How do I move all my message filters and address books from my Windows desktop PC to my Windows laptop?

I have three email accounts and ten address books. (The message filters use the address books to sort messages into folders.)

There are a bunch of abook* files in the root directory of the profile. Is it sufficient to move these to the laptop, or are they indexed somewhere?

There are msgFilterRules.dat files in many subfolders of Mail and ImapMail. Is it sufficient to move all of these into the corresponding folders on the laptop?

Is there an easier way to do either of these?

I am struggling with Gmail and Yahoo mail account in TB these few days. I hit almost the same errors from both. I generated app password for Yahoo mail, and put it in when setting up new account. For connection security: SSL/TLS For authentication method: tried with Normal password, Encrypted password, and OAuth2 However, I am seeing the expected authentication window pop up when trying the OAuth2. For all three authentication method: errors are always the same --- unable to connect to your IMAP server. I've followed another instruction to change maximum number of server connections to cache into 1 or 10. Error messages were the same imap one. So, what should I do/try for next?

I have two desktop icons for Firefox. Each opens to a different file. How do I clear the old file? What do I do about the message that Firefox can not update automatically? Where do I look to see Firefox file and see what date it is downloaded? If it is operational? Why is the same series of problems repeating daily?

Hello, I have problem with firefox. When I try download from facebook page files .docx, .xlsx (Microsoft Office) Firefox automatically download it as PDF and file is broken. I don't know how to repair this. Please help, it is very frustrating.

After creating a IMAP email setup instead of the old pop3, I want to move my old folders over to the IMAP setup, but when clicking 'copy to', 'move to' or just simply dragging them nothing happens. No errors no nothing.

Whats wrong ?

I'm using

• Firefox DevEd (manually installed) as my primary driver and
• the standard Firefox (installed from the package manager) for leisure/hobby related browsing

each with its own Mozilla account and profile, on Manjaro KDE. Sadly, either Firefox sees all the profiles. They have usually different versions. If I mistakenly start one of the Foxes in the other Fox's profile, the newer version of Firefox (usually Firefox DevEd) autostarts migrating that profile. Which it renders the profile "corrupted" for its intended Firefox.

I'd like to have Firefox DevEd unable to see profiles (or anything else) intended for the standard Firefox and vice versa. Or at least unable to botch profiles. I do not want to disable migration or use no. Given that Firefox configuration location is hard-coded, I'm not having high hopes for my wish.

I'm wondering if there is a way to keep two Firefox installations completely isolated, other than running them in containers.

Hi! On the latest version Mozilla Firefox 125.0.1 when i download .docx files i get the message 'File not downloaded: Potential security risk.' I select Allow download and the file downloaded can't be opened.

We develop a system on D365 platform. On Chrome enviroment, I click the export option, it will download the excel file, I can open it on Excel. However, I click the export option on FireFox, it will download the excel file but I can't open it on Excel. When I use the notepad to open the file to see the content, I found the file become HTML content. I can see the file on web broswer. I don't know why the file content will be change HTML content when I use the Firefox to download it.

It has been observed that when a user uses the Firefox browser and tries to download a DDD file, the file format is .pdf instead of .ddd. In the devtools, it was observed that the content-type is text/plain in the response to the request. I changed the content-type to application/octet-stream, but the error still persists

I've been using TB on 2 of my smaller email accounts for several months and really like the way it operates. I'm nearly ready to add my main email account (web-based Outlook) to TB but have one final question. If I add the account to TB, give it a fair try, and just don't like the results, can I simply delete that account from TB and go back to accessing it via its website? I have confirmed that POP is disabled for my Outlook account so I understand all email remains on the server until I remove it. I also understand TB would leave the email from the account on the same server, again pending some action I might take to remove it. So it would seem that I could delete the account from TB and revert to web-based access for the account, just as I'm doing now, and the folders and saved emails would still be there. Am I overlooking anything?

Prior to update 125.0.1 corporate intranet users could download PDF files from our Line of Business applications / Webpages. Today after the latest update the PDF files download but are corrupted. The site was added to the trusted webpage without improvement.

Adobe Acrobat Reader could not open ********.pdf because it is either not a supported file or because the file has been damaged

Not sure if this is a new 'feature' post-update but it's damn annoying. I was busily transferring some photos that I'd taken on my phone over to Firefox on my Mac. Wasn't until I went to find them on the Mac where they would normally be and couldn't find them. Bit of digging, opening up the Download 'history' on Firefox and saw "File not downloaded: possible security risk".

I can see that I can disable this 'feature' but it seems to be a global "allow". Is there any way I can tell Firefox to allow any downloads from my devices on my network yet warn for potentially insecure downloads from the web?

Old computer: Windows 10 Pro, 64 bit Thunderbird 115.10.0 32-bit (Don't know why it's 32-bit version on a 64-bit computer or whether that's relevant)

The Profiles folder is here (with 5 profiles): C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles

The new computer is Windows 11 Pro, 64-bit I just installed Thunderbird (V115.10.0 (64-bit) on the new computer.

On the new computer, the Profiles folder is here: C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles

I basically took the Profiles folder that came with the Thunderbird installation, renamed it (Profiles.orig) and copied in the Profiles folder from the old computer in its place. When I start up Thunderbird, I get this error message:

           Your Thunderbird profile cannon be loaded.  It may be missing or inaccessible

What am I doing wrong? I've updated Thunderbird on the old computer and copied the Profiles folder over to the new computer again. Same result.

Could it be 1. an issue with the user name on the old computer is different than the one I'm using on the new computer? 2. All files on the new computer are set up as local (the user on the old computer started out as a Microsoft user but I made it local so as not to have to use OneDrive).

I'm stumped. Any help will be very much appreciated. If you need any more details I'm happy to provide them.

In the past, FF downloaded documents without opening them in the browser. This is two weeks now that whenever I download a document, FF is now opening the document in the browser without asking me.

I welcome if someone could tell me what I can do to stop FF from opening the documents.

I have been forced by Rogers in Canada to migrate my internet service from their legacy internet service to Rogers Ignite with its Ignite (Comcast) gateway. My email accounts were supposed to be migrated automatically, but, for reasons unknown, were not, and a tech support representative had to migrate them from the old legacy service to Ignite. After that was done, I opened Thunderbird, and was asked to authenticate my 2 Rogers/Yahoo email accounts, one of which is my primary account, the other a secondary account. I was asked to authenticate the secondary account first, which went well. I then clicked on my primary account in the left-hand pane and was again asked to authenticate, but the dialogue box showed it was for the secondary account. Thinking that this secondary account authentication was just being repeated for no particular reason, and not thinking that the email address in the authentication request box could be changed, I clicked Agree. My primary account is now showing the exact same emails as are listed in the secondary account, and I'm extremely concerned that I will not be able to recover all of the thousands of emails in my primary account, many of which are business-related. When I log into my primary account on the Rogers/Yahoo mail website, the emails in the primary account are still showing, so I know they are still on the Rogers IMAP server. However, I really want to continue to use my primary account on Thunderbird. I'm not sure if I should delete the primary account and recreate it - the Rogers support tech said that deleting the account may result in an issue where my current password for a re-created primary account may not be recognized, so I'm leaving things as they are until I hear back. It the advice is to not delete and recreate the account, what steps can I take to recover the emails on my primary account in Thunderbird. TIA , Windows 11 Oops... Going from TBird Portable to Thunderbird 115.9.0 (64-bit) SuperNova I accidentally ended up with Thunderbird 115.9.0 (64-bit) SuperNova , (TBS). And I notice there is an entry in 'Installed Apps' for Mozilla Thunderbird (x86 en-US) But when I look in C:\Program Files (x86) there is no Entry for TB . Moving on ... TB Portable has Folders for 'App' 'Data' 'Other' TB Supernova (TBS) has no such Folders . And Looks Like I'll have to re-Build all my email accounts (10) .

How to proceed? : Shall I unInstall 'Installed Apps' for Mozilla Thunderbird (x86 en-US) I do have a Backup for: TB Portable has Folders for 'App' 'Data' 'Other'

When I started getting msgs saying my browser was no longer supported, I checked my version. Firefox says i have v115esr and that it is "up to date" - i.e. no update available at this time. I assumed I was getting the brush off from those web sites.

Why did Firefox not bring me up to v124? I get a "download update" probably once a month. It's been giving me a new variation of 115esr all along.

I've now downloaded 124 from your site. What do I need to do so that I stay current in the future? Thanks John
