Hello on my Samsung S24 synchronisation of email became very slow for a few days. I trier to réinstall TB but it did'nt change anything. Do you please have any idea where could be the bug and the way to fix it ?

Since the latest update, the uploading of new emails from the server can take minutes to hours. I know the emails are on the server, because I can see them by logging onto my email client on my iPad. Why has Thunderbird suddenly become very frustrating to use? An example which just happened - I was required to enter a 6 digit code to be able to confirm my account before I could submit this question. I waited, and waited and waited to see this code in my Inbox. Finally I went to my iPad to get the code, so I could submit this question. It was there as I expected, but not in my Thunderbird Inbox for another 10 minutes. This is happening far too often, so I am contemplating finding another email program which is not so frustrating.

I've been using TB for years. Lately I can be browsing the Inbox when the contents will disappear and I get a message saying something like no messages found. After about 30 seconds the Inbox is displayed again.

TB never used to do this and it is similar to Firefox refreshing the screen which it also never used to do this.

Also how do I get from the Beta version to the standard version?

Once I delete a message, T-bird (147.0.4 on W11 Pro) begins compacting, and then I'm stuck until it's done. This is new behavior. Previously the system compacted occasionally, but now it's every single time I delete something from the inbox (which happens frequently during the day, of course, sigh).

Anyway, many thanks in advance for help/guidance and if it matters, I'm one of those who contributes monetarily for use versus freeloading. Also, no, we don't believe updating to the latest version is productive for our situation so I hope this is not the solutuion. -- Regards,

My email is very slow since I moved it to my new Dell laptop, sending, reading new messages, deleting and moving, NOT old messages. It was also slow on my old tower PC, but not this slow. I might leave Thunderbird if this continues. Not worth my time. Thank you!

HI i have an ASUS-VivoBook laptop that has an intel i5 10th gen and geforce mx250 with 8gb ddr4 ram when i use firefox it uses about 550 mb ram alone on one page only is that supposed to happen ? if not how can i reduce my ram usage and power usage from settings and thank you for this amazing web browser i realy like the animated castle town from deltarune theme i am never going back to chrome THANKS ALOT

A few weeks ago I started noticing a pop up window was occurring every (approx) 5 minutes in Thunderbird suggesting that I run a compact to save 992MB. I assumed this would stop happening after a few weeks and a few updates from Mozilla, but the problem has remained, so I'm coming here to ask about it.

Context: I'm on Windows 11. I have multiple email accounts that my Thunderbird reaches out to. At least one of the accounts is retired so reaching out to its historical server fails.

Reproducing: For me to reproduce it, I run the compact. Quit Thunderbird. Start Thunderbird. It reports 992MB can be freed. I let it compact. The main inbox disappears and reappears. I wait a few seconds and restart Thunderbird. It again tells me that it can save 992MB by running a compact.

What I've tried: I've tried repair on the inbox folder of the account I'm typically in. That didn't help. I have many other folders across many accounts and not tried to repair any other folders. I've searched the Mozilla help system.

Logs: It seems to me that a compact is probably failing but I don't know where to look for evidence of the failure.

When creating a new email and entering a recipient address, Thunderbird automatically suggests addresses after typing a few characters. However, in my case the auto-complete suggestions take about 10 seconds to appear after I start typing.

I am using Thunderbird version 149.0.1. My settings under Settings → Composition → Addressing are as follows:

☑ Local Address Books ☐ LDAP Server ☑ Automatically add outgoing recipients to: Collected Addresses Initial Directory for Address Book: Last Used Directory

I would like to understand what kind of search Thunderbird performs when auto-completing email addresses.

Also, if anyone has experienced the same issue, how did you resolve it?

Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated.

henn typing website keeps going to about blank/ crashes all time/ locks up unable to open sites like home depot/autozone xtra slow respondes. must be time to use something else firefox has gotten unusable

Whenever I start Thunderbird, I get messages such as that some mailboxes cannot be compacted and some filtering cannot be done "because another operation is in progress". Why is this? How can I prevent it? It is a nuisance having to go and chase down and correct the filtering that has not taken place.

Sometimes the index becomes too large, making searching very difficult. The solution is to reset the index, which involves deleting the global-messages-db.sqlite file. After Thunderbird rebuilds the index, searching is simpler and faster. Adding a menu or an automatic database reindexing process would be a significant improvement!

Well, I just updated and still have the same problems. This browser is simply impossible to use; I can't even throw it away and forget about it: it can't load a single page without getting stuck halfway through, after which the app freezes and has to be interrupted, unloaded from memory, and only then (maybe) will the page load! It's been like this for six months now. It's probably time to ditch it completely!
