Is there a way to completely opt out of having AI in my browser?

I find recent implementations of AI in Firefox quite frankly disgusting. I don't want to see it, I don't want to use it, I don't want it suggested to me. Not only it's unneeded, but also all your LLMs are a waste of electricity, fresh water and are a threat to my privacy, and we don't even mention all the legal trouble AI scraping creates.

I need a switch to completely remove any mention of LLMs/AIs in my Firefox browser unless I search for it on the internet (and, trust me, I wont; I'd prefer to continue thinking for myself and having real people with skills and talents do things if I can't do them myself) and have none of them touch me in any way. Kill that thing with fire.

Ideally Firefox, one that advertises itself as a secure browser with respect towards its users, shouldn't have any mention of AI in the first place, you know. But since companies are in a craze about it for some unknown reason (trust me, we don't want it; if I want to be lied to, I'd go to a paediatrician to talk about my symptoms, not a language model I can't trust with my data), at least give your users an option to get that awful thing out of their browser it they want to.

With Firefox 144, there is unasked for/unwanted AI introduced. How do I ensure that all AI is completely disabled in my browser? I found a link describing some settings, but want to confirm this will disable ALL AI in the browser. I don't want it, don't trust the privacy/security holes yet to be found and would prefer it was not included in Firefox to begin with. The list I've found is:

Will this do it? What about:

Do I need to clear that field to ensure I don't get some auto opt-in in the future as more and more of this "stuff" is put into the browser?

Why not leave Firefox as a security/privacy conscious browser and put out a separate AI browser (FirefoxML?) for those that are not as concerned. How does Mozilla ensure that no information is leaked through AI from sessions for professionals that must protect physician/patient, attorney/client information or other legally confidential information?

I am getting regularly getting a random notification sound even when no E-mails have been received.

It seems to be when Thunderbird is automatically checking for E-mails, so for example if i have it set to check for new e-mails every 5 Mins I will get a notification sound every 5 mins or whatever I set that time to.

How do I turn off this sound without affecting the notification when a new e-mail is received.

16 Nov. Yesterday I finally found a competent computer consultant who was able to solve the enormous problem of getting Google and my Thunderbird linked, so that I could once again use Thunderbird.

I have noticed that the layout is different when I am reading incoming messages in Thunderbird. I used to have the list of all my contacts showing vertically to the left of the open message , in alphabetical order. That is no longer there. I need help in restoring that. Thank you.

15 Nov. 2025 I contacted a very savvy computer consultant in my area, and he was able to connect my Thunderbird to my Google account, so I can finally use my Thunderbird software again. I have a question about the appearance of a message when I open the message. In the past, I always had the list of my contacts on the left side of my screen, aligned vertically, when I had an open message on my screen. That is missing now. I would like to restore that feature, and I cannot find a way to do that. Thank you.

So many emails require me to scroll to the right to finish reading one line, back to the left for the next, etc. They hurt my head, they take fireever to read, and they hurt my right arm too. Thunderbird used to have an option to wrap messages, but it looks like it was deleted.

I tried adding the following tom my user css:

   margin-left: 45pt !important;
   max-width: 900px !important;
   margin-right: 45pt !important;

}

The margin-left works. It gives a spacer between the message pane and the folder list.

The max-width and margin-right don't work. The messages still require horizontal scrolling, and the scrollbar shifts left, right up against the text, so it doesn't give the needed spacer.

I use the spacers to avoid the parallax-induced migraines.

Is there a button I push or a feature I enable to make sure that I'm opted-out of any future updates that include AI 'features'? Or should I switch to Vivaldi now and save time?

I know nothing about the dev options for Internet settings and minor turned on and it says the remote server is set to production. No flipping idea what this is. Can somebody please help me?

How do I get back the choice to get a message brought in manually and other features that were above my account name. I unchecked a box (it was called something board) and it was gone but cant find it to restore the option. I right clicked on that to get a drop down menu with a few choices. I cant remember exactly what they said. One of the icons was for manually bringing in my mail, like a refresh option as well as some other choices beside it. This was visible above my account name which is just above the inbox. Anyone have any idea where I find that again to restore it? One click and it was gone! :-( Hope I explained it good. Thank you

I search but did not find any list of environment variables supported by Firefox. Is there such an official list, perhaps groupped by Firefox version, published somewhere?

I have just installed Thunderbird for the first and set it up with 2 email accounts. So far so good, but I am puzzled why I have the following situation:

Under Unified Folders, as well as the expected folders Inbox, Sent, Draft, etc., I have Account 1 Folder, Account 2 Folder, and Local Folders.

Separated by a line and underneath these I have All Folders, beneath which I again have Account 1, Account 2, and Local Folders.

Is it possible to get rid of this unnecessary duplication?

Yesterday I was able, with someone's help, to turn off the feature in Thunderbird that is a pop-up on lower left of screen that a new email has come in. But now I want to also get rid of the sound. Didn't have this problem with my old computer and Windows 10. Or is this something I can only not have when speakers are turned off?

When writing a message the cursor is a long black bar, how do I get it to normal size?

Cursor bar is about the length of the word "message" above. I can not take a screenshot of it.

I've just installed Thunderbird and given them a donation, but the big, fat 'sign' asking for a donation is still there and blocking half the screen. I have closed and reopened the program but it's still there.
