Import 4G Mbox in the Thunderbird folder. Each time you click on the folder, the folder cannot be used, and the bottom left corner of the main program prompts "Compile Summary File for XXX", and it takes a few minutes to compile. The filter cannot filter the message to the specified folder. When the thunderbird reads a large message of more than 15M, it cannot use and the message is in the reading state. The client's local directory and system are placed in the SSD. How to solve this problem?

How to view HTML emails in Outlook 2016 in Firefox

Good day,

I use Outlook 2016 installed on my Windows 10 desktop to manage my email accounts. As the default security settings of Outlook software prevents a number of scripts from running, it is common to be unable to view an HTML email as the sender intended, even if one “downloads pictures”, and so Outlook displays an advisory on these emails; “If there are problems with how this message is displayed, click here to view it in a web browser”. If I click on this, the email will open in Internet Explorer (IE) and I will be able to view the email as intended.

I want to open these emails automatically in Firefox (FF) but, despite searching the web for a solution, I cannot see how to do this. My default web browser is set as FF and everything web related other than Outlook emails successfully opens in FF. I see that the Outlook emails are saved thus: C:\Users\MyUserName\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\Content.Outlook\UniqueID\email.mht. I have searched how to open mht files in FF and have accordingly downloaded the Web Archives Extension. Unfortunately, even with Web Archives installed, when I try to open the cached mht file in FF, the file will not open. I also tried to change the default application by file type of .mht and .mhtml files from IE to FF but Windows will not offer FF as an alternative program for these files types.

Please could someone advise what I should do so that if I need to view an email in Outlook in a browser, the email will open, and successfully render, in FF?

Thank you.

I find myself facing a real dillema, I prefer to use Firefox for most things however, due to the fact that Firefox does not support H.265 and has instead opted to only support AVI video I cannot use it to manage the massive fleet of Security Cameras I manage. I am stuck using IE or Edge both of which are garbage. Along with that Chrome also has decided to only support AVI so that is worthless as well. In our modern era of technology I find it morally repugnant that a company like Firefox would turn their back on their loyal users. Could someone please explain to why Firefox cannot even implement an add-on that would allow use of the built in hardware decoder if supported on your computer like IE/Edge are capable of doing? I just don't understand why Firefox insists on copying Chrome rather than being their own independent company, especially when Chrome has worked their way into almost a monopoly status, and even if Chrome is not a monopoly every other browser now seems to just be a spin off of Chrome. I would imagine that Firefox would want to support as much as possible and not dictate to the world like Google has decided to do. Really starting to lose faith in Firefox's ability to be their own company.

I'm used to Chrome's ability to automatically open a history item I click on in a new tab. Firefox instead opens that history item in the tab I'm currently in, which is really inconvenient. I don't want to have to remember to open a new tab BEFORE I look in history for a specific item. I can't find any way to do this in Firefox - it may be there, but not to my eyes.

I find Pocket quite creepy. Despite your attempts to reassure users about the privacy of the system, the relevance of the suggested articles with respect to my recent searches does make me feel like I'm being followed. That's not the experience I expect from a browser like Firefox.

So I unticked the "Recommended by Pocket" in the Preferences. But it's not clear to me what that does exactly. Q1. Does it just hide the suggestions or does it disabled the Pocket system entirely? Would it be possible to make the purpose of that tickbox clearer for the users?

Q2. If it does disable it, why can I still see "extensions.pocket.enabled true" under about:config? Why can't that be turned to false from the Preferences?

Q3. That config key indicates that it is a browser extension. If indeed it is, why isn't it listed under "about:addons"? Why can't Pocket be disabled or removed like any other extension?

When reopening Firefox, all tabs from the previous session are opened again. Say, I used wikipedia and closed that tab, it wil reappear when restarting firefox. Since I am frequently opening and closing new tabs, this leads to a great deal of tabs (of which only a few are wanted) at every startup. How can this be prevented?

Hi,

As part of unit testing of our addon with Thunderbird 68.10.0 on Windows 10 ,we are facing issues while Sign/Encrypt the mail using our Smart Card. It has Authentication,Sign and Encryption Certificates.

To provide more details of about the addon,basically it provides a PKCS library to Sign/Encrypt the mails and in fact we are trying to automatically integrate the same as part of Thunderbird.

Regarding the setup of Thunderbird for testing this feature, we followed the below instructions to configure our CA since it was not listed and In fact our Signing/Encryption certificates have been issued by the same Microsoft CA.

Instructions:

In order for the certificate authority (CA) to be trusted or your personal certificate, the CA that signed your certificate must have its certificate installed under Authorities in your certificate store. Thunderbird comes with some built in certificate authorities, but the list is hardly complete. It seems that there is a slant towards the major CAs whose first language is English and issue certificates to people in the U.S.

If your CA is not one of the built in certificate authorities and you are under Windows and have Internet Explorer (IE), you could import the certificate in this way:

Open IE and go to "Tools -> Internet Options -> Content -> Certificates -> Trusted Root Certificate Authorities". Highlight the certificate(s) that you would like to export. Click on "Export" and complete the export wizard. (DER encoded binary ".cer" files work as a file format.) While completing the wizard, remember where you saved the certificate. Now, open Thunderbird and go to "Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Certificates -> Manage Certificates... -> Authorities". (In Mozilla Suite, go to "Edit -> Preferences -> Privacy & Security -> Certificates -> Manage Certificates... -> Authorities".) Select "Import", select the file you saved above, and click "Open". Read the warning and select for what purpose you trust the certificate. Click "OK" if you trust it. It should now be installed. Optionally, you may want to delete the ".cer" file. If that is not possible, because the CA isn't there, you will need to contact your CA and see if they can give you their authorities public certificate.

Following is the error we are facing during Signing and also I have attached the snapshot of the same. "Sending of the message failed. Unable to sign message. Please check that the certificates specified in Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings for this mail account are valid and trusted for mail."

As part of further analysis of the logs we figured out the APIs used by Thunderbird while performing Signing operation.

1. C_OpenSession 2. C_SignInit 3. C_GetAttributeValue (CRSAPrivateKey::GetOneAttributeValue - CKA_ALWAYS_AUTHENTICATE:) 4. C_Logout 5. C_Login (userType = CKU_USER) 6. C_Sign (SignKey = NULL)

Among the above APIs C_Logout is performed, not sure why after C_SignInit. Also if you look at the option to get SignKey CKA_ALWAYS_AUTHENTICATE, which forces the user to provide the PIN, in fact we are providing the same. But When C_Sign is called after Login, it seems the SignKey is NULL, due to earlier Logout operation.

Normally as per the PKCS standard with CKA_ALWAYS_AUTHENTICATE this would be the callflow.

1. C_OpenSession 2. C_SignInit 3. C_GetAttributeValue (CRSAPrivateKey::GetOneAttributeValue - CKA_ALWAYS_AUTHENTICATE:) 4. C_Login (userType = CKU_CONTEXT_SPECIFIC) 5. C_Sign (SignKey)

If PrivateKey with CKA_ALWAYS_AUTHENTICATE is used then C_Login should be immediately called with CKU_CONTEXT_SPECIFIC after C_SignInit operation. Please refer more details about the same from the PKCS standards.

“The CKA_ALWAYS_AUTHENTICATE attribute can be used to force re-authentication (i.e. force the user to provide a PIN) for each use of a private key. "Use" in this case means a cryptographic operation such as sign or decrypt. This attribute may only be set to CK_TRUE when CKA_PRIVATE is also CK_TRUE. Re-authentication occurs by calling C_Login with userType set to CKU_CONTEXT_SPECIFIC immediately after a cryptographic operation using the key has been initiated (e.g. after C_SignInit). In this call, the actual user type is implicitly given by the usage requirements of the active key. If C_Login returns CKR_OK the user was successfully authenticated and this sets the active key in an authenticated state that lasts until the cryptographic operation has successfully or unsuccessfully been completed (e.g. by C_Sign, C_SignFinal,..).”

Hence it would be great from Thunderbird community to help us to figure out the issue.

Please let me know if i am missing something.

Since I use Firefox for so many of my personal and important things I just want to know that the Firefox Add-Ons are safe.

How can I know which Firefox Add-Ons are safe?

I'd really appreciate any advice.
