arounds? Hi, I have a link in my website that opens a file in another desktop program. The link looks like this: openwith://C:/path/to/file, but after update to the latest Firefox version (v122.0) the second colon from the link is for some reason removed, resulting in a path like this: openwith://C/path/to/file. This is a problem because the path it now tries to open doesn't exist. Is this a deliberate feature in the new Firefox version or is it a bug? If it is a bug will it be fixed? It still works fine in v121.0.

I try to see pictures from CCTV camera by IP adress. After log in I see massage that pligin file is not awailable and it is nesessery to download this file. After download file vplugin.exe, I install the software restart the browser and still have massage about plugin file. Did you ever met such problem before?

I play a game at Vegas World. It's basically a free online slot machine site. I have played it for years with Chrome. Recently switched to Firefox. Playing an auto spin slot game, Firefox gets slow and hangs after about 25 spins. Chrome will go for 10,000 spins. So, Firefox is useless on game sites. I don't really expect a fix or solution. And I don't actually expect to use Firefox by the end of the day.

I have been using Firefox ESR for a while in linux debian 12 and I have noticed it using up to 1gb system memory with only one youtube video open!!!!!!

This is crazy and in system about:performance the memory being used is shown to be only 200 megabytes.

What is going on? Why does Firefox need so much memory. I am starting to think you guys want linux users to witch to chrome or vivaldi....

We have had a longstanding intermittent problem that is gradually getting worse. When sending emails the outgoing SMTP sending happens quickly, but there are massive delays in saving the sent message to IMAP folders.

Often it can take well over 1minute to save a message and quite often it does not save at all eventually we get a timeout with the error "Your message has been sent but a copy cannot be saved".

I appreciate there is the option to save to a local folder but it is a real pain to have to use this all the time.

This delays are happening across several different email accounts hosted with more than one ISP and whilst it is an intermittent problem it is occurring more than 50% of the time across multiple PCs.

Note: We use the option "Place replies in the folder of the message being replied to". However, the problem also arises with new outgoing messages that are not replies that would just be saved in the "Sent" folder.

We are using Thunderbird 115.1.1 (64-bit) running on Windows desktop PCs and laptops.

I have contacted the ISPs concerned but they think it is nothing to do with them and suggest it is an issue with Thunderbird.

I see this has been reported by other Thunderbird users, but the help resposes do not seem to offer a definitive solution. If it really is a problem with the ISP's IMAP hosting, please advise how I can gather evidence to convince the ISPs that they have a server problem. Our broadband speed is good and there are no significant delays with any other internet activity. Thanks.

How do I make Thunderbird instead open a new email?

YouTube all of a sudden started to slow down and only be able to load videos fast enough in 360p resolution, I tried watching YouTube on Microsoft edge and YouTube handled 1080p easily there, I have cleared the cash and made sure my Firefox and Windows are up to date and still the issue persists.

this only seams to occur on YouTube as amazon prime and speed test works without issues

Dear reciever. After years of using TB and what we do think is a productive mail-tool that works for the benefits we are looking for has worked. However, the last 115- constantly freezing and shuts down. This is very annoying. It freezes at some folders from the main email-client- as we have deleted older folders integrated with this. But the problems remains. . We have done everything in our knowledge of the program but still no approvement. . At this point we are using Outlook..would be grateful to have some answers and possible sollutions for this issue. . Thanks in advance and keep up the great work U are doing. :-)

Hello, After update Thunderbird quick filter became very very slow.

If you type in quick filter field two words. At the beginning is being shown random results not connected with typed in words. Then in 30 seconds or later are being loaded correct results. Not possible to use like this. It's local search on normal PC (with CPU AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 4650G, 24GB RAM) filtering must to work fast. Could you fix that issue?

After updating to the most recent version of Thunderbird, I cannot send email using my address of billward@kc.rr.com. I can send email using my address of billward122@gmail.com. When I click Send, I get this message: "Send message error. Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: billward@kc.rr.com sender rejected. The email address you are sending as must match the email address you used to auth. Please check your SMTP settings. AUP#Out-1500. Please verify that your email address is correct in your account settings and try again."

All my account settings, including my email address, are the same as they have always been. The problem with not being able to send emails only started a few days ago. I suspect it is related to the latest automatic update to version 115.4.1(32 bit) or to updates just before this one.

How can I get Thunderbird to let me send emails again the address of billward@kc.rr.com? Thank you.

It started today, with no new software, or addons installed. Version is 119.0 64bit.

I tried: - troubleshooting mode - disabling all Addons - uninstalling and re-installing Firefox - setting both browser.tabs.remote.autostart and browser.tabs.remote.autostart.2 to "false" - uninstalling Firefox, manually deleting everything Mozilla related in the App-Data, and Programs folders and finally re-installing Firefox

At least the last one should have worked? I am at a complete loss and rather frustrated.

Hello, having problems importing an USA calendar from Thunderbird site. Just need a basic one with federal holidays but probably hundreds listed. And the 'select all' and 'deselect all' not properly working as well as issues with filters. And do we really need Confederate holidays?

My grandmother on this account keeps receiving a enter primary password alert on her Thunderbird / Bigpond account. We've tried everything and when following the prompts to reset (tools > developer tools > etc) it won't come up with the evaluate button or reset button. We've tried the online sources but no success and she can't access her emails on her desktop. Please let me know what we can do !

So I just picked up a new laptop (ASUS Vivobook 16x), and everything is fresh on it. Additionally, this only affects some video content in Firefox, with Edge browser unaffected. In brief, what is happening is that within a couple hours of having the browser open, certain video content stops working, specifically Twitter/X videos just spin, YouTube previews stop working, and videos continually load. Netflix videos continue to work, but hover previews stop functioning. I even check the 'Stats for Nerds' on YT and it shows 0 KB network activity in Firefox.

I've tried every basic action I can think of:

• Turning off extensions (only use Ublock and Bitwarden)
• Browser Refresh (x3)
• Reverting from 120.1 to 120.0, and now 199.0.1
• Clearing the browser cache
• Reinstalling NVidia and Intel Drivers
• Running in Safe Mode

Only by doing a refresh or completely closing/opening the app gets videos to function again. This doesn't affect the old laptop or my desktop, which makes me think it's a rogue driver--but then why would Edge function without error over the same period of time?

Are there any settings to play with in the browser that can help diagnose?

Firefox uses too much memory, sometimes 20GB on a 32GB Windows machine. It's usually one or two threads which are hogging incredible amounts of memory. This time I had about 30 tabs open.

Today I tried Firefox about:memory "Minimize Memory Usage" several times, and it was largely ineffective.

I did a "create memory dump file" of one 5+GB bloated thread using task manager, but can't find a way to upload the compressed archive with this report for analysis. Finding a way to report this issue was quite a challenge. It seems most help avenues are now missing/moved, and other reports of this type of issue are "Archived".

I tried killing the 2 bloated Firefox threads and checked for tabs which might be missing or malfunctioning. Everything continued to run normally while more than 10GB of memory was returned to system use. Leaving these bloated threads overnight doesn't improve anything, in fact I can often get up and find my machine is completely out of memory because Firefox consumed it all. My smallest machines have 16GB RAM.

These memory issues aren't new. I've been reporting them off and on for more than a decade. They get better for a few months after reporting, then they get bad again in a few more months. The battle to get memory leaks fixed is continuous while Firefox springs more leaks.

I'd like to give you the memory image I generated so you'll at least have some real data to look at and analyze for this report.

The attached task manager snapshot image is a very minor example of this issue. The numbers keep increasing like there are one or more large memory leaks.

Hello there! Please can someone help me? On my pc, lately, when I move an email from my Thunderbird Inbox to a folder, the message does 'go' from my Inbox, but it does not re-appear in the folder. In fact, the message seems to disappear! However, the message tally count for that folder indicates that the message should be there, but it isn't visible. It's obviously been happening for a while but I don't know when it will have started. In the attached image, the folder 'Chatham, Cape Cod' shows that it should have 10 messages in it, but you'll see that the folder is empty, no messages are showing. In fact, all of the 3 folders 1) Boston, 2) Chatham, Cape Cod, and 3) Virgin Atlantic show that they have messages in them, but on opening each folder, each of those folders is empty. I should add that, on my phone or ipad, when I view my folders, all of the messages are visible. It is just on my PC that the messages are not visible. I've uninstalled Thunderbird and reinstalled it, but that didn't help. And I don't know what else to do! I'd be so grateful for help as I'm not techy and, as I work mainly from my PC, it's proving to be difficult not having all of my messages visible in their folders on my PC.
